In the vein of The Devil Wears Prada, we want to go behind the scenes on the fashion industry. Hermès had a New York rom-com moment with their fashion musical “Love Around the Block” in their new flagship store. Max and ex-girlfriend Joanna reunite in the three-part show that includes colorful costumes, comedy galore, and a little tap dancing on the signature orange Hermès box. Prior to the creative show, this interview of Hermès senior public relations manager Brett Kalinsky occurred.

Please tell us about yourself:

My name is Brett Kalinsky, I am 28 years old and live with my husband in Manhattan.

What is your favorite rom-com?

It’s so hard to say, but my favorite rom-com is Sweet Home Alabama.

How would you describe your personal style?

I would describe my style as classic, not too trendy, and I am a sucker for the “coastal grandmother” vibe.

How has your style evolved over time?

In middle school I would kill my first born for a juicy tracksuit, so I’d say I’ve come a long way! I learned to express myself without buying unnecessary fads that I’d get bored of after a year. Less is more –quality over quantity.

If you could raid any closet from a rom-com, which closet would you choose and why?

If I could raid a rom-com closet, I would say it has to be Something’s Gotta Give.

What is your favorite part of PR?

I love the continuous challenge that public relations brings. No day is the same. I also enjoy interacting externally with press and editors, and it’s a great bonus that I love my company.

Where do you find inspiration (for fashion/in general)?

I find inspiration from my closest mentors. When you find a good one, hold onto them!

If you could start a new trend, what would it be?

If I could start a new trend, it would be no trends, if that makes sense! I am not a huge fan of fast trends that don’t fit someone’s personality. I’m not an avid follower of influencers per se, so I think the biggest trend is believing in yourself and finding creativity for what you wear within yourself – it’s in all of us somewhere!

What is your favorite fashion show you have seen?

I would probably say one of my favorite fashion shows was the first runway show I worked at while I was working for Ralph Lauren. It was Spring 2016 and I will never forget it!

Where has been your favorite place to visit for work or for fun?

My favorite place is hands down St. Barths. My husband proposed to me there, so it’s an incredibly special place for us and it’s one of the most amazing places on earth.
