SWAN VILLAGE BOWLING CLUB

EMBROIDERY GROUP

The recent AGM endorsed a new committee of: Jim Leavy as president, Angie Wieman as vice president, Chris Simms as secretary, Jim Figgins as treasurer and committee members Heather Williams, Beth Tas, Barry Williams, Cecil Cahill, Dave Newlan and Len Bell.

Meet up by the fire and work on your creative projects with some sociable chatter. Please bring your own materials for embroidery, knitting, other creative projects. All welcome!

During September we farewelled Tom and Nancy Brazier from the club. Tom has been a committee member for many years, serving as president on several occasions. Nancy also served the committee for many years, several as secretary. The club wishes them the very best for their future! There will be a member’s only sausage sizzle on Wednesday 21st October. Details of future events will be posted on the club notice board closer to the relevant dates. A reminder that annual club fees are now due.

The guest speaker for the October Coffee Morning will be Tessa Jupp. Tessa is from the Polio Clinic WA, and the topic will be ‘Old solutions to New health problems’. She will give us some information on Polio, and then talk about various easy solutions to minor health problems.

CARE CENTRES AUXILIARY The auxiliary will resume this month with the meeting being held in the auditorium and followed by a Fashion Parade from Kings Park Fashions. Here is your chance to check out the Spring/Summer fashions without having to go to the large shopping centres. Afternoon tea will be provided but please bring your own cup or mug. November 24th is the AGM and members and nonmembers are encouraged to join the committee.

HEART FOUNDATION WALKING GROUP

COFFEE AND CATCH UP CLUB

Residents of Rowethorpe and Bentley Park are welcome to join us for a 30 minute walk. We start at 7.30am every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings. The walks are free to join and are followed by tea and coffee and a chat. A great way to make new friends! Walk at your own pace. Some stride it out while others go along at a more leisurely pace or use walking frames.

An informal get together for people who haven’t be out much or people who would like to chat and relax with friendly folks. Make new friends or meet with old ones. All welcome!

HANDICRAFT Handicraft now has a new home in the Activity Room, ground floor of the Leisure Centre. We would love to see any new people who wish to come and bring their knowledge of craft - everyone is very welcome to join us.

LINE DANCING Do you want to improve your fitness, balance and coordination with a gentle fun exercise? Why not give Line Dancing a try? I demonstrate and we “walk through” all the dances or you can just watch and join us for morning tea. We’re a very friendly group and welcome new people.

Social Evening: The September dance was a fun evening enjoyed by all. Thanks to all who came and to Pam and all the helpers who make the evening possible. More details to follow for our next dance!

THE DUTCH CLUB

VISION IMPAIRED GROUP Are you losing your vision, and finding it harder to do those things that you’ve taken for granted all your life? Do you feel isolated and are you worried about what life holds for you in the future? Why not come along to our support group and get to know others in the same boat. You might be surprised who you come across.

When: 1:00pm 23rd October (4th Friday of each month) for coffee, lots of chat and plenty of laughter

Cost: $1 per game. Lucky numbers 50c.

MAHJONG CLUB Never played it? Give it a go! It’s fascinating, fun & friendly. Guarantee guidance!

Don’t forget that the SwanCare bus begins its run at 6pm for free transport to the Auditorium, and home again afterwards. Doors open at 6pm, and movies begin promptly at 6.30pm with a refreshment break. No need to book for the movie or the bus – just turn up! Any children under 16 will not be charged.
