What Happens In Vegas, Stays In Vegas…Or Does It?

I just landed home after what felt like a month spent in Las Vegas for ConExpo over the course of just 4 days. 16 press conferences, countless hours spent on the show floor, in full Team Canada attire, over 135,000 steps and another gigantic event is in the books. Many thanks to the US (and Canadian) attendees

who shouted me out, highfived me or stopped for a chat. Seems my team Canada jersey sparked a lot of interest, most of it positive. I was also quite prepared to remind my American friends exactly who dominated whom for most of that gold medal game . All kidding aside, I was pleasantly surprised by the number of Canadians down at the show. Dealers, manufacturers, contractors and more. For those who have never attended, I highly recommend the show for 2029. The biggest takeaway from the manufacturer announcements were all the AI advancements. Product specific AI troubleshooting,

AI camera technology that differentiates blind-spot obstacles by shape, and much more. All of this technology being introduced at ConExpo 2026 Las Vegas will most certainly be coming soon to machinery near you. See the rest of our photos on page 28. In other news, for our Ontario and Atlantic Canada readers, be sure to subscribe

– it’s the only way to guarantee all 12 print editions right to your door. We only send select issues out your way, but if you want all 12, please go to www.supplypost.com/ subscribe and we’ll make it happen!

Lastly, please keep your eyes on SupplyPost.com as we’ve got some exciting technology advancements in the works. Our equipment listing pages have undertaken a few upgrades already, and we have plans for some new searching functions that will continue to make our site a desirable place to do business. As always, make sure you tell advertisers you saw their listing on SupplyPost.com. Canadian heavy industry has trusted us for 55 years, and counting. SP

New Holland Adds New D-Series Mini Excavators

New Holland Construction is expanding its D-Series range by adding five new diesel mini excavator models: the E12D, E19D, E30D, E38D, and E60D—all designed in-house.

These join the previously released E42D and E50D models from 2025, creating New Holland Construction’s most extensive mini excavator lineup yet. The new diesel machines will be part of a family that includes two electric options, the E15X and E25X, bringing the total number of D-Series models to nine.

The D-Series expansion spans three machine classes,

allowing customers to choose the right size for their operation while maintaining consistent features across the lineup.

The E12D and E19D fit into the compact class, offering lightweight machines ideal for residential construction, landscaping, rental fleets and light utility work. With retractable tracks and a small footprint, these models excel in confined spaces, such as narrow gates and tight yards.

The E19D adds additional capability, including the option for a heated cab and the hydraulic power needed to operate higher-demand attachments.

In the mid-size class, the E30D and E38D models are a one-size-fits-all machine, perfect for contractors and operators completing a variety of tasks. The 3.5-metricton E38D delivers a balance of power, transportability and

versatility that makes it fit for a wide range of applications, from utility installation and urban construction to roadside work and light demolition. These machines remain easy to transport without requiring a CDL license and are quiet enough for work in populated areas. From the E38D upward, operators gain access to an optional six-way blade, enhancing precision and flexibility on grading and finish work.

serviceability were prioritized throughout the design process. Automotive-style cabs feature intuitive layouts, adjustable controls and the ability to save attachment flow and pressure settings for quick changeovers. For maintenance, all D-Series machines feature tiltable cabs or canopies for easy access to hydraulic components, while larger models include reversible cooling fans and an elec-

fuel pump that simplifies refueling in remote locations.

D-Series Mini Excavators come standard with a sevenyear telematics subscription through myNewHollandConstruction, giving owners and fleet managers the ability to monitor machine performance, location and health at no additional cost at the time of purchase. SP

Rounding out the lineup and the large class option is the E60D. Designed to be a true jobsite workhorse, the E60D is built for heavierduty applications. It offers increased hydraulic performance, premium cab features and the ability to run demanding attachments such as mulchers. Operators benefit from available heat and air conditioning, an air-suspension seat and expanded lighting and visibility features for long days on challenging jobsites.

Across the lineup, these machines come standard with first and second auxiliary hydraulics, pattern changers, rear-view cameras, LED work lights and zero tail swing design, allowing operators to work safely and efficiently in tight spaces. Cab options are available on all models except the E12D, ensuring comfort and protection across most of the range.

