PRESCHOOL Share A Story

Each week we will read stories to open our imaginations.

Welcome To Preschool! We are excited to offer our residents some fun for your little one with our preschool classes! Preschool Registration Preschool classes will be offered on a session-by-session basis. Therefore, the class options and schedules listed within and the associated registration are for this session only. We will continue to advertise our class offerings in advance of each session.

What to expect this year!

• Friday, January 22 beginning at 8:00 a.m. • Registration will be conducted online via our website, recreation.southwindsor.org • In the interest of streamlining the registration process and allowing for a safe and socially distant registration, we ask that you register online if at all possible. If you are unable to register online, please contact our office at rec@southwindsor-ct.gov or 860-648-6355 for assistance. You may register your little one for as many classes as you would like!

Inclement Weather Policy •

If the South Windsor schools are canceled, preschool classes will also be canceled. If South Windsor schools have a delayed opening, preschool classes will also be canceled. Always call the Cancelation Hotline Number (860-648-6349) for the most up to date information. We have planned extra time between sessions, and will do our best to offer a make-up class for any canceled classes as the schedule allows! Partial refunds will be given if two or more of the same class cannot be rescheduled.

Masks/Cloth Face Coverings. To stay consistent with the State of Connecticut ruling as well as the Office of Early Childhood’s Guidance, masks or cloth face coverings will be mandatory for both children and staff when: - They are inside the classroom/Parks and Recreation Facility - They are outside and less than six feet from another participant or staff member We know that mask-wearing may be new and possibly overwhelming for children. Our staff are committed to making this a positive experience and supporting the children to help them become comfortable wearing a mask. We will also provide as many safe and socially distanced opportunities as possible for children to take a break from mask-wearing. In our Fall session, we found that the children were very successful at wearing their masks; we are proud of their adaptability to this change!

Drop Off/Pick Up Outside.􀀁 In an effort to limit the amount of people inside the building, we will conduct drop off and pick up outside in the courtyard near the preschool wing. Temperature Screening and Wellness Questionnaire conducted daily at drop off. At drop-off each morning, staff will take the temperature of all participants, as well as conduct a short wellness questionnaire. This practice is consistent with guidance from the Office of Early Childhood, as well as our Town Health Department.

We will play games, do art projects, sing songs and have free play time. This year we will spend as much time as possible outside,

ABCs and 123s (Ages 3-5)

In this class we will introduce simple letter and math activities

for preschool children with a focus on FUN, play-based learning. We will also read stories, sing songs, and make dazzling works of art. Snack will be provided.

And Away We Go! (Ages 3-5)

Little Leapers

(Ages 3-5) R

Hop on in and go for a ride, lots of fun is what we provide!

This three hour class is perfect for the child who has lots of energy.

or take a car, places to go near and far. In this class we will learn

and new, sing some songs, and make a magnificent project, too.

Take a bus or take a train, take a boat or take a plane. Take a truck about the many different types of transportation that are used

every day along with stories, songs, art and new friends which are all aboard this fun-filled ride. Snack will be provided.

So come on in and LEAP into learning as we play with friends old Snack will be provided.

Imagination Station

(Ages 3-5) R

Art, music, and stories will get our imaginations working. During our three hours together, children will also participate in fine and

gross motor activities, sensory activities, and free play. This year we will spend as much time as possible outside, so please dress your child for the weather. Snack will be provided.

Animal Explorers

(Ages 3-5) R

Do you want to learn about animals and their habitat, the food they eat, the way they move and more? Then you’ve come to the right

place. In this class we will EXPLORE a different animal each week,

from the farm to the jungle to the prehistoric. We will encourage your child to use their imagination as they discover new and interesting things. Story time and our project will reflect our class theme and snack will be provided. It’s going to be a ROARING good time!
