Key information role for Pam Pam Pixton, for six years the Arrivals Officer with Thamesdown Council's Community Development Division, now has a new title as the Community Information and Support Officer. Until recently Pam was kept busy in her part-time job tramping around muddy build ing sites in her wellington boots visiting new arrivals to West Swindon. She also visited new tenants in council houses. Many readers will have been greeted by her friendly smile at the door, often amidst the chaos of just moving into a new house. Apart from presenting the very useful 'Welcome to West Swindon' booklet containing useful information about community facilities, she was able to provide lots of advice on local services and groups to join. Visiting new arrivals has been something the Council has carried out since the first people moved in just under fifteen years ago. But with the rate of house building in the area declining and the static housing market, the council has decided to change Pam's job description to respond to the different needs that have evolved over the years.