The D-Series is also designed to maximize attachment versatility. Machines are compatible with CNHbranded buckets, thumbs and couplers as well as a wide range of industry-standard attachments, including hammers, compaction plates, grapples, augers, mowers and mulchers. Select models offer a dedicated mulcher hydraulic line, delivering uninterrupted, high-flow performance without sacrificing machine functionality.

FLO Components Ltd. Showcases RecondOil Technology

FLO Components Ltd., a leading provider of industrial lubrication and fluid handling solutions based in Mississauga, Ontario, is pleased to announce that the company will be exhibiting the innovative RecondOil oil regeneration technology at the National Heavy Equipment Show (NHES) 2026, taking place April 23–24, 2026 at the International Centre in Mississauga.

Visitors to the show are invited to meet the FLO team at Booth #2016, where they will have the opportunity to learn about RecondOil® technology and how it can help heavy equipment operators extend lubricant life, reduce waste, and support more sustainable maintenance practices. RecondOil® employs

advanced oil filtration processes that continuously remove contaminants and restore oil to near-new condition - offering significant cost savings, extended equipment uptime, and reduced environmental impact compared with conventional oil change approaches.

“RecondOil® is an advanced oil regeneration and maintenance solution from SKF that changes the way industrial lubrication oil is used and managed. Instead of throwing oil away once it gets contaminated, RecondOil® cleans and restores it to near-new condition, keeping it continuously clean and ready to reuse,” commented Mike Deckert, Vice President of FLO Components Ltd. “So, oil shifts

from being a disposable consumable to a circular, more sustainable, long-term asset that keeps your machinery running smoothly.”

“We’re excited to bring RecondOil® technology to NHES 2026,” said FLO’s Marketing Manager, Gabriel Lopez. “This innovative solution supports our commitment to helping customers get the most out of their equipment and run more efficiently. Attendees at Booth 2016 will see firsthand how advanced oil regeneration can improve maintenance strategies while also supporting sustainability goals.”

NHES is one of Canada’s foremost events for heavy equipment professionals, bringing together industry leaders, technology providers, and buyers under one roof. FLO Components Ltd.’s participation underscores its ongoing dedication to introducing cuttingedge solutions that improve operational reliability and deliver real business value for customers across industrial sectors.

Gradall Introduces New XE 4100 Excavator

Gradall Industries has introduced its new XE 4100 model excavator. The new machines that are slightly lighter in weight without sacrificing popular performance capabilities and properly priced and free of tariffs to fit easily into the budgets of states, counties, municipalities and even specialty contractors.

The XE 4100 6 x 4 model was carefully engineered to reduce costs while mirroring the popular productivity and versatility advantages of Gradall’s popular XL 4100 Series I machines. With a similar 27-foot boom reach and 20-foot dig depth, combined with a telescoping boom that fully rotates 220 degrees, the XE 4100 handles precise grading, ditching, excavation, landscaping, veg-

etation control and even demolition of curbs, sidewalks and culverts – all without the need for outriggers. The lowprofile boom also operates efficiently under bridges and trees where conventional excavators won’t fit.

Meanwhile, the XE 4100 incorporates many of the popular features introduced on Gradall Series V models including a Volvo engine, advanced Bosch Rexroth high pressure hydraulics and electric joystick controls using a Gradall, Deere or SAE joystick pattern.

A new remote repositioning system allows the machine to be repositioned from either the carrier or upper cab using an Allison-approved transmission application to ensure smooth, dependable performance and simplified serviceability. From the carrier cab, the excavator has a highway speed capability of 60 mph, allow-

ing it to be driven quickly to jobsites without the need for a lowboy trailer. Or from the upper cab, the carrier can be repositioned on a jobsite or along the length of a ditch at 7 mph.

The XE 4100 excavator weighs 45,900 pounds, about 4,000 pounds less than the XL 4100 Series V machine, largely through a reduction in counterweight size with a 6-inch reduction in tail swing. Still, the geometry of the machine maintains productive boom forces comparable with the XL 4100 Series I machines as well as the excellent balance, stability and roadability Gradall operators expect.

