SwanCare retirement living resident, Thelma Chilton, wanted to help others have a reason to get out of the house. “I wanted to start this activity to give residents another opportunity for a nibble, drink, and catch up on a Friday night,” she said. When Thelma brainstormed about what the activity could be, she wanted to try and find something that everyone could participate in. “The best thing about the activity we came up with is that it doesn’t rely on skill or knowledge, instead just a bit of luck,” laughed Thelma. There is a cost to this event, but don’t let that put you off as the funds raised benefit you as a resident. “The best thing about the event is that all funds raised goes back into the village for the benefit of all residents,” said Thelma. The activity is something that has not been done at SwanCare Bentley Park before. For $5.00 you get entry into the event, nibbles, and a ticket for the chance to win cash by picking the Ace of Spades. If the card is not picked on the night, the lucky person still wins $50, but the total winnings jackpot by $50 each week until the Ace of Spades is unveiled. There is also a raffle with tickets available from $1.00 each.

Why not get a group together and come try your luck!

Would you like to do a little exercise in the morning? We are not a club as such, just a gathering of people who have become friends. We would love to greet some new faces. The session only takes 25 minutes finishing with a friendly tea or coffee and natter.

We have all been beginners and don’t mind if you take a while to pick up the dances. It was a wonderful evening with Adam Penn as DJ and so good to see so many line dancers up on the floor. We have also had requests from Claudia from SwanCare Ningana for nice cups, saucers, and side plates for the residents when they have a special morning tea. We have had some success sourcing these items, but more is always very welcome. If anyone is wanting to go on the Fashion Parade Bus to Armadale in October, please register your interest as soon as possible. There is no Auxiliary meeting September.
