April 2013 bentley park resident newsletter Across My Desk CEO’s Report Let’s kick of this month’s article on a series of congratulatory announcements:-
Congratulations First up, SwanCare Group has been advised that its Australind Rise Community has scooped the pool in the recent Master Builders Association (MBA) South West Awards. At the prestigious awards ceremony held in Bunbury on the 23rd March, our Australind Rise Community was awarded winner in the following categories:-
This news is wonderful validation for the entire team that have been behind the creation of what is now an award winning development - Congratulations Australind Rise Community. Congratulations to the hard-working committee and members of the SwanCare Group Bowling Club. During March, in my role as Patron of the Club, I had the privilege of officially opening the new bowling green, and was given the prestigious honour of sending down the first official bowl which symbolised the christening of the new synthetic surface. To my sheer surprise and delight, I did not totally embarrass myself with the bowl, and with an injection of luck, managed to get somewhere in the vicinity of the kitty.
• Best Commercial / Industrial building under $1.M – Australind Rise Community Centre • Best multi residential development over $3.0M – Australind Rise Independent Living Units • Most liveable project – Australind Rise Independent Living Units These three awards are due recognition of the hard-work, dedication and many, many months of planning that went into the development of both the Independent Living Units and the recently completed Community Centre. Whilst we have had a challenging time with the property market in the South-West, there has been no denying the quality, design and functionality of the Australind Rise product, which has been aptly acknowledged by the MBA.

The Bowling Club Committee and their members have shown great stewardship and focus over the last 10 years to have managed their club and its finances in such a way that they have been able to accumulate the necessary level of funds to finance the resurfacing of this major community asset. To demonstrate our support, and to acknowledge the broad organisational benefits that the bowling green brings, SwanCare Group administration also made a small contribution towards the capital cost of this upgrade.
Bentley Park Social Club Quiz Night - 6th April
The bowling green is a major attraction to our village, and it is the key centrepiece of our Community Centre. I mentioned in my opening address that SwanCare Group is extremely proud of this community asset, and that this facility directly contributes to the on-going success of Bentley Park in that it is a major factor in influencing the decision of many residents as to why they chose to move into our community. With regular up-keep, combined with sound operational practices this new surface will bring many years of enjoyment to a large number of current and potential new residents. Congratulations to the SwanCare Group activities staff who organised the very successful Harmony Day celebrations that were held at our care facilities on the 21st and 22nd of March. Held over two days at both Waminda, and then Kingia, Harmony Day symbolises the unique blending of cultures that we are very proud to have at SwanCare Group. More importantly, this event, serves to bring our community together as one. The Harmony Day brings together staff, residents, families and volunteers with the purpose of celebrating our unique heritage and refocussing us with the one common goal, being to “Enrich the lives of everyone in our community” – this Continued Page 3 event did just that.