Optional equipment includes an AM/FM radio, work lights and auxiliary hydraulic plumbing. Heat and air conditioning in both cabs remains standard, providing operator comfort no matter the season or jobsite conditions. Standard attachments include a range of buckets as well as a popular tree limb shear and fixed thumb grapple.

Two New Next-Generation Dozers From Komatsu

The D61PXi-25 with IMC 3.0 and the D175AX-10 large production dozer represent the next phase in Komatsu’s crawler dozer lineup.

At Conexpo, Komatsu previewed two next-generation crawler dozers engineered to advance productivity and efficiency in earthmoving applications from site development and road construction to mining. The D61PXi-25 dozer with intelligent machine control (IMC 3.0) and the D175AX-10 large production dozer represent the next phase in Komatsu’s evolution of powertrain performance, operator-centered design and integrated technology.

From precision grading to large-scale earthmoving and haul road maintenance, contractors are navigating tighter margins, skilled labor shortages and increasing pressure to move material efficiently. The D61PXi-25 and D175AX-10 are engineered to address these demands and to

deliver measurable gains in productivity, fuel efficiency and controllability.

D61PXi-25: IMC 3.0 in the midsize class

The D61PXi-25 is a fully redesigned IMC dozer built to deliver force, precision and efficiency in a size class widely in demand throughout North America. Compared to the D61PXi-24, it offers up to 10% greater productivity and up to 10% greater fuel efficiency, along with an 18% increase in blade capacity and up to 20% more steering power.

Key features include:

• IMC 3.0 with new 10-inch intelligent control touchscreen and updated user interface

• Auto steering designed to support consistent operation and reduce operator effort

• IMC operation helps maintain functionality if the GNSS signal is temporarily lost

• Redesigned cab — enhanced visibility, ergonomic joysticks and centralized controls

With an advanced electronically controlled highpressure supply and EGR-less engine design, the D61PXi-25 is engineered to help increase material moved per gallon while supporting precise grading performance. The new cab environment is designed to help operators maintain focus and comfort through long shifts, with enhanced visibility and customizable control settings.

D175AX-10: Nextgeneration performance in the large dozer class

The D175AX-10 represents the first of Komatsu’s next-generation -10 large production dozers. As the successor to the D155AX-8, it introduces a new main frame, track frames, powertrain, cab and blade system — all designed to help deliver high production and control total cost of ownership in demanding applications. Compared to the D155AX-8, the D175AX-10 provides up to:

• 26% more horsepower, with 450 HP (336 kW) • 25% increase in cubic yards of material moved per hour

Continued on page 19

• 35% tighter turning radius

This new dozer also features a new 4-speed automatic transmission and a redesigned semi-U blade designed for enhanced penetration and reduced material resistance. The next-generation cab delivers comfort and efficiency with exceptional ride comfort, KomVision 360° visibility system and user-friendly touchscreen monitor.

The new steering system enables pivot, power and

spin turns without sacrificing blade load, enhancing maneuverability in side-cutting and scraper-push applications.

An eight-roller track frame and updated undercarriage configurations are engineered to deliver durability and ride quality in heavy production environments.

The D175AX-10 also features Komatsu’s newest off-road engine, the DBA127 EGR-less engine. This engine helps produce more power for stronger penetration and is designed to lower TCO by being more fuel-efficient and extending service intervals (reducing downtime).

“The contractors and mining operations we work with are asking for measurable performance gains without sacrificing operator comfort or long-term durability,” said Paul Moore, Vice President for Products, Marketing and Service. “With the D61PXi-25 and the D175AX-10, we focused on integrating higher output, more efficient powertrains and advanced control systems that help move more material per pass while supporting operators in the cab.”

Both models are designed to integrate with Komatsu’s broader digital and lifecycle support solutions. The D61PXi-25 incorporates IMC 3.0 technology, and both dozers are supported by Smart Construction solutions, Komatsu Care programs, Komatsu Genuine Parts and other service offerings designed to optimize uptime and long-term value. The D175AX-10 is currently targeted for introduction in North America in 2026. The D61PXi-25 is planned for a later launch timeframe. Timing and availability are subject to change and will be fully announced at a later date. SP

Rebar Recovery Using Crusher Buckets

Recovering steel directly on site is the single cycle that compresses time, costs and operational steps.

