WHY GREEN BUILDING ???
Our planet faces challenges particularly climate change and sustainable economic development. The growth and
development of our communities has a large impact on our natural environment, human health and the economy.
The manufacturing, design, construction, and operation of the buildings in which we live and work are responsible
for the consumption of many of our natural resources.
40% of global energy consumption is building related;
50% of global greenhouse gas emissions are due to buildings;
50% of material resources taken from nature are building related; and
Over 50% of national waste production comes from the building sector.
