Join AIAA for a multi-media showcase featuring rarely seen archival video that highlights China Lake’s most notable accomplishments!

Among the topics presented are the first rockets developed and used by General Patton’s troops in WWII, China Lake’s contributions to the first atomic bomb, and inventors of Sidewinder and pilots describing the weapon in action. China Lake’s vital work for NASA and JPL on Mars landers and even China Lake’s own attempt to put a satellite in orbit, NOTSNIK, are also highlighted.

The evening also honors our members and contributions they have made to China Lake’s mission. All current members will receive a 50th anniversary gift, and special awards are presented to those celebrating 50 continuous years as AIAA members and those who have given service to our local China Lake chapter.

The American Institute of Aeronautics & Astronautics is the professional society for the field of aerospace engineering. AIAA was founded in 1963 from the merger of the American Rocket Society and the Institute of Aerospace Sciences. The China Lake Section was chartered in February of that year and has been honored to serve professional members throughout the Southern Sierra Nevada for the past 50 years.
