Why We Give
The Vaughan Family
When Jon and Molly Vaughan’s son Nate was struggling in the 1st grade, they were at a loss as to how to help him. After receiving a diagnosis of dyslexia, they tried Orton Gillingham tutoring, but it became clear that Nate was in need of a fully immersive program in order for him to be remediated.
“Finding GRACEPOINT was an answer to prayer. God made it abundantly clear to us that this was the place for Nate. I often describe GRACEPOINT as a conduit between being lost in the desert and arriving at the Promised Land. GRACEPOINT beautifully integrates a teaching approach that is tailored for the dyslexic brain with scripture and biblical wisdom in the classroom.”
The caring teachers at GRACEPOINT made a significant difference in Nate’s educational journey. So much so, that when Nate’s younger sister Hollis was also diagnosed with dyslexia, they knew exactly where she needed to be.
“We are so grateful for the help GRACEPOINT has given our family. Nate and Hollis would not be where they are without GRACEPOINT. We support GRACEPOINT by giving to their capital campaign, annual fund and tuition assistance program because we want to ensure that other families facing similar challenges have access to the specialized education their children need.”
The Vaughan’s generosity and commitment to paying it forward exemplifies the spirit of community and compassion, showing that even when their own children may no longer attend GRACEPOINT, they remain dedicated to supporting its mission and helping other families in need.
Nate is now a middle schooler at Mt. Paran Christian School and is thriving. He was inducted into the National Junior Honor Society and excited to enter high school.
Hollis is continuing her journey at GRACEPOINT, finishing her scope and sequence this year. She will transition to Mt. Paran Christian School next year, prepared to take on the rigors of middle school because of the great training and education she has received at GRACEPOINT.
“Don’t store up treasures here on earth, where moths eat them and rust destroys them, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal. Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be."
