EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE IPHONE 14

Billed by Apple as, ‘A magical new way to interact with iPhone. A vital new safety feature designed to save lives. An innovative 48MP camera for mind-blowing detail. All powered by the ultimate smartphone chip.’

But is it as good as the US tech giant is making out? Well delving deeper into the new device does make it seem so...

LIVE SAVING DEVICE, URM YES!

When your iPhone 14 (all models iPhone 14, Plus, Pro & Pro Max) detects a severe car crash of 256G’s, it will display an alert that automatically initiates an emergency phone call after 20 seconds unless you cancel. If you are unresponsive, your iPhone will play an audio message for emergency services, which informs them that you’ve been in a severe crash and gives them your precise latitudinal and longitudinal coordinates with an approximate search radius.

“The entire iPhone 14 line-up introduces groundbreaking safety capabilities that can provide emergency assistance when it matters most. With a new dual-core accelerometer capable of detecting G-force measurements of up to 256Gs and a new high dynamic range gyroscope, Crash Detection on iPhone can now detect a severe car crash and automatically dial emergency services when a user is unconscious or unable to reach their iPhone,” Apple said. The device also automatically notifies your phone’s emergency contacts if you are involved in a crash so family and friends are aware. This new feature of the iPhone 14 could well save lives.

NEW & IMPROVED CAMERA

Apple has bumped the main camera up from 12MP to a whopping innovative 48MP for amazingly detailed photos. Video fans out there will be wowed by the new and improved quality and editing capabilities.

Also, the iPhone 14 Pro also comes with a much thicker camera bump, and that’s due to the bigger sensors and lenses that Apple has packed into the device. But if you prefer to use a naked device (sans case!) and set your phone down, the unevenness may be more noticeable. But if you use a case, depending on the one that you choose, it may be less noticeable as some provide thicker cut-outs to make it as flush as possible.

QUICKER PROCESSING & AESTHETICS

Apple's brand new A16 Bionic chip for faster processing power, replaces the iPhone 13 notch with the all-new Dynamic Island that uses all of your available screen real estate. It also has an Always-On display.

The iPhone 14 Pro looks the same as the iPhone 13 Pro with the same stainless steel flat edges that have been present since the iPhone 12, a frosted matte glass back, and the ceramic shield that makes the front glass more drop resistant and resilient to scratches.

The all-new Deep Purple is a beautiful addition to this year’s mainstay colours of Space Black, Gold and Silver.

Prices start from £1099.
