CHRISTINA BUIE

LAVON TURNER
S:US Employee & Treatment and Recovery Services Graduate
Christina Buie is an Urban Farmer with S:US and a proud member of the Brooklyn Clubhouse—a supportive community that empowers individuals living with mental health and substance use challenges through meaningful work, shared responsibility, and genuine connection. Christina has overcome significant personal challenges and once struggled to feel safe and grounded. During a difficult time, she discovered the Clubhouse, where she found support, healing, and a sense of belonging. There, she was connected to S:US Urban Farms, where she discovered her love for plants and the peace that comes from working with nature. Today, Christina is thriving—happy, healthy, and actively involved in her community each day.
THANK YOU TO OUR EVENT SPONSOR
Lavon Turner, a Brooklyn native and one of five siblings, has faced significant adversity throughout his life. In 2014, he lost his youngest brother to gun violence, and dealt with his mother’s struggles with addiction amid the crack epidemic. Lavon began experimenting with drugs at the age of 12, a pattern that continued into adulthood and led to repeated incarcerations and unsuccessful treatment attempts. Eventually, he reached a turning point and knew it was time for lasting change. That’s when he was introduced to S:US and a program designed to support individuals through trauma recovery, sobriety, vocational training, and stable housing. Today, Lavon is a college graduate and a proud full-time employee at S:US.
