Welcome To Preschool! Register online at recreation.southwindsor.org We are pleased to offer the following classes and events for Preschoolers. Weather Cancellation Policy For updated information on program cancellations due to inclement weather, please call our Cancellation Hotline at 860-648-6349. SWPRD reserves the right to change schedules as necessary and cancel programs that do not meet minimum enrollment levels.

PRESCHOOL Welcome To Preschool! We are excited to offer our residents some fun for your little one with our preschool classes! Preschool Registration Preschool classes will be offered on a session-by-session basis. Therefore, the class options and schedules listed within and the associated registration are for this session only. We will continue to advertise our class offerings in advance of each session.

What to expect this year!

Registration Date: • Friday, October 23 beginning at 8:00 a.m. • Registration will be conducted online via our website, recreation.southwindsor.org • In the interest of streamlining the registration process and allowing for a safe and socially distant registration, we ask that you register online if at all possible. If you are unable to register online, please contact our office at rec@southwindsor-ct.gov or 860-648-6355 for assistance.

Fun For Everyone! •

In order to ensure that we are able to provide class options for as many South Windsor families as possible, we ask that for the first week (Oct. 23 – 29) of registration each family only registers for one preschool class. As of October 30, any remaining class openings are available to all families for registration on a first come, first served basis. We appreciate your cooperation in allowing us to offer preschool fun for everyone!

Masks/Cloth Face Coverings. To stay consistent with the State of Connecticut ruling as well as the Office of Early Childhood’s Guidance, masks or cloth face coverings will be mandatory for both children and staff when: - They are inside the classroom/Parks and Recreation Facility - They are outside and less than six feet from another participant or staff member We know that mask-wearing may be new and possibly overwhelming for children. Our staff are committed to making this a positive experience and supporting the children to help them become comfortable wearing a mask. We will also provide as many safe and socially distanced opportunities as possible for children to take a break from mask-wearing.

Drop Off/Pick Up Outside.􀀁 In an effort to limit the amount of people inside the building, we will conduct drop off and pick up outside in the courtyard near the preschool wing.

Temperature Screening and Wellness Questionnaire conducted daily at drop off. At drop-off each morning, staff will take the temperature of all participants, as well as conduct a short wellness questionnaire. This practice is consistent with guidance from the Office of Early Childhood, as well as our Town Health Department.

Lots of FUN! 􀀁Each day the children will play, do art projects, sing songs, listen to stories, and have safe and socially distant fun with their friends!

ABCs and 123s (Ages 3-5)

In this class we will introduce simple letter and math activities for preschool children with a focus on FUN, play-based learning. We will also read stories, sing songs, and make dazzling works of art. Snack will be provided.

Share A Story

(Ages 3-5) R Each week we will read stories to open our imaginations. We will

play games, do art projects, sing songs and have free play time. This

year we will spend as much time as possible outside, so please dress your child for the weather. Snack will be provided.

Mondays, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., $81 Location: Room 56, Instructors: Mrs. Hathorn and Mrs. Aparo

Imagination Station

(Ages 3-5) R

Art, music, and stories will get our imaginations working. During our three hours together, children will also participate in fine and

gross motor activities, sensory activities, and free play. This year we will spend as much time as possible outside, so please dress your child for the weather. Snack will be provided.

NEW

And Away We Go! (Ages 3-5)

R Hop on in and go for a ride, lots of fun is what we provide! Take a

bus or take a train, take a boat or take a plane. Take a truck or take a car, places to go near and far. In this class we will learn about the

many different types of transportation that are used every day along with stories, songs, art and new friends which are all aboard this fun-filled ride. Snack will be provided.

Little Leapers

(Ages 3-5) R

This three hour class is perfect for the child who has lots of energy.

So come on in and LEAP into learning as we play with friends old and new, sing some songs, and make a magnificent project, too. Snack will be provided.

Explore, Play, Learn!

(Ages 3-5) R

Through stories, songs, art, games and free play we will explore

concepts including shapes, colors, letters and numbers. This year

we will spend as much time as possible outside, so please dress your child for the weather. Snack will be provided.

Do you want to learn about animals and their habitat, the food

Come on in and join the fun, it’s a great time for everyone! Playing,

right place. In this class we will EXPLORE a different animal

Learning through play is what we do and going outside is part of the fun

they eat, the way they move and more? Then you’ve come to the each week, from the farm to the jungle to the prehistoric. We will encourage your child to use their imagination as they discover

new and interesting things. Story time and our project will reflect

painting, reading stories too, and don’t forget to bring a smile with you. too. Snack will be provided.

Messy Play

(Ages 3-5) R

Shaving cream, play dough, and finger paint are just a few of the things

we will be getting our hands into during this class. Each week we will dive into a new mess, have circle time with a story, sing songs, and of course

have time for free play. This year we will spend as much time as possible