Demolition sites have a critical point that rarely appears in quotations yet directly affects margins: reinforcing steel, or rather, how it is managed.

For years, reinforced concrete treatment has been based on a fragmented sequence: demolition, transport, crushing and steel separation at external plants. A long, costly and logistically complex timetable that brings extended timeframes, multiple handling stages and

a gradual loss of material value.

When you look at sites where reinforced materials are the norm, this setup directly impacts contract profitability.

A single operation instead of three

MB Crusher proposes a different approach: with a jaw crusher fitted with a 24 V iron separator, demolition materials can be crushed and steel recovered directly on

the spot, reducing numerous stages to just one.

Production wise, there are two distinct streams: reusable clean aggregate and recovered steel which is destined for the recycling chain. This is not about adding another machine, but about eliminating unnecessary and costly steps.

When the single cycle works

In Sweden, one of our clients operating in the demolition sector is processing reinforced concrete using the BF90.3 crusher bucket. The equipment allows material to be crushed directly on the site, while the integrated iron separates the rebar. This way, not only is the material volume reduced, but a reusable quality aggregate is also obtained, turning a problematic material into a tangible resource.

In Arad, western Romania, the demolition of a former industrial mill follows the same logic: none of the present material left the site perimeter. Reinforced concrete was crushed, again using a jaw crusher, separated on site and reused 100%, while the recovered steel became an active balance-sheet item.

Finally, in Alta Savoia, on a residential site with limited space, the single cycle made it possible to avoid transport and intermediate stages. The material crushed

by a BF120.4 crusher bucket, cleared of ferrous components, was immediately reused for preparing new foundations.

Recovering steel to protect margins and timelines

Separating steel at the very moment the material is processed means drastically shortening timeframes while preserving the quality of recycled aggregate. The crushed material remains on site, ready to be reused. Scrap metal, meanwhile, becomes a resource that can be monetized. The advantage is not only environmental, but also operational and economic.

From technical choice to operating standard

In a market where time and margins are increasingly compressed, the difference is not made by those who move more, but by those who eliminate superfluous steps. Recovering steel directly on site is becoming an operating standard for companies that want to maintain control over costs and timing. Today the question is no longer whether to recover scrap metal. The question is: how much does it cost not to. SP

Volvo CE Brings Next-Gen Wheeled Excavators To North America

Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) has added the first wheeled models to its latest excavator series with the North American introduction of the EWR150 and EWR170.

Volvo EWR150 and EWR170 wheeled excavators feature a refreshed design, higher lifting capacity and reduced front swing radius. Improvements include 10% more power for the EWR150 and an industry-first electronically retractable access ladder.

Both models are now available for order in North America.

These medium-sized wheeled excavators offer increased lifting capacity and reach compared to the previous generation models. In addition to each model’s already class-leading short tail swing radius, their front swing radii are now nearly 2 feet shorter, making them even better choices for confined spaces.

“We introduced the original EWR150 and EWR170 in North America in 2018, when wheeled excavators were still relatively new here. Contrac-

tors and government fleets are increasingly realizing the benefits of their mobility and maneuverability, making them leaders in their classes,” said John Waldron, product manager of wheeled excavators at Volvo CE. “I think customers will love the updates we’ve made because they’re even more comfortable, productive and safe than before.”

More reach, power and customization options

Wider lift cylinders give the updated EWR150 and EWR170 more lifting capacity over the front of the machine, while reach is extended by a longer two-piece boom.

The next-gen EWR150 provides nearly 10% more power with its new 154-horsepower engine, equipping it for tough tasks and matching the existing power of the EWR170. This contributes to faster cycle times, increased

digging force and the ability to handle larger attachments. Swing torque is also increased by 10%, enabling more controlled and efficient machine movements.

The EWR150 and EWR170 can be customized with three different arm lengths each, an outrigger or blade added to the front or rear, and an optional 9-footwide axle for additional stability when lifting over the side.

Both are compatible with a wide range of attachments, including buckets and breakers. For hydraulic attachments, the X1 and X3 auxiliary lines are now larger to reduce pressure losses, and flow on the X3 has increased from 18.5 to 31.7 gallons/minute, providing the pressure needed to operate a Steelwrist tiltrotator. A third line (X4) is available as an option.

