Learn about film making...

If you’ve ever dreamt of making a documentary film, this is the course for you. Delivered by Iconic Steps, the course teaches you everything you need to know about how to develop and pitch documentary ideas and then to develop the chosen concept into a documentary to screen to family and friends. Media professionals who work within the industry provide expert guidance to course participants and will help them to forge crucial contacts; set up interviews; film vox pops; and, ultimately, edit a final cut. Working closely with experts will help to improve both your skills and employment opportunities. This course is open to Swan residents aged 16-25. Learn to code

Programming language is an important part of our daily lives that many of us don’t appretiate. Applications on our mobile phones and TVs all start as a series of computer code! Swan have teamed up with Decoded, a leading professional trainer to deilver a four-week course, which could lead to employment in one of the fastest growing industries in the world. This course would normally cost £1,500 to attend but it is FREE for successful applicants. You don’t need any previous experience, just a curiosity as to how things work and an interest in writing computer code. This course will be held in March and we are registering interest today! Bow Cross concierge Anna Ciszek (pictured top row, fourth from the right) won the ‘Concierge/CCTV Operator of the Year’ award at Swan’s annual Caretaking Awards held at The Reach Community Centre Blackwall Reach in December. Jorgen Dyer, Head of Estate Services said “Anna won this award because of her dedication and professional service. This year she has taken on other Estate Services responsibilities above and beyond her regular role.” Alina Wojcik-Waracka (pictured top row, second from right), one of Swan’s mobile Caretakers scooped the coveted ‘Caretaker of the Year’ award. The awards recognise the hard work that the Estate Services Team do to keep all of Swan’s estates safe, clean and well maintained at all times.
