On 18th August 1993, a huge part of this Bridge was caught on fire.

The only part that was not affected was a Water Tower and two bridgeheads. It took eight months to rebuild the destroyed parts of the bridge to make it look like the way it used to. On 14th April 1994, the bridge re-opened.