The EWR150 and EWR170 can travel up to 21.7

mph. Four-wheel steering will be available as an option later in Q1, which is an industry first for this class and dramatically reduces turn radius.

The ultimate operator experience

As part of the latest Volvo excavator series, the EWR150 and EWR170 include fully redesigned cabs for operator comfort and convenience. Highlights include improved visibility, low noise levels, ergonomic controls, more storage options, wireless phone charging, USB connections, automatic in-cab lights and an optional air compressor for cleaning.

A new 12.8-inch touchscreen integrated into the right-hand console presents essential information and offers easy control over camera settings, climate control and more. More seat choices are now available, and redesigned armrests contain fewer switches. The operator’s experience can be further customized with joystick preferences and electronically adjustable heated side mirrors.

An integrated rearview

camera and right-side camera improve visibility, as does the optional Volvo Smart View with a high-definition, 360-degree real-time view of machine surroundings. A range of light options improve visibility in low light conditions, including new LEDs that are seamlessly integrated into the counterweight.

The revamped EWR150 and EWR170 wheeled excavators feature industry-first electronically retractable ladders that swing down from a recess in the side of the machines for safe and easy cab access. With

this patented technology, the machine cannot swing or move while the ladder is down.

Four conveniently located anchor points — two at the front and two at the back — allow the machines to be easily and securely restrained for safe transport. As with all Volvo CE excavators, these updated models are backed by the Volvo Lifetime Frame and Structure Warranty, which covers the frame, boom and arm for the entire initial ownership period. SP

The change reinforces the company’s commitment to regional customer preferences.

“The Ammann America product color change is another step in our evolution in the market,” said Christopher Perkins, Managing Director of Ammann America. “We will continue taking positive steps to strengthen our position as a key player in North America.”

Ammann America, a subsidiary of Ammann, has made significant progress over the past five years – success that it attributes to its loyal cus-

tomers, dealers, and rental partners. The company has invested heavily in its North American operations, including facilities in Orlando, Fla.; Columbia, S.C.; and Florence, Ky. A team of dedicated professionals has also spurred growth.

Rokbak Trucks Cement Trust In Canada

Calgary Rolling Mix Concrete can testify to the power and performance of Rokbak articulated haulers at a high-output pit in Alberta, Canada, thanks to the exceptional design, reliable dealer support and a smart fleet management plan of the RA40 articulated hauler.

Every year, half a million tons of sand and gravel are produced from Calgary Rolling Mix Concrete’s crushing operation in Alberta, Canada, in order to provide high-quality concrete for everything from foundations and walls to driveways, sidewalks, patios and more.

To manage this, Rolling Mix Concrete, which celebrated seven decades of production in 2025, employs a large fleet of heavy equipment, to which three Rokbak RA40 articulated haulers have been added. Headwater Equipment, Rokbak’s trusted Alberta dealer, helped supply the trio of hardworking articulated haulers to the pit in Carseland, a hamlet in the province.

Rolling Mix Concrete’s decision as to what to add

to their fleet to support its operation came down to the key factors of reliability, minimal downtime, fuel efficiency and exceptional aftermarket support.

Why Rokbak?

The RA40 has a haul capacity of 41.9 US tons (38 tonnes) and a heaped capacity of 30.3 yd³. Each hauler has proven its worth across the Carseland Pit, hauling large amounts of material to meet Rolling Mix Concrete’s demanding production numbers with a 66-degree dump angle and dual-slope tail chute that speeds up material ejection.

Two RA40 articulated haulers were delivered to the site in 2023 and immediately put into operation, with a third unit arriving in 2025.

Excavators load overburden into the RA40’s all-welded body to transport sand and gravel across Carseland Pit for production.

The RA40 body is fabricated from high-strength 1,000 MPa (1450,000 lbf/ in²) yield steel. Finished in Rokbak’s signature sandcoloured paint, the haulers have quickly made an impression on site.

“The Rokbak dump truck is ideal for our operations at Carseland Pit,” says Morris Roberts, Rolling Mix Concrete’s service and purchasing manager. “Since the RA40s arrived, operator feedback has been overwhelmingly positive.

