Upper School Review

BY STEPHANIE WEHRER

Mrs. Vego’s Tennessee History class just completed research projects over important figures in the history of our state. Earlier this week, they brought the completed projects in to share and present. Great work, students, and Mrs. Vego!

Mrs Maddux’s middle school math classes played a little integer bingo this week. Such a fun way to learn math concepts, and also have a little fun at the same time!

Students in Mrs. Maxwell’s Painting class decided to create a piece together where each student used a different paint color, a different sized brush, and used different brush strokes. What an interesting concept, and I cannot wait to see how it turns out! We have so many creative and talented students within our school!

Coach Dean’s 8th grade Physical Science classes just completed a unit on heat and energy. Earlier this week they did a project where they made an insulated container. They heated up water to pour into their containers, and then took temperature measurements every ten minutes for a half hour Then, students compared results to determine which container retained the most heat. This made my former science teacher heart very happy to hear about!

I also visited Mrs. Gezley’s 7th grade science class this week, and had the chance to see some of her students presenting projects over different Biomes. I was so impressed with the presentation skills, and the work prepared with their slides. Some of the students included embedded videos in addition to their text research and photos. They did a really good job, and I am so proud of them.
