SAFETY PROTOCOL · ON SITE

Protect yourself before you open a tin Chemical-resistant gloves, safety glasses and a suitable respirator Coveralls and closed footwear Ventilate the area and keep fresh air moving Wash promptly if resin touches skin Follow each product's safety data sheet

MATERIAL HANDLING

Store, mix and dispose with care Epoxy cures through an irreversible exothermic reaction. Discipline during batching protects both the floor and the installer. Reference each chemical manufacturer technical data sheet

01

Controlled storage

02

Store resin and hardener sealed, cool and out of direct sun; keep them away from damp floors.

03

Batch sizing and pot life Mix batches small enough to apply within the pot life, before reaction heat accelerates in the bucket and shortens working time.

Exact ratio measurement Mix only the ratio on the product data sheet, measured exactly. Measure by exact volume or weight; never guess or alter hardener quantities.

04

Safe disposal Let leftover mixed material cure completely into a solid inert block before disposal; keep it out of drains. Never pour liquid chemicals down drains.

SUBSTRATE READINESS

Most failures start with the surface A coating adheres only as well as the concrete beneath it. Follow four sequential steps before applying any primer. Inspect the concrete

Mechanical profiling

Check for structural cracks, oil stains, existing paints, and loose laitance.

Diamond grind or shot-blast the slab to achieve an open, porous surface profile.

Test slab moisture Confirm relative humidity; trapped water vapour triggers blisters, pinholes, and delamination.

ICRI surface preparation standard · Always prime immediately after final dust extraction

Patch and vacuum Fill spalls and control joints with epoxy mortar, then vacuum every grain of fine dust.

APPLICATION SYSTEM

Primer, body coat, decorative layer, topcoat Primer seals the concrete and builds adhesion Body coat sets colour and thickness Decorative layer: metallic, flake or 3D effects Topcoat gives a protective, wear-resistant finish Temperature changes pot life and cure; keep traffic off until the data sheet says ready

TROUBLESHOOTING GUIDE

Common problems and their causes Recognising visual defects early allows applicators to rectify problems before handing over the floor.

Field diagnostic chart · Prevent defects by monitoring slab temperature, moisture meters, and batch timers

Pre-job checklist Gear on, area ventilated and cordoned off Surface prepared, dry and dust-free Materials measured, batches planned Temperature and cure time confirmed Finished floor protected until fully cured
