The redevelopment vision plan for Pune station looks at the possibility of what stations could look like in the High-Speed Rail environment that the Indian Railways is pursuing rigorously.
Located on a 36 acre site, the current Pune station is envisioned as a massive redevelopment plan of a mixed use nature with 24x7 operations. It can be the “grand central station of western Maharashtra”.
The envisioned Concept plan for Pune Railway station will consist of a lower concourse to house the train platforms and upper concourse to house local transit system. On the ground floor level will be the street entrance with retail shops and restaurants. Upper floors will be dedicated to house the offices of railways for western division. Remaining project will be developed into commercial buildings with leasable office space, a Convention Halls with a five star hotel tower to generate the revenue and self-finance the project.
