November Message from the Town Manager
Election season is upon us. If you are interested in running for the Office of Mayor or Town Commission, then remember to pay attention to the requirements and qualifying dates above to have your name placed on the ballot. The opportunity to be of public service and make a continual positive impact on the community is important. The Surfside Municipal General Election is scheduled for March 17, 2020. Further information can be found in the Election section of the Town website. Another key date is America Recycles Day on November 15, 2019. This year, our Public Works and Parks and Recreation Departments are teaming up to educate both youth from the after school and Teen Scene programs, plus all residents about the importance of recycling. The Town will host a special recycling event with representatives from Miami-Dade County’s Solid Waste Department in the month of December (we will notify residents of the final date). To learn more about the recycling process, as well as what materials can be recycled, refer to the flyers enclosed in this Gazette and found on the Town website. Residents are also invited to take part in a commemorative ceremony on Veterans Day, Monday, November 11 in Veterans Park as we honor the brave men and women who have served our country. This month is also a time to give thanks. I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the residents, Elected Officials and staff who make our community special. - Guillermo Olmedillo, Town Manager
