MISSION The Southern University System Foundation is a private, nonprofit corporation established to secure financial support for each of the five campuses of the Southern University System. The Foundation is a voluntary institute of business and professional leaders, proudly incorporated to provide broader educational services to our students, encourage research among our faculty, and advance the university's role in helping to build an increasingly functional Louisiana.
THE CAMPAIGN The Million Dollar March is a viral and direct mail fundraising campaign that endeavors to encourage alumni and friends to join together and secure philanthropic contributions for the campuses and departments of the Southern University A&M College System.
MDM HISTORY Southern University System Foundation board member, James E. Brown, Sr. came up with the concept of the Million Dollar March. A concept that was developed in a Houston coffee house is now in its tenth year. The Million Dollar March has engaged hundreds of alumni worldwide and raised more than $12.5 million dollars in 2021, alone.

As an MDM Captain, you are integral to the advancement of the mission and objectives of Southern University Give Day and the Million Dollar March. You will find in this guide helpful information regarding expectations, benefits and materials for your use. What is a Southern University Give Day MDM Captain? ● MDM Captains are members of the Jaguar Nation who lend enthusiastic support to Give Day and help strengthen our University System and programs. ● Alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, friends, and fans of Southern University can sign up. ● MDM Captains promote Giving Day through social media posts, emails, phone calls, texts, and word of mouth.
What does it mean to be a SU GIVE DAY MDM Captain? By registering to be a Southern University Give Day MDM Captain, you make an investment in your school, college, and university system, and the exceptional programs offered to our students. You'll be able to drive support from your personal networks to areas of greatest importance to you. Your goal and objective is promote Southern University on and before SU Give Day. The mission is to utilize to your social media network to raise funds from donors and to bring awareness and increase knowledge regarding the Southern University.
What do I have to do? ● Make your personal contribution to the 2022 MDM Campaign ● Download your Give Day social media toolkit and start sharing with the hashtag #WeAreSouthern & #SUGiveDay ● Encourage your friends to become a Southern University Give Day MDM Captain On August 31st, take the day off, join in the fun.
