Each Qigong class has been attended with enthusiasm since it started in October last year. “It seems that it is becoming more popular with each session as the word spreads about how well people feel after the class,” said class instructor, Doreen Boss. The Qigong class runs for approximately 45 minutes. This year Doreen has added meditation for those who choose to stay after class, lasting around 30 minutes. “My style of meditation is a short positive discussion/ story, followed by guided meditation,” said Doreen. Qi (pronounced Chi) is the vital life force or energy which this 18 movement Qigong Shibashi allows to

follow, leaving one with feelings of wellbeing, health, and vitality. It is taught as a healing art in traditional Chinese medical schools and is also recommended by the U.N. Development Program worldwide. “I have been facilitating this subject for almost 20 years,” said Doreen. “I practice every day, it was particularly useful during lock downs as you can do it in the garden. It takes you to a calm place.” The group welcomes new members and there is no experience necessary. “You will go home feeling both peaceful and energised, ready to greet the day,” said Doreen. That settles it, why not try the next class! January 31st, I need to see your Covid-19 vaccination certificate, either phone or hard copy, before you can join in the line dancing. If you are new or haven’t been for some time and I haven’t ticked your name off, please come before 9.20am. I can’t be at the door checking vax certificates and on the stage demonstrating at the same time. Thanks for your cooperation. Hopefully we will be able to continue with line dancing despite restrictions. If it comes to the crunch, I might need to take smaller groups on the balcony of the Leisure Centre, but I will keep it going if I possibly can. Please make sure I have your email details so I can contact you if things change.
