Historical Town Center Renovation Location: Shuncheng District, Xi'an City, Shanxi Province, China Size: 1,35km Time: 2019 Project Type: Urban and Architecture Design Project, Academic work Alley is the most common social space in China, where the residents can buy and sell goods, exchange information, socialize and conduct other activities. While alley hardly satisfy the social need in current society. The project is to reform a historic district, which is organically consisted of alleys and many underutilized space. and the new design will upgrade the street space and recreate public buildings, linking the alley area and internal building area to create a more openfeeling and flexible social space.

Neighbourhood Community Hub Design Location: Burwood, Sydney NSW 2134, Australia Size: 44,820 m2 Time: 2020 Project Type: Urban Design, Academic Work It is a small-scale urban block renovation project aiming to revitalize the town centre and provide the local community with more diverse social activities. Multiple green spaces featuring different characteristics are created and integrated to Burwood train station and surrounding destination via flexible pedestrian pathways.

USYD Westmead Campus Design Location: Westmead, Sydney NSW 2000, Australia Size: 268,000 m2 Time: 2021 Project Type: Urban Design Project, Academic Work The project is a proposed campus of the University of Sydney in the Westmead. The site has been designed to create an inclusive and vibrant learning environment, ultilizing the proposed light rail to provide convenience and recreation for the surrounding residents, campus students and surrounding health care workers.

Meanwhile, the environment is protected and interpreted with the historic foundation of North Parramatta, bringing the history back to life.

Pingyang City Natural Park Location: Pingyang County, Zhejiang Province, China Size: 198,750 m2 Time: 2019 Project Type: Landscape Design Design, Professional Project The project locates on Pingyang, which is a is a county in the prefecture-level city of Wenzhou, located along the southern coast of Zhejiang province, China.

The site sits 2km south to Pingyang CBD, and surrounded by local towns and large area. This project aims to renovate the abused agriculture land and borrow the surrounding natural environment to create an urban park for local community, and it will also promote ecological sustainability in a longer term.

The Zhu's Family Garden Location: Taizhou, Jiangsu Province, China Time: 2019 Project Type: Architecture and Landscape Design The Zhu Family Garden is a private garden design featuring traditional Chinese gardens, encompassing both architectural design and landscape design.The architectural design refers to the local heritage in Jiangsu Province, including the low rise construction and ark grey tile roof. Meanwhile, the landscape is created with respect for the local climate and traditions, using water features as clues to connect the different landscape nodes.

GIS-Based Network Analysis on cycling network Embracing Bike Share Scheme in Greater Metropolitan Sydney Project Type: Urban Design Project, Academic Work Time: 2021 Location: Greater Metropolitian Sydney This report aims to study how the cycling infrastructure in Sydney can be upgraded to provide a more friendly environment for the continuous development of the Bike Share Scheme in the future.In this report, street factors are analyzed at metropolitan scale, city scale and neighbourhood scale to explore the spatial configuration of cycleways in Greater Metropolitan Sydney.

The four research objectives of this report are reached through multiple-scale studies, and critical findings of Sydney are derived as: • The bicycle network is not disconnected as a comprehensive network in Greater Metropolitan Sydney • Inadequate facilities around stations providing a mode shift from public transportation to cycling • Street patterns vary significantly from area to area, and there are more residents using bicycles in areas with higher permeability of stree network • The current facilities are mainly built on main roads, and appropriate facilities are short on some secondary roads that could be used by bicycle.

Metropolian scale: The current cycling network and hypothetical speculation Sydney is in short of cycling infrastructure, and those infrastructures are disconnected to create a secure, continuous network for Greater Metropolitan Sydney. Cycling facilities in Sydney are mainly located in City and Inner South area and the surroundings.

There are also limited facilities around Parramatta. There are many gaps between those central cities, and gaps in the network undermine the attractiveness of the whole route to potential cyclists.

Metropolitan Area

There are three long north-south and east-west cycling corridors connecting the central areas and western regions.

These lanes are located on the same as postulated and could theoretically provide long-distance cross-city access.

However, these long-distance bike lanes share lanes with cars, making the lanes unsafe. Therefore, cyclists are severely discouraged from riding bicycles along the city-across cycling lanes.

This section of study is conducted on city scale abd outcome is mapped via overlapping the transit catchment (radii = 3km) with the cycling network to investigate the integration of cycling and transit system. The outcome illustrates the geographical relationship between cycling infrastructures and transit stations. It can be presumed that the more facilities are involved within the catchment, the better the integration of cycling to the transit system, which provides convenient access for BSS. The cycling network in Sydney is relatively scattered and fragmented. In City and Inner Sydney area, there is denser public transport service with a concentration of transit stations. There is more concentration of bicycle lanes on those areas with denser public transit service, which are likely to be urbanized areas. As the city gradually sprawl towards the west, south and northwest, the stations turn dispersed. There is few geographical relationship between these bicycle lanes and transit stations, and the bicycle network does not develop along with the expansion of the railway, rather congregating in areas around train stations.

Both Copenhagen and Shanghai have dense bicycle networks within their catchment.Unlike Copenhagen having a city-wide bicycle network, either Shanghai developing BSS-promoting cycling infrastructure around metro stations, Sydney has a week integration of cycling and transit network across the metropolitan area. The distribution of facilities throughout Metropolitan varies significantly. The Inner-city area is relatively connected to the train stations, while in the remote areas, especially the south and southwest areas, facilities are in short around the train stations.

Ingetration measurement of street network in City and Inner South area

Parramatta

A friendly neighbourhood will encourage more residents to ride, encouraging more bike-sharing in the future. According to ABS Data 2016, the percentage of residents using bicycles varies significantly by locations in Sydney.

The hypothesis cycling preference is consistent with the fact that more residents cycle to work and study in City and Inner South than Parramatta. It is speculative that the higher the permeability of the neighbourhood street network, the more cycling will be chosen as the primary travelling method.

The studies at the neighbourhood scale prove that the permeability of street patterns varies greatly and the local cycling infrastructures distributed unevenly in different neighbourhoods. Comparing the streets in the City and Inner South area with those in Parramatta, it can be assumed that the street network with great permeability is more conducive to BSS development. At the same time, the study of existing facilities in both areas shows that most of the existing infrastructures are on the main streets or around particular areas with high cycling demand, such as parks.
