In memory of Muhammad Ali who not only was a boxer in life but his convictions as a boxer and a person who stood up to many things. Muhammad Ali, the three-time world heavyweight boxing champion who helped define his turbulent times as the most charismatic and controversial sports figure of the 20th century. But he was more than the sum of his athletic gifts. An agile mind, a buoyant personality, a brash self-confidence and an evolving set of personal convictions fostered a magnetism that the ring alone could not contain. He entertained as much with his mouth as with his fists, narrating his life with a patter of inventive doggerel. (“Me! Wheeeeee!”) Ali was as polarizing a superstar as the sports world has ever produced — both admired and vilified in the 1960s and ’70s for his religious, political and social stances. His refusal to be drafted during the Vietnam War, his rejection of racial integration at the height of the civil rights movement, his conversion from Christianity to Islam and the changing of his “slave” name, Cassius Clay, to one bestowed by the separatist black sect he joined, the Lost-Found Nation of Islam, were perceived as serious threats by the conservative establishment and noble acts of defiance by the liberal opposition. Loved or hated, he remained for 50 years one of the most recognizable people on the planet.

WHO WILL GET YOUR VOTE?

oday, we live in a very troubling time, when Donald Trump is the Republican nominee for President of the United States, and Hillary Clinton as the Democratic Nominee. The general theme for the Republicans is Donald Trump will unify the Republicans. What stands out to me how they make so many promises, bring the jobs back, build a wall, limit foreigners from immigrating to the United States and make America great again. Well, frankly when did America fall from grace. Let’s break it down there is a lot Hillary bashing, especially the email controversy. The speakers at the RNC time and time again speak of the hypocrisy of the Clintons. A preacher from South Carolina, opened the final day of the RNC stating with great fervor “all lives matter”. They say Donald Trump, will put money back into our pockets, make our streets safe, take down the terrorists, protect the second amendment, due to the fact that he is an avid gun owner and hunter so there is no surprise there! He says, he would nullify NAFTA and renegotiate existing trade agreements, and make our allies pay for our services. Lots of lofty promises, but that is what politicians do! Now granted he is definitely, the most unorthodox politician to seek the office of president in my lifetime and I am sure there are a lot of entrenched Washington insiders very nervous at the prospect of Donald J. Trump being elected. During, the orchestrated pageantry, of the RNC Donald J. Trump has orchestrated a cross section of speakers, immigrants, victims of violence, a LGBT venture capitalist and founder of PayPal. A former rival Ted Cruz, who many thought would support Donald Trump, gave a speech and refused to support Mr. Trump, which stunned the crowd, who in turn ultimately booed him off the stage. Some the Republican elite did speak out of an obligatory commitment to the party. They spoke about Libya, and all that happened there, which probably was already on a collision course of discontent from those factions in the middle east that have been brewing for a long time and will continue long after Donald Trump or whoever will be in office. Their differences have been going on for centuries. It was ironic, that the Transgender issue has put the Republicans on the defensive, due to the recent law in North Carolina. Mr. Trump’s views are not only factually false; it’s a wildly distorted view of all the nation stands for. One would think that if Mr. Trump believed this dystopia existed, he would have a clear and detailed plan for change. But, as always, he has only his empty sales pitch to offer. “I’m with you, I will fight for you, and I will win for you,”

he says. Granted, Mr. Trump trounced 16 rivals and won 37 states by crude, boastful force. Refusing ever to acknowledge error, he has aimed to “knock the hell” out of all who rejected his vision of an America made great again, denying inconvenient facts or inventing convenient ones. The more he was dismissed by Republican politicians, the more he fired up voters angered by the same treatment. In the end virtually nobody in active Republican leadership stood up to him. He dispatched Jeb Bush, scion of the party’s old guard, early on. When the House speaker, Paul Ryan, didn’t immediately endorse Mr. Trump, he lashed out, saying that Mr. Ryan was “not ready” to support his big-thing agenda. Soon after, Mr. Ryan crumpled, and now, almost daily, he offers weak defenses of Mr. Trump’s ideas and conduct. Ted Cruz, Mr. Trump’s chief primary rival, has emerged as one of the few Republicans to look beyond this political cycle, consider his own honor, and refuse to truckle to the nominee. Mr. Trump savaged Mr. Cruz during the primaries, sowing doubts about his citizenship, encouraging misogynistic attacks on his wife, and implying that his father was involved in John F. Kennedy’s assassination. Mr. Cruz used his prime-time convention speaking slot during the RNC, to exact revenge, speaking for more than 20 minutes without endorsing Mr. Trump, while the candidate stewed. It was doubtless a calculated move on Mr. Cruz’s part, but it was refreshing to see Mr. Trump at last reap some consequences for his vile tactics. The consequences for the Republican Party still lie ahead. Mr. Trump emerged as a political force with the racist claim that President Obama was not born in the United States. He has since sought advantage by playing to disaffected people’s worst instincts, inventing scapegoats and conspiracy theories, waging and inciting vicious attacks on those who disagree with him. Rocking the party with DJ Kal Banz

