VISION- RECONNECT THE SITE BACK TO THE CITY Vision : Reconnect the Site Back to the City by creating a “Grand Cultural Forum”
Narrative: Shahu mill was started by Ch. Shahu Maharaj with a vision to empower people of Kolhapur with jobs & knowledge to enter the industrial age of that time. That idea & power of vision, to empower Kolhapur residents, is restored in our proposal by providing ample opportunities for learning, working, and entertaining though this ‘Culture Forum’ in the

Careful juxtaposition of historical buildings (through Adaptive refuse and restoration) alongside new proposed buildings is an attempt to honour our past & celebrate our future….

The chimney which today stands as a beacon/ reminder of Shahu mill’s glorious past, acts as a fulcrum & connects the “Cultural Forum” to different Axis points such as Kotitirth /Rankala Lake,Rajarampuri, New Palace & Shivaji University in the background The Forum is activated through series of experiences through public spaces such “walk of remembrance, interpretive wall, public plaza and waterfront promenade with amphitheatre and band stand.
