Town Manager’s Message Voter’s Guide

GAZETTE

The Town has prepared a Voter’s Guide on the seven Charter ballot amendments which will be presented to the electorate as part of the November 4 General Election. The guide will be mailed separately and will arrive at residences the week of October 6. The subject matters of the ballot measures concern the following Charter amendments: Qualifications for Office; Vacancy on Commission; Vacancy in Candidacy; Canvassing Board; Qualifying for Elected Office; Establishing Elected Officials’ Staggered Terms and Increasing Town Commissioners’ Terms from Two Years to Four Years; and Runoff Election.

The Shul Expansion Project A public hearing on the Shul’s expansion plan will be held on Tuesday, October 28 at 7:00 pm in the Town Commission Chambers. The Shul, located at 9540 Collins Avenue, is proposing a 51,850 square foot addition to their existing Place of Public Assembly. The proposed development will consist of a 5,123 square foot social hall/multi-use space to be used for assembly, eight classrooms for a Montessori preschool with up to 225 students, 16 classrooms for youth programs, multipurpose rooms, adult education and seven offices. The Shul submitted its initial site plan application in 2012. The processing of the application included three Development Review Group (DRG) meetings. The members of the DRG include Town Planner, Engineer, Landscape Architect, Survey Professional, Traffic Engineer and Building Official.
