HAVE YOU HEARD? Many of you may have read last quarter that SWACU has a new President/CEO. My name is Cynde Jones and I’ve been working in the Credit Union industry since 1993. I have been with Southwest Airlines Federal Credit Union since 1996. I started as the Member Service Supervisor and served in many areas at various levels over the 24 years at SWACU. I guess you can say I grew up here. This experience provides a unique perspective on what we do well and where we can still improve. As I shared with our staff recently, I am here to serve PEOPLE. That means our internal credit union staff and YOU, our members. We already have great products, services and rates (how about that 4% checking

account?). We have a wonderful, caring and flexible staff. We know that service and great products are what set us apart from our BIG BANK competitors. We will never stop striving to make these areas even better. Over the past many years, we have implemented suggestions from our members on how we can be even better. We appreciate the feedback we receive and take the trends of information very seriously. In coming months and years, you will begin to hear where we plan to improve technology so that our amazing members all over the country (and, in some cases, all over the world) can have enhanced access to their credit union. We will also begin to share staff highlights so you can put a face with a name. Product and service highlights are coming so you can learn more about what folks love about SWACU. Member spotlights will take shape with testimonials about what SWACU has meant to their families.

SWACU 2019 We will hold our Annual Meeting at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, December 12, 2019. The Annual Meeting will be held at Southwest Airlines Federal Credit Union which is located at 2430 Shorecrest, Dallas, TX 75235. This year there are three positions open for election on the Board of Directors. ANNUAL MEETING
Further nominations may be made by official petition signed by 500 eligible members. Official petitions and the rules and instructions for the completion of the official petition may be obtained by contacting Carol Hughes, Executive Assistant, at the Credit Union home office which is located at 2430 Shorecrest, Dallas, Texas 75235, between the hours of 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Official petitions must be completed in full compliance with the election rules as set forth in the rules and instructions for the completion of the official petition and must include each signer’s signature and printed name, the last 4 digits of the signer’s member number, and the signer’s complete address and telephone number. Members who are 18 years of age or older and who meet certain requirements under the Federal Credit Union Act and the Bylaws of Southwest Airlines Federal Credit Union are eligible for election. Official petitions must be accompanied by a signed statement from the nominee that he or she is agreeable to the nomination and will accept office if elected and should also include a brief statement of qualifications and biographical data. Elected officials are legally responsible for the fiscal integrity of the Credit Union and for compliance with State and Federal laws. Official petitions must be filed with the Secretary of the Board of Directors at the Credit Union home office which is located at 2430 Shorecrest, Dallas, Texas 75235, by 4:00 p.m. on October 28, 2019 which is the closing date for receiving nominations by petition. If no official petitions are received by 4:00 p.m. on October 28, 2019, there will be no election by ballot and no nominations from the floor. When only one member is nominated for each position to be filled, each nominee shall be deemed elected by general consent or acclamation. If there is more than one nominee for any position, the election shall be by mail ballot and the Secretary of the Board of Directors shall cause printed ballots to be mailed to members eligible to vote. In such event, the election shall be determined by plurality vote.

WHEN TRAVELING...
Always contact SWACU if you are traveling outside of your normal geographic footprint. Visit swacu.org, under the Manage menu, review the “Fraud Protection” page to ensure you are not traveling to a country where your cards will be blocked. This would also include your home and mobile banking login. This is done to protect you and your money.

Make purchases with trusted merchants. Saving your credit and debit card information on a merchant website can increase your chances of fraud. Don’t click on untrusted pop-ups.
IN-PERSON SHOPPING...
Don’t let merchants (not including restaurants) take your debit or credit card out of your sight. Cover the keypad when entering your PIN. Be mindful of those around you.

Always remember, know exactly who you are speaking with on the phone or through email. If you suspect you are being scammed, do not give out any information. If you have been called and are being asked for personal/confidential information from a company you have a relationship with, inform them that you will call them back. Locate the number from their official website and call that number, not one provided to you by the person on the phone.