“They’ve praised the fuel efficiency, which is saving us money, but also the autolube system, visibility and

cab comfort. We understand a smoother ride translates directly to higher productivity. Combined with the excellent aftersales support we’ve received from Headwater, we can’t recommend Rokbak highly enough, and it’ll certainly be top of the list when it comes to expanding our ADT fleet again.”

Operators themselves

have also taken notice of the difference. “The cab is comfortable and quiet, even on rough ground,” says Renato Angelozzi, an operator at Calgary Rolling Mix Concrete. “The visibility is excellent, and the controls are simple and responsive. You don’t feel worn out at the end of a long shift, which makes a big difference.”

A match made in Motherwell, cemented in Canada

The RA40 is designed and built entirely at a factory in Motherwell, Scotland, and engineered for efficiency and operator comfort. Its fully automatic transmission delivers smooth, responsive

Rolling Mix Concrete driver Renato Angelozzi and Headwater Equipment territory manager Robin Dick.

gear shifts, reducing fuel consumption while maintaining performance in the toughest conditions. Inside the cab, operators benefit from a pressurized environment with a modern HVAC and airflow system, providing superior comfort and control throughout long shifts.

Performance-wise, the RA40 offers excellent traction and an optimized power-to-weight ratio, enabling fast and reliable material movement in all conditions. This functionality ensures maximum productivity at minimal operating cost. Its fuel-efficient drivetrain not only delivers powerful performance but also meets global emission standards, balancing low cost of ownership with reduced environmental impact.

Safety and durability are further enhanced by forcecooled multi-disc brakes, complemented by an electronically activated exhaust brake and a six-stage modulating transmission retarder. This combination extends brake component life while improving overall safety. The integrated auto-lube

system ensures components are greased precisely when needed, minimizing downtime, reducing maintenance risks and keeping the fleet running at peak efficiency.

“The thought behind the design and look behind the truck was apparent from day one but has been shown

low-hour fleet, Rolling Mix Concrete is implementing a rotation program where one RA40 is traded in every three years at around 6,000 hours, with a brand-new truck brought in to replace it.

Crushing it in Calgary

With the addition of the Rokbak haulers, the fleet is running stronger than ever. And while the trucks take care of the hauling, Headwater Equipment is standing behind Calgary Rolling Mix Concrete every step of the way.

over many, many operating hours,” says Morris, who has over four decades of experience in the industry and is tasked with ensuring Calgary Rolling Mix Concrete’s equipment stays productive and reliable. “I know what we need to do to keep Rolling Mix moving, and we’ve been proud to see Rokbak trucks rising to that challenge,” he adds. “Rokbak was ultimately the right choice.”

To maximize uptime and maintain a modern,

Since arriving on site, the three RA40 haulers have already clocked up significant work, a testament to the demanding tasks at Carseland Pit. One truck has logged about 5,000 hours and 45,000 km, another has reached roughly 2,500 hours and more than 20,500 km, and the most recent addition has already accumulated around 300 hours and over 2,000 km in 2025. Each truck typically hauls material on a 0.75–1 km route one way, for an approximately 2 km round trip.

Headwater Equipment takes care of all scheduled

maintenance right at the site, with the Calgary-based team delivering sales, service and parts support just a short drive from the pit. That combination of machine performance and dealer backing is exactly why Rolling Mix Concrete invested in the three Rokbak RA40 ADTs.

“The RA40 trucks have delivered and will continue to deliver, as will our support,” says Robin Dick, territory manager at Headwater Equipment.

“We’re happy to testify to the power and performance of the Rokbak RA40,” adds Morris. “It’s a truck that consistently delivers, whether it’s fuel savings, uptime or operator comfort.

“The RA40 has proven it can handle the toughest conditions without compromise, and that level of reliability directly supports our productivity and bottom line.”

“It’s fantastic to see the RA40 trucks performing so strongly at Carseland Pit,”

says Greg Gerbus, regional sales manager at Rokbak. “We design these haulers to combine strength, efficiency and comfort, and the feedback from Rolling Mix Concrete proves that.

