SwanCare Christmas Lights Trail This year to get into the Christmas spirit we are planning to have a Christmas lights competition in the village with prizes for the most popular displays. Residents from our care centres will tour the village leading up to Christmas and vote on the lights and there will also be various participation prizes drawn randomly. There is no need to register, and participation is optional, but it would be really nice to see SwanCare show off some of its Christmas spirit! As a reminder, if you are putting up bright and flashy displays to be mindful of your neighbours during the late hours of the night – please turn off light displays by 10.00pm. The Darts Group are a fun bunch of residents who like coming together for a few games of darts, as well as a casual chat and drinks. Self-described as a “not so serious group” there are people who come just to watch, there new commers, as well as the more experienced darts players – all are welcome! “Over the years, I have enjoyed being part of the darts group as there have been many wonderful people I have met there… it’s a good night out with lots of good people and you haven’t got far to go home”, said Thelma, Group President. The games we play on a Monday night, when scoring is done manually, are: 401, 51, Killer, and Football. On Friday, scoring is done by computer (self-coded by group member, Doug), there are many more games to be played including Checkout, Scram, Noughts and Crosses, to name just a few. “Most memorable moment in the group was some years back when there were 20 or more players and we would have dress-ups for Christmas and lots of laughs and good cheer – we’d love to do that again! And moving into the leisure centre was very memorable as well!” said Thelma. Darts will recess after Friday 17th December 2021 and resume on Monday 10th January 2022. The Darts Group encourage you to make darts your priority at the start of the New Year and hope to see you there When: 5:45pm to start at 6pm Mondays & Fridays Where: The Club, Leisure Precinct

Village Residents’ Advisory Council We have had a busy year, full of interesting events and quite a few changes. Thank you to the residents who responded to our call for new council members. We now have a full complement of ten members. Although the VRAC title needs to remain in the SwanCare constitution, we have decided to begin our 20th year with a new name – Bentley Park Resident’s Committee. Best wishes to everyone for a peaceful and happy Christmas and New Year. The first residents meeting for 2022 will be on Tuesday January 18th. Social Dance Our last dance for the year was a great success. It was lovely to see so many people in Christmas colours having a lot of fun participating in twenty different dances which consisted of country, line, and novelty dances. My sincere thanks to Pam who leads the line dances, to Bev whose delicious suppers we enjoy, and to all the other folk whose help makes this evening possible. Our next dance will be on Saturday 25th January and then a special dance on 19th February with Adam Penn. All welcome. Thank you for your support all year. Wishing you all a happy and safe Christmas. Line Dancing What a great year for Line Dancing and I hope you all enjoyed it as much as I did. Apart from the dancing, I love meeting up with everyone socially and I consider this to be an important part of the morning. We went from one session to having a second intermediate session as well which has been very popular. We had our demo at the Bentley Park Show which I think everyone enjoyed and was great for the beginners’ confidence. Amazing what you can do with

Swan Village Bowling Club As the weather continues to get warmer, and with fewer wet days, we are changing to night bowls. The decision for this was made by the committee after a “straw poll” of members at an appropriate opportunity. Our final social outing for the year will be our Christmas lunch at R.A.F.F.A. Bullcreek on Thursday 2nd December (now fully booked out). We continue to see an encouraging increase in numbers turning up to bowl and a very welcome increase in membership. As usual, Wednesday

Writing Club Our thanks to those who visited our stand at the Village Show. We had some interesting chats, including from people who may become residents here before long!
