October Message from the Town Manager
Neighbors helping neighbors. This was the underlying theme last month when so many of our residents and staff members joined efforts by donating essential supplies to the Town-coordinated disaster relief initiative in aid of our neighbors in the Bahamas. Thanks to your generosity, the Surfside Police, Public Works and Parks and Recreation Departments delivered multiple truck loads of supplies to be transported to areas impacted by Hurricane Dorian - once again proving the warmth and compassion of our community (see more on page 5). October 1 marks the beginning of the 2020 Fiscal Year. The Town Commission and staff worked diligently over several months to craft the FY 2020 budget, continuously striving to provide the Community with the very best in services and safety. See page 6 for budget highlights. The deadline for candidates to qualify for Town election will take place in November. Please find qualifications and other important information regarding the 2020 Town election on page 3. With fall in full swing, residents are invited to join family-friendly festivities around Town, including the Parks and Recreation’s annual Halloween Spooktacular at the 96th Street Park on Friday, October 25. Enjoy the month! - Guillermo Olmedillo, Town Manager
