- O Circo está de portas abertas para fazermos o festival lá.

- Então vamos fazer! É assim que está surgindo este festival. Entre tantas atividades de tanta gente envolvida por enquanto neste projeto, 3 ou 4 conseguiram inicialmente encaixar uma pecinha cada num tabuleiro de intenções e deu-se um start: Maria Juçá e a equipe do Circo Voador; o produtor e baterista Pedro Garcia; e eu.

Havia muita coisa contra. Nem tudo negativamente.

Agendas, por exemplo. Dentre as bandas que queriam participar na 1ª edição, a maioria estava ou esteve recentemente em estúdio ou tinha shows marcados.

O Rock in Rio. A agenda do próprio Circo Voador. E grana, obviamente.

E algum fôlego. O Festival Santa Música produzido e coordenado por um grupo de voluntários para acontecer no bairro de Santa Teresa ao ar livre, e que envolveu vários de nós, havia sido recentemente embargado pelo MP do Rio de Janeiro.

- The Circo Voador is open now for our festival project.

- So, here we go!

It’s like this: now is borning a new rock festival in Rio. In the middle of so much activities of so much people that is envolved in this project, 3 or maybe 4 themselves are achieves to fit one piece each on the table and it’s began. Maria Juçá and Circo Voador’s staff; the producer and drummer Pedro Garcia; and me.

There were some problems against us. Not always negativeness.

Agendas, for example. The most of us is recording or making others concerts when the theme is “when”.

The Rock In Rio. The agenda of the own Circo Voador. And money, off course.

And some breath. The Fête de la Musique that was produced and coordinated by a volunteer’s group to happen in the streets from Santa Teresa Hill - a event that we were working -, has being canceled for some troubles with the resident’s association.

Tínhamos as bandas para formarmos uma equipe de co-produção - ou pelo menos 2 ou 3 integrantes de cada uma e que também produzem e dinamizam eventos.

Um mês depois: zero.

Não conseguimos patrocínios diretos para o festival nos primeiros contactos.

- O Circo Voador está para completar 30 anos -, suspirou ela.

Guerra tá em paz no Dorgas.

Não pára quieto, de fato. Não pára nas experimentações vocais, nas guitarradas ou nos improvisos nos teclados.

Entertainer.

A bipolaridade da banda encontra neste Gabriel a sua equidistância: o humor inabalável e a abissalidade sentimental.

E ele no meio.

Guerra is in a peaceful state of mind in Dorgas.

He’s never stay quiet on the stage. He’s never stop the vocal experiments, the interventions with your electric guitar and the freestyle on the keyboards.

Entertainer.

The bipolarity of Dorgas is condensed in this Gabriel, and he‘s personifying your equidistance: the untouchable humor and the abyssal sentimentally.

And he is in the middle of it all.

“Meu cachorro está morrendo e eu estou triste com isso”.

Com isso e talvez com mais algumas coisas.

Tem motivos. E os reflete nas linhas de baixo e nos vocais que cria e interpreta nas canções do Dorgas.

Cassius transparece emotivo numa banda emotiva. Transparece dançante também.

Existe groove entre o lado de baixo do Equador e o Ártico?

Existe.

“My dog is dying now and I’m so sad about it”.

About it and about somethings more too.

Cassius gives rise to this feeling. And he’s reflecting it in your basslines and vocals when is playing and singing the Dorgas songs.

Parece condição dos cariocas. E é. De que o Rio continue a ser aquela cidade festeira que os visitantes tanto buscam e os locais adoram confirmar.

E rock é festa, combinado?

Há muito que festas periódicas e assinadas por produtores e djs compõem o roteiro cultural alternativo do Rio, desde as “de verão” - que surgem num hype instantâneo, viram lenda e desaparecem -; as que vão agregando cada vez mais habitués e triunfam conseguir seu espaço na agenda noturna; ou as que não são nem tão fulgaz nem se tornaram uma balada concorridíssima, mas que vão muito bem - obrigado -, em pequenos clubes.

Alguém lembrou da Loud!, do dj Edinho ou da Kitschnet!?

No festival CARIROCKA a festa continua. Continua não (uma vírgula) é festa: nesta 1ª edição, os djs da CHOCOLAT, CANDY, COLLEGE ROCK PARTY, ¡VIVA LA MUERTE! e GOO vão tomar conta das caixas de som e da pista do Circo Voador a seguir aos shows e dar mais motivos para vermos o dia 5 de Novembro nascer feliz.

It’s look like a condition for the people from Rio. Yeah, it is a condition: the cariocas wants that your city to be just the same like a city of celebration, for us and our visitors.

And rock is celebration, alright?

For a long time the producers and djs from Rio got them the periodics rock parties to integrated the night city’s guides. From the instantaneous and hyped summer parties; the parties that were increasing your customers and prominence; to the club parties.

Do you remember the Loud! party, dj Edinho or the Kitschnet club?

And in the CARIROCKA festival the parties most go on! At the first edition, the djs from CHOCOLAT, CANDY, COLLEGE ROCK PARTY, ¡VIVA LA MUERTE! and GOO will command the pick-ups and the dance-floor of the Circo Voador after the live concerts and just play more rock n’roll for you.

One more reason for us just come out to the Circo Voador in the dawn.

Vinha chegando o verão de 1982 no Rio de Janeiro.

40ºC. -4º nos freezers dos botecos mais caprichosos com a clientela. Praias. Futebol em alta. Umas conversas diferentes tipo “zen-surfismo”, camisa de vênus, camisa de Bali, estar “ligeiramente grávida”, ser um “maior abandonado” desnudavam o imaginário dos cariocas.

“Alô polícia”?

Nem Bahia nem Brasília. A sina do Rio se reinventar recumpria-se: um produtor de nome Perfeito Fortuna agitava uma lona para fincar na Praia do Arpoador no ápice da temporada de maior temperatura da cidade e fazer shows de bandas de rock.

Maluco... beleza.

Findo o verão, instalaram-se na Lapa. Barão Vermelho, Blitz, Paralamas do Sucesso, Gang 90 & As Absurdettes, Kid Abelha e os Abóboras Selvagens, Celso Blues Boy. “Rock Voador” no cartaz e na parceria com a rádio Fluminense FM. Um tal de Rock Brasil Anos 80.

E 2012 já é.

The summer of 1982 was coming in Rio de Janeiro.

40ºC. -4º at the freezers of the better botecos. Beaches. The national soccer team was in a good level. Some new chats about new themes like “zen-surfism”, condom, Bali’s shirt, be a “few pregnant” or a “up-18’s abandoned” was undressing our minds.

“Calling the police department: I’m using a Exocet’s lingerie”?

Don’t being Bahia or Brasília. The fate of Rio was looking like a constantly reinventation and it’s happened again in 1982: a producer called Perfeito Fortuna was finding a circus canvas to drive it in Arpoador Beach - during the more hot time of the brazilian summer - to realize and promote rock concerts.

It’s crazy... but ok.

Ending the summer, the “circus” goes to Lapa. Barão Vermelho, Blitz, Paralamas do Sucesso, Gang 90 & As Absurdettes, Kid Abelha e os Abóboras Selvagens, Celso Blues Boy. “Flyer Rock” was printed on the posters as a result of the partnership with the radio Fluminense FM. The intituled “Rock 80’s” from Brazil was there.

And 2012 is coming up.