K

al Banz DJ/Producer who recently graduated from University of North Texas, says some of his inspirations for music and becoming a Disc Jockey were DJ Jazzy Jeff, DJ Craze and DJ A-Track. In our interview, DJ Kal Banz says, “When I’m spinning I focus on the essence of being a DJ!” “I’m rocking the party!” DJ Kal Banz says “I just kinda of picked up on spinning music and it stuck with me.” Now people pay me to spin at their parties, he says with conviction. Traditionally, Kal Banz technique is with vinyl. He likes to spin all genres of music, Rap, Hip-Hop, and EDM. Although his main focus is hip-hop he states. He has been producing for about 12 years now, and recently had a record released with Wale. He has also collaborated with Chaz French, Wale, Phil Ade and Mya. He likes to give the artist he is working with a sense of direction when he collaborates with artists. Clearly, Kal Banz is definitely on the radar, so stay tuned. Simply Eccentric - Willium Sterling illium says, with some hesitation I have been in the business professionally for about 10 years now. I start our interview with the standard questions to break the ice some. Willium, says with a smile in his voice, I cater to the youth, who he believes are the future. With great passion in his voice he says his demographics are today’s young men and women ages 25-40 who he likes to cater to. He speaks enthusiastically, about his early inspiration, which was his great grandmother who was a model with the iconic and pioneering Ebony Fashion Fair in the 70’s. “My great grandmother taught me how to cut he says.” “I have very deep roots, inspired by nature and the way the wind blows.” Willium, pauses for a moment and passionately explains that emotions truly inspire him, along with colors. He wants people to feel the feeling when they are wearing clothing that he designs. “National inspiration, like breathing, he says.” Willium, says he got into the business, when his cousin Queen Latifah, invited him to and all-white party in Las Vegas for Mayweather, and through the interactions with people he got his spark and has not looked back since. He says one of his goals is to be a designer who can walk the red carpet. “I want to make fashion how it was years ago, image is everything.” “Trust everyone truly enjoys making people look better so they can feel better.” “I don’t want to be famous just want to be known as the designer whose clothes look good on you and make you feel good!” Willium says, I have been doing make-up for a very long time, and likes to work with materials to make people look better, Willium, fell into doing makeup at fashion shows years ago where he had to do his own makeup and honed his craft. At this point in his life Willium says, he is ready to put the brush down and sit at his machine. Doing makeup has kept him floating and he has been to do makeup internationally. Spirituality is very important to Willium when he is doing his craft. “I feel like the universe speaks to me and the air that floats around in it.” He would like to be an ad for people, for their hair, and conversation. Willium feels like, the genuine conversations with people today is missing. When he was 7 years old people called him the “Ultra Human” because he liked to be outside, where feels his connections through nature. In final Willium is truly, “simply eccentric”.

The Sky is the limit: Kristina WilsonSports/Entertainment Attorney

ristina grew up in the inner city of Detroit. She is a product of a loving single parent household where her mom was her “superhero”. Her grandparents also had a very strong influence in her life. Kristina’s family members have blue-collar backgrounds and are all union workers. They instilled in her that she could do whatever she wants to do. “My, mom told me at 8 years old, I could be the first black female President of the United States, and I took it and ran with it. I did my research and thought that you needed to know the law and to be President of the United States. That was the catalyst for me going to law school and deciding to become a lawyer.” By her senior year in high school Kristina no longer had political aspirations. Kristina had developed new interest. At the time, Kristina was an athlete who played basketball, was a cheerleader, and ran track and field becoming a Michigan State Regional Champ in 100m High hurdles and the 4x1 relay in high school. She also was apart of the National Honor Society and Business Professionals of America. At the end of her high school career, Kristina decided that she would major in Sports Management, which combined her love of business, sports and law, that she developed in high school, into one career.

