WEDDINGS

YOU’RE IN LOVE.

Maybe you can’t verbalize exactly what makes the two of you so special, but I promise it shows a lot clearer than you think. When you’re given time and space to be natural, your images will show emotion so real you can feel it...

because you never want to foget how you felt on your wedding day.

You need a fine art wedding photographer who will keep things simple. Someone who captures the distinctive moments as well as the hidden, intimate moments. You need images that will outlast the cake, the dress, and the flowers; imagery that will be adored for years to come.

SOULFUL. ELEGANT. SIMPLISTIC.

While photojournalism is the technique that forms the base layer of documenting a wedding, fine art wedding photographers take an active role in directing, lighting, and composing to make sure each photograph reflects the true beauty of you, your family, your surroundings, and the moments in between.

I’ve always believed in simplicity, truthfulness, and a bit of adventure, and it’s with these things that I visually tell your story. It’s a personal alchemy—equal parts photojournalism, motion, contrast, light, and depth—that creates exquisite images of your celebration of love.

It’s important for you to think of us as friends. I’ll be with you on one of the most important day of your life, not only capturing candid shots and moments of emotions, but also offering my support, trust and a pocket to hold your lipstick and Kleenex. Us being comfortable with each other is key in capturing the kind of images you’ll want to look at over and over again.

I promise you that we’ll work together in planning your wedding day photography; that I’ll be there for the first kiss, dancing barefoot, and uncontrollable laughter; and that after your wedding we’ll plan and design a beautiful fine art wedding album together.

TThere is no other photography format in the world that lasts longer than albums. Any photo that you hang on a wall — whether it be canvases, long-lasting fine art ink jet or traditional prints behind a frame — won’t last as long as prints inside a book.

Print longevity is all about lightfast and prints in books are protected from light. With albums, we are preserving your legacy the safest way possible, in a way that will last hundreds of years.

Kris and Ashley’s wedding album was a culmination of all the wonderful memories of the day presented in a beautiful book that tells the story for a lifetime. Because the wedding album process can be a little challenging for busy couples like the Keca’s, we provide full album services from image selection to design to cover selection, and more. Choosing from our main album line of gorgeous leather bound books constructed from only the best quality materials and workmanship, we fashioned a professionally designed keepsake complete with a protective box for decades of enjoyment. And since our premium line is also guaranteed for life against wear and tear, Kris and Ashley never have to worry about their precious memories falling into disrepair.

PARENT ALBUMS

Albums aren’t just for couples anymore. Parent albums are the perfect gifts to present to the parents of the couple after the wedding. Each parent album can be a clone of the bride and groom’s book or customdesigned to your liking. All cover and design options we offer for bride and groom books are also available for parent albums.

DESIGN SERVICES

Never worry about design; Susanna Tanner Photography includes full design services for each album purchased. I will meet with you after the wedding to discuss your favorite images and plan your special album.

COVER OPTIONS

Albums come in a variety of colors to perfectly match your wedding’s theme. You can choose from a photo cover, linen, or leather.

What is your turnaround time?

My personal turnaround time is 3 weeks, depending on the season. My goal is to deliver your high quality images in a timely fashion so you can enjoy your photos while the memories are fresh.

How much do you edit the photos?

My editing technique is minimal, because my goal is always to capture natural beauty in the best lightin camera. I do consider it part of my workflow to color-correct each image and make sure it reflects the mood and style of your wedding. I also take the time to remove blemishes and bags under the eyes if necessarily.

Do you travel?

I love to travel. Contact me with the details of your wedding for a custom quote.

Travel 25 miles outside the Richmond area is $75.00 per trip on average. More may be applicable depending on the distance. If overnight accommodations are needed, a custom quote will be provided.

Why should we do a first look?

The first look allows you to relax and spend more time with your fiance by taking as many images as possible BEFORE the wedding. You’ll be able to attend your own cocktail party, mingle with guests, and relax.

The first look is also a time for you to see each other privately without the pressures of a crowd, Don’t worry, we’ll make it a special occassion all of it’s own. I have an entire blog post dedicated to things to consider when it comes to first looks at susannatanner.com/the-beauty-of-first-look.

