Established over 40 years ago, Express Freight Services (EFS) has proved itself to be one of the most versatile and flexible road transport operators in the industry. We have a modern fleet with state of the art operating system allowing us to be both efficient and professional at all times.

Specialising in the container market we can offer a solution however large or small your needs, from single container deliveries to fully managed contract options to suit both you and your customer’s needs.

Operating from all of the major UK ports we utilise night trunking operations to position containers at the closest available depot thus avoiding daytime traffic congestion and ultimately providing a more efficient service. We can accommodate secure storage

of both empty and loaded containers at all of our depots. Being part of the Swain Group we have access to a full range of Transport solutions outside of our Container operations.

Container Transport Full UK coverage

We operate our fleet from all the UK ports and can offer 24hr delivery solutions.

Container haulage is a distinct and highly specialised sector of the haulage and transport industry. Much more than simply loading containers and delivering to a port. It requires specialist knowledge of how ports operate as well synchronising with sailing schedules and in-port container handling systems and processes. Whether you are shipping a single container or hundreds, our professional and experienced team can provide all the expert advice you need.

Side Lifting Trailers

We have the ability to lift your container to the ground and either wait to unload or leave for you to unload at your leisure.

Our Mega Lift trailer is capable of lifting 35t in any combination of 20’,30’ or even 40’ boxes in 2 minutes this one person operating trailer has the flexibility to place a box wherever the customer needs it on the floor, or should the customer require it the trailer can load a train carriage.

Genset Transport

Refrigerated haulage is a specialist service that Express Freight has been providing for more than a decade. Throughout this time, we have created a modern service that has been designed to meet the requirements of a wide range of customers.

We have the ability to transport 20ft, 40ft and 45ft reefer containers. All cargo will be delivered at the correct set temperature. We have advance systems in place that ensure processes are managed effectively.

ADR Transport

Our team of ADR Transportation compliant drivers can transport containerised dangerous goods whilst complying with all the rules and regulations.

We have a modern fleet of highly-maintained and serviced vehicles, ensuring they are suitable to handle the safe transportation of your dangerous goods. When it comes to transporting dangerous goods, we can assure you that your products are in safe hands. We are certified, qualified and experienced in taking care of your needs and your products throughout the entire process.

Our team of highly skilled drivers have undergone ADR training and are experienced in transporting dangerous goods. Our drivers carry Personal Protective Equipment on board, ensuring that we take care of safety wherever possible. Our vehicles are ADR approved and equipped and our drivers hold the relevant licence and upto-date training, ensuring they understand ADR transport regulations and what is required to transport your goods safely.

Focusing on sustainable business

In 2021 we published our new sustainability strategy and goals. We need to identify what ‘net-zero carbon’ logistics means for our customers and when it can be achieved.

Through new technologies, we are identifying opportunities to drive fewer miles, consume less fuel while maintaining performance. For example, applying data from our telematics technology to promote improved driver behaviour, shows how a smoother driver uses less fuel and generates fewer emissions; a comprehensive Transport Management System helps us better plan routes to reduce miles; and a rolling programme of fleet modernisation means we are driving the most efficient and highest performing fleet.

Our ultimate goal is to transition to zeroemission technologies across all sectors once the technologies are available at scale.