Today, Kristina feels that “No matter your background, you can live your dreams! Don’t let anyone or anything stop you!” Kristina’s dream of becoming an attorney was realized in 2014 when she received her Juris Doctor from Loyola University Chicago School of Law and after successfully passing the bar, was sworn in as licensed Attorney in the State of Michigan. After law school, Kristina participated in a yearlong fellowship program named “Challenge Detroit” which gave her the opportunity to gain tremendous work experience form a dynamic host company as well as a way to give back to the city of Detroit. After concluding Challenge Detroit, Kristina did not want to sit back and wait for people to give her a job. Her proactive and entrepreneurial spirit led her to start the Law Office of Kristina T. Wilson, P.C. in September 2015. Kristina desires to use her law firm to help corporate and individual clients with their sports, entertainment and business needs. Kristina started her practice with 8 clients and now has about 20.

In order to further expand her law firm, Kristina decided to move to the mecca of sports and entertainment, Los Angeles, CA. In June 2016, Kristina packed her car and moved to California to continue the dream. “There should never be an end to your dreams. There is always another to dream to realize. Never put a cap or a limit on yourself or what you are able to do!” Kristina is currently pursuing a license in California in addition to Michigan bar license. Kristina also sits on multiple nonprofit boards that focus youth attaining college awareness, while building self-esteem and confidence to live their dreams. As a first generation college and law school graduate, Kristina knows all about pursuing dreams and the obstacles that may challenge that dream. Kristina uses her law firm to help people who want to be in sports, entertainment and business to understand the language of contracts, estate planning, and business formations. How to Make it Reign. Reign noun 1.the period during which a sovereign occupies the throne. 2.royal rule or authority; sovereignty. 3.dominating power or influence: verb (used without object) 4.to possess or exercise sovereign power or authority. 5.to hold the position and name of sovereign without exercising the ruling power. 6.to have control, rule, or influence of any kind. 7.to predominate; be prevalent.

Much like a reign, a successful life is akin to the feeling of power or influence in your own domain. You may not be the leader of a large kingdom but everyone can have a piece of the throne. It is all a matter of developing your own sense of power and control over what you envision your life to be. Unlike the monarchy, most of us are not born into our success. We have to work for it. This is the grind before the throne. This time you spend before your reign may not be the most glamorous but it is rich with experience that will define your success. These six key steps are sure to help you make it reign. 1. IDENTIFY YOUR PASSION Your passion is that thing that excites you and makes you eager to get out of bed every morning. Your passion drives you. If you are unsure of what that is give yourself a moment to take inventory of your life. Look back on your childhood for clues. It is usually connected to the activities you played for hours on end, the ideas you daydreamed about over and over again, and the pastime that we could not stop talking about. If you could live in a fantasy, doing anything you wanted with no limits, and you knew you would reach the highest success, what would that be? Your answer to this will probably direct you to your passion. 2. IDENTIFY YOUR STRENGTHS AND BARRIERS Everyone has them. What are you really good at? What things have you been recognized for? What is your specialty? Be honest about what you are not good at too. These weaknesses are mere areas of growth that you may develop or might steer you in a different direction. If you are struggling to figure this out, friends and family who know you well and

coworkers and supervisors who have worked with you are rich with information about what you do best. 3. IDENTIFY RESOURCES TO ADDRESS BARRIERS (ESPECIALLY PEOPLE) Pay close attention to what is standing in your way. These barriers must be addressed by identifying strategies and resources to help you. One of your most valuable assets are people. Identify individuals who can help you develop your areas of weakness and reduce the barriers between you and the life you want. 4. IDENTIFY YOUR PATH Goal setting is imperative. And not just any goal, it must be smart. S.M.A.R.T. goals identify specific outcomes that you wish to attain. These outcomes are measureable, attainable and relevant to your skills and interests. They are also time limited. With such a goal it is easy to know whether or not you have attained it. It is not enough to want to be an entrepreneur. Be specific! Identify your S.M.A.R.T. goal as an entrepreneur selling mini organic cupcakes by January 2018 because you have a culinary degree and a special family recipe. With this goal you know specifically what your business will be and you have the requisite skills and background to make it happen. By January 2018 you will know if you have reached your goal. Once your S.M.A.R.T. goal is developed you must set a plan for how you will get there. You can do this by developing smaller goals to help you reach your large one. Before becoming an entrepreneur selling organic cupcakes you might decide you need to develop a business plan, take a cake decorating class, and get a business license. Each step will help you meet your larger goal. 5. FOLLOW YOUR PATH Once your plan is developed follow it! Sometimes starting is the hardest part because the goal seems so big. Take each step one by one because the plan works only if you take the steps to reach it. 6. ADJUST ACCORDINGLY Life happens. And it is never perfect. Your plan should be a guide but along the way you might have to adjust your plan in order to reach your goal. And, sometimes your goals change. There is nothing wrong with this. In fact it is to be expected. The path to your reign is a marathon, not a sprint. There is no such thing as overnight success. It is really a succession of moves in the right direction.