When and how do we book you?

Most brides contact me 6-12 months before their wedding date to assure availability. This usually happens after the venue has been booked. Once we’ve had a chance to meet and talk over details, you can book me by filling out a contract and paying a retainer fee of 30% of your collection total.

The remainder of the balance is due one week prior to the wedding date. Retainers and remainders can be paid by cash, credit, or check made out to Susanna Tanner Photography.

Do I own the copyright to my images?

You have unlimited usage when you receive the digital files. I retain all copyright.

Do you take credit cards?

I certainly do. I consider your wedding photography an investment and will try to work with you on the best payment options.

Do you have back up gear and insurance?

Yes and yes

YOUR WEDDING DAY

PRINTS AND ALBUMS

This is the time to order your keepsake items, art for your home, and more.

I WISH ALL CLIENTS KNEW...

DETAILS MATTER.

The details of your wedding (invitations, dress, shoes, jewelry, florals, etc...) are what make your wedding unique and different. They are also the things you spend hours and hours working on, deciding on, and paying for. Make sure they are easily accessible and ready to be photographed on your wedding day.

HAVE YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER EAT WHEN YOU DO.

No one enjoys haven’t their photo taken while they are eating, so by having your photographer eat at the same time you do, nothing will be rushed or missed.

PINTEREST IS GREAT. BUT...

Everyone loves Pinterest, me included, but keep in mind that Pinterest is a collection of the best images out there. It’s not a whole wedding day collection. Go ahead and get inspired, find ideas! But I urge you to break away from copying ideas and instead make your own come to life.

WHAT TAKES SO LONG?

I understand everyone wants to see their wedding images as soon as possible, but please realize a lot of work goes into your images after your wedding day. Every photo taken at your wedding is sifted through, and if kept, is edited to make sure the exposure and coloring is correct. Once that is finished some light retouching is done.

SHOT LISTS

Shot lists may be in magazines to help you get an idea of what not to miss, but hiring a prhotographer you trust and love their work can make all the difference, Instead of trying to dictate photos that you’ve seen before, give your photographer the creative license to capture your day as it deserves to be documented.

LIGHT MATTERS

The most important component of photography is light. It can make the difference between fresh, gorgeous images and dull, dark images. When planning your wedding, consider time of day and light. The more natural light, the better!

COMMUNICATE

Don’t expect your photographer to know your guests, who is most important to you, or details that are significant. Tell them about the little DIY projects, sentimental items and special people so nothing and no one is left out of your photos.

WORDS OF WISDOM

It comes up regularly in wedding publications, and I even hear it personally: The number one regret brides have looking back at their wedding is underestimating the importance of photography. This ends in not choosing the photographer you really want. And it nearly always comes down to dollars. Heck, you probably checked out our prices before even reading this entire guide. But how much are your memories worth? After the wedding day, you’ve got what’s in your head, and what’s in an album. And maybe a piece of cake stuck in the back of your freezer — but that’s it.

Photography is an art form and therefore not wellsuited for shopping by price. Photography is personal and I ask that you choose your artist based on their talent, creativity, and personal rapport with you. With that said, I ask you to consider the following:

I’m here to be a part of your memories, and spin a vision and creativity to best reflect what’s in your heart. Even if I’m not your final choice for whatever reason, please make sure whoever you choose as your photographer is someone that you can connect with; someone you can be yourself with; someone whose images you connect with.

“YOUR STUDIO TOOK THE MOST MEANINGFUL PICTURES I COULD HAVE EVER HOPED FOR, INCLUDING THE MOMENT WHEN MY BROTHER WIPED A TEAR FROM HIS EYE WHILE BJ AND I EXCHANGED RINGS.”

I do hope you’ve browsed the pages of this guide and fallen in love with that you see. That’s what matters most. I don’t downplay the importance of your budget, but urge you to talk with me before ruling anything out. If you love what I do, I will love you back, and I’ll always see what I can do to start a beautiful new relationship.

The biggest day of your life is coming up soon, and I wouldn’t miss it for the world.
