Over the past couple holiday seasons we have shared conversations regarding the inspired efforts of a group of conscientious santas in California who have stepped up to the task of trying to help parents correct the unhealthy diets our American children now embrace. Everyone knows the problem: The fast and processed “food” being consumed in America has led to an explosion of preventable, chronic metabolic and other diet driven diseases in our children which were only rarely seen 30 years ago. And it’s not just Type 2 Diabetes. It’s everything from fatty liver, bleeding and leaky bowel, high blood pressure, and the bad food driven illnesses of cancer and heart disease. Walkabout in Stockholm

Public transportation is excellent in Stockholm, but there is much to be said for the rich experiences gained by walking around the historic city. For visitors, this may be especially true on the islands that make up the interior of the city, including Gamla Stan, Djurgården and Södermalm. As in any city, each neighborhood has a personality of its own –- perhaps the foundation of the love affair many of us have with Sweden’s capital city. This is true for one of our contributors who often takes us along as he walks around Stockholm, where he has spent many years living and learning.
