BORROWED space.
Most of the ideation for this structure was done digitally, iterating on alterations made directly to the form. Due to the site I had chosen however, very early on I had decided on a theme of decending and burrowing, taking inspiration from Tadao Ando in my use of few materials and purposful apatures that would dictate an experience for any visitor, these early sketches display this theme.
Below is the beginings of the path design, through careful chosen openings the visitor will be drawn naturally through the structure.
Beginning with a square, slice out two opposing quarter circles
Creation of openings & apertures
Alteration of mass, creating ‘Lifted Halls” (Form 58)

The floor plate was molded inside the chosen form, carving out a pathway between the lifted wings of the shape. Apertures were created at select spaces beyond the reach of any visitor.
