Hey, Coyotes!

Hope everyone enjoyed their weekend! I want to thank everyone who has participated in our meetings thus far and continuing their service for the home, school, and community! As we end off the year, I want to remind you all of the hour requirement for this year! This upcoming break should be the perfect time for you guys to catch up on some service hours, whether that be a quick job for charity miles or some brain conditioning with freerice!

Anyway, I hope you all have a safe winter break and good luck on your semester exams! ^_^ Biting with service and howling with spirit,

Hey, Coyotes!

I hope you are all doing well and been keeping yourself safe! The holidays are just around the corner, which means Winter Break! As the new year is just around the corner, elections will be coming soon too! This year has gone by very fast and I’m glad we were able to get through this tough year! Don’t forget to check out our Service Center to get in your hours! Other than that, I hope you all have a wonderful Winter Break!

“On December 3, 2020, I volunteered to participate in a panel discussing learning during COVID-19. The panel was a 2 hour Zoom call hosted by NevadaPTA and Nevada Succeeds and then broadcasted on Facebook Live to around 500 viewers. During the panel, I was able to share my voice and opinion on the successes and challenges of learning virtually, it has taught my peers and I the importance of time management and organization skills. Although daunting, the experience was extremely insightful. I enjoyed discussing the realities of learning from home and hopefully we were able to show how to adjust the system with our perspective.”

“I was the moderator for the student voice panel hosted by Nevada PTA, Teach Plus Nevada, and Nevada Succeeds. The three organizations focus on quality education and policy for Nevada students. I was asked to moderate this panel by Mrs. Penrod, and I am glad I took on this opportunity.

Through this opportunity, I asked insightful questions to our student panel that had students from SWCTA. I enjoyed moderating and sharing my experiences with our audience!”

“I enjoy doing charity miles very much because I am actually able to contribute hours while doing something productive in my life. I do a lot of physical activity and therefore charity miles are a great way to put that activity to use for the benefit of others rather than just myself. I find comforting to know that I can volunteer and that I’m helping others out in the world even if I’m just strolling through a park or going for a run. I believe we should do more volunteer opportunities like this as it is truly something I enjoy doing. For example, despite the 10 hour cap, I still choose to continue adding and contributing miles towards the app solely for the feel-good sensation that I could be helping someone out in the world.”

~ Alyana Arciaga “The event that I volunteered for was the March of Dimes charity miles. The purpose of this event was to donate money to the March of Dimes charity. Us, the volunteers, were able to donate to the charity through biking, running, and walking. The organization that this event was held under was Charity Miles; an application available on the Play Store and App Store that users can download in order to donate money to charities through biking, running, and walking. I enjoyed walking for charity because it is wonderful to know that by doing an everyday task such as walking, I am able to contribute to such a great cause! This was a great experience and I will continue to do the miles beyond just for service hours.”
