Old Adobe Mission

One of the oldest missions in Arizona, it was built in 1933 out of over 6,000 adobe bricks. The building is currently being restored and has a bell tower and beautiful stained glass windows. Old Adobe Mission

A Word To The Wise: Beware The popularity of high quality, Native American Indian Jewelry is always increasing. High demand brings its darker side. Hordes of Indian jewelry imitators are flocking to the market with phony jewelry.

Dealers are besieged by imitators selling non-Indian made, but Indian style jewelry.

Imitation jewelry is taking its toll on Indian craftsmen.

In the time it takes a Navajo silversmith to hand-fashion a squashblossom necklace, literally hundreds can be stamped out on assembly line machines.

Most dealers clearly indicate the imitation jewelry, but some don’t.

Ultimately it is the unknowledgeable buyer who gets stung.

The often-repeated advice bears repeating again: Buy from a reputable dealer and ask for a certificate of authenticity with each item purchased.

If the dealer refuses to supply the certificate, don’t buy the item.
