Themla Jeanne Cooper passed away on Wednesday, March 1, 2023 at the High Desert Haven Rest Home in Ridgecrest, CA. She was born July 19, 1935 in Holtville, CA. She met the love of her life Donald William Cooper, early after high school and lived the life of a Navy wife as he deployed across the country before they settled down in Ridgecrest, Caifornia and began raising a family. They had two sons and one daughter, who went on to raise families of their own. She worked at NAWCWD, China Lake as a secretary at various branches, to include the SPARROW program office, before retiring in the late 1980’s as several of her grandchildren were born. Thelma is survived by her youngest son, Jeffrey Cooper, her brother-in-law Douglas; her son Derek’s wife Tracy and niece Stevanni; her daughter Susan’s husband Russell Petersen Sr.; grandchildren- Russell Petersen Jr.; Kaleana Bartholic, Jaclyn Morales; great grandchildren- Zoey Morales, Sophia Morales, Khloe Cooper, Haley Cooper, Colbie Bartholic and Bailey Bartholic. Thelma was preceeded in death by her husband Donald, oldest son Derek Cooper, daughter Susan, grandson Mojave Cooper and grandson Jeffrey Cooper Jr. Thelma was a dutiful wife, a doting mother, and a generous grandmother. She was proud of her work whether it was on the base or in her home. Everywhere she went she made people smile through her kindness or charm. Her loss is a great sadness but her memory will always be a comfort to those that knew her in life. The memorial service will be held at Crossroads Community Church in Ridgecrest on Saturday, March 26th at 2:00p.m.
