Desert Empire Fairgrounds Ridgecrest and the Indian Wells Valley will be spotlighted in a recorded project pertaining to the Bakersfield Sound. Ridgecrest has played host to Bakersfield Sound Pioneers like Merle Haggard, Bonnie Owens, Billy Mize, Fuzzy Owen, Red Simpson, George French and Lewis Talley among others. Ridgecrest residents Mike Leming and Ted Lemon are teaming up with Nashville native Scott B. Bomar to host a get together with people familiar with the artists from Bakersfield who frequented Ridgecrest. Bomar just completed a Red Simpson Cd boxed set for Bear Family Records in Germany. The booklet in the compilation includes pictures of Ridgecrest performers and dignitaries. Scott is also in the process of assisting in a project for Bear Family featuring Haggard. This is an exciting time for “The Bakersfield Sound”. The Country Music Hall Of Fame recently opened a 5,000 square foot exhibit honoring it, plus “The Billy Mize Story” is scheduled to be released to theatres in 2013. Mike and Ted feel that Ridgecrest should be recognized and remembered for its contribution. The get together will be held Tuesday, July 31 @6pm in the board room of the Desert Empire Fairgrounds. The Burroughs High School TD Club is an elite club whose members support the BHS Football Program and its staff. Members of the club have exclusive access to some of the “behind the scenes” doings of the football program on Friday nights. All members will be given the same coaching shirt worn by the BHS Coaching Staff and its players. They will also receive a Hat or a Season Pass to all REGULAR SEASON home games. In addition, all members will be invited to come down on the field during the varsity football team pregame warm-ups. Of course all members will be invited to join all pregame tailgating.

The TD Club is an organization that has an annual membership. It is made up of any and all ages, male or female, alumni or non-alumni. Anyone is welcome to become a member of this elite football club. The annual fee is $300 per year. It is a donation to the BHS Booster Club in support of the football program.
