As a student, who is looking to progress in the surface pattern design & textile industry I have decided to make a professional portfolio to showcase my practice.
From September 2021- May 2022 I have explored a range of different practitioners such as William Morris, and contemporary surface pattern designers who are currently still working in professional industries. Throughout my first year I have taken to a range of printmaking methods such as screen-printing, collagraphs, lino printing and etching all of these printing methods are a form of traditional manufacturing. Alongside this, during my journey I have learnt how to use photoshop and illustrator in a more creative way this is due to the fact I have acknowledged a lot of contemporary designs are generated digitally using Adobe illustrator and photoshop. The ultimate purpose of my designs is to be 'exciting' but too also be subtle and relaxing and to present art onto a versatile range of surfaces.
