The summer cottage

A need for and the resources to get away from it all is built into Sweden’s national mentality. The Swedish calendar presents plenty of opportunities to satisfy this longing. In addition to weekends and some five guaranteed weeks of vacation each year (usually consuming the entire month of July), Swedes also enjoy regularly scheduled holidays including New Year’s Day (and Jan. 2), Twelfth Night (Jan. 6), and of course the long weekend of Good Friday through Easter Monday, Swedish Labor Day (May 1), Ascension Day and Midsummer … all times to get away to spend time at the family summer house, like in / Page 6 Building on tradition
