SWAN VILLAGE BOWLING CLUB

SOCIAL DANCE

GARDENS INTEREST GROUP

The sausage sizzle will be rescheduled for a later date. Our next outing is to the Herdsman Hotel for lunch on Thursday 25th March. Details will be displayed on the noticeboard. Bookings for the lunch will close after bowls on Saturday 20th March.

Light supper, tea and coffee provided. Please bring your own cup. Door prizes. Ballroom, line, novelty and fun dances. Depending on COVID, some restrictions may apply with regard to serving the supper and to the choice of dances. If partner dancing is allowed Ballroom and New Vogue dances can be included. However, people who live together can dance together. Everyone welcome. You don’t have to dance, come along for the music and a chat.

There will not be a meeting in March.

Our first gala day for this year will be the Murray Ranyard Shield to be held on Saturday 20th March. This is anticipated to be a night game followed with a light supper. Nomination forms and details are posted on the noticeboard with nominations closing Monday 15th March after bowls. Members are encouraged to nominate to compete for the club trophy. All village residents are most welcome to come and try their hand at bowls.

PHOTOGRAPHY CLUB WRITING CLUB Interested in writing your life story or maybe writing a book? FISH ‘N’ CHIPS ON STRATTON HEART FOUNDATION WALKING GROUP Residents of Rowethorpe and Bentley Park are welcome to join us for a 30 minute walk. We start at 7.30am every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday morning. The walks are free to join and are followed by tea and coffee and a chat. A great way to make new friends! Walk at your own pace. Some stride it out while others go along at a more leisurely pace or use walking frames.

FRIDAY NIGHT FLICKS We regret that Covid-19 prevented our Friday Night Flicks screening in February; but thanks to a very kind licensing authority, we have been able to transfer our license for ‘Thoroughly Modern Millie’. Starring Julie Andrews, Mary Tyler Moore, Carol Channing and James Fox. Millie Dillmount comes to town in the roaring twenties to encounter flappers, sexuality, and white slavers. There will be a refreshment break. The SwanCare bus begins picking up at 6.00pm, and takes you back home. Please note that the showing of Millie will be a week later than usual, because the setting up for the State Election in the Auditorium will take place on our normal night. Next month’s movie will also be on a different night: Jesus Christ Superstar will be shown on Good Friday, 2nd April.

VILLAGE RESIDENTS ADVISORY COUNCIL (VRAC) The March Coffee Morning meeting will be on Tuesday 16th. Our speaker will be Leanne LeBrun who will talk about the process of moving from independent living to residential care. This is one of the most significant and challenging decisions many of us will face, so we hope that you will find the Leanne’s talk informative and useful.