“Our goal is always to provide customers with trucks that deliver longterm value and dependable performance, backed by the support they need from our partners to keep operations running smoothly.” SP

Volvo Unveils The New EC950 High Reach Demolition Excavator

Volvo Construction Equipment is raising the bar in demolition with the launch of the EC950 High Reach - the largest highreach excavator in the Volvo portfolio. It joins the EC400 High Reach, EC500 High Reach and EC750 High Reach machines.

As the industry increasingly shifts toward highreach dismantling for multistory projects, purpose-built excavators offer a safer and more controlled solution.

The EC950 High Reach combines a modular multiconfiguration design with outstanding stability, advanced demolition technology and industry-leading safety features to deliver powerful, reliable and efficient performance on the tallest and tightest jobsites.

“The EC950 High Reach is the latest Special Application Solution from Volvo. It has an operating weight of over 400,000 pounds and maximum height of 161 feet while working

tor of strategic demolition accounts for Volvo Construction Equipment North America. “It combines size, strength and intelligent design to enable customers to achieve outstanding results on the largest and most challenging demolition projects.”

The EC950 High Reach was developed by Volvo engineers in collaboration with Volvo-authorized partners.

All aftermarket parts and the warranty are provided by Volvo CE North America and its local dealer network.

Modular design for ease of transportation

A key concern for customers operating machines at this

sidered every element of the EC950 High Reach’s design — including weight, height and length — to ensure that it remains within standard transportation dimensions. Central to this is the modular multi-configuration boom and arm concept, which allows for simple assembly and disassembly. This is complemented by a series of innovative solutions for easier transportation, including hydraulic removable counterweight, detachable side tracks, modular boom and arm sections and hinged walkways. The modular design of the undercarriage with hook-on track units further reduces the transport weight of the separate parts of the machine.

With a maximum transport height of just 11 ft. 9 in. (3.6 m), hook-on-type modular joints and hydraulic cylinder-type pins, the machine can be quickly configured on-site to suit the specific job requirements at hand.

Not only does this flexible design reduce the cost and complexity of transportation,

contractors to use the same machine across multiple applications with a variety of pin heights and allowed tool weights, helping to minimize initial investment and maximize return.

Unrivaled stability and strength

Volvo offers a machine able to rise to the challenge of the harshest demolition site conditions to deliver safe, reliable and consistent performance.

Built to meet Volvo Ultra High Reach (UHR) stability criteria, the EC950 High Reach delivers exceptional stability even when operating with heavy attachments and extended reach. The durable Volvo undercarriage,

plus a purpose-built upper frame with boom adapter and larger boom and cylinder pins, provides the strength and durability required for high-stress demolition environments. This is combined with a specially developed ring gear able to withstand the enormous forces a machine of this size creates.

Advanced demolition features boost productivity and safety

The EC950 High Reach is equipped with a comprehensive suite of demolitionspecific features designed to improve operator comfort, enhance visibility and increase jobsite safety. A tilting cab with up to 30° of tilt provides excellent upward visibility, while the removable 84,000-lb. (38.1-ton) counterweight and new undercarriage design support safer handling of heavy loads.

Real-time safety monitoring is delivered through the Volvo total moment indicator (TMI), providing operators with continuous feedback to help prevent tipping or overloading and ensuring safer, more efficient demolition operations. Volvo Smart View cameras with optional obstacle detection enhance safety for operators and site teams.

The high-visibility cab is fitted with P5A certified polycarbonate windows and a frame-mounted falling object guard (FOG), helping to protect operators from

falling debris. Additional features like undercover protection, full track guards, a slew ring cover and boom and bucket cylinder protectors further safeguard critical machine components.

CareTrack standard telematics and ActiveCare Direct advanced telematics provide real-time machine health data and predictive maintenance alerts to keep fleets productive and protected.

Industry-leading operator environment

With the EC950 High Reach, Volvo continues its well-established reputation for providing industry-leading operator environments. Inside the spacious, lownoise cab, all machine interfaces — including joysticks, keypad and LCD monitor — are ergonomically positioned for intuitive and efficient operation. Easy cab access is provided via a wide door opening, while hydraulic dampening mounts and sound-absorbing lining reduce shock, vibration and noise levels.

A fully adjustable ergonomic seat with independently moving joystick console allows operators to tailor the cab to their preferred working position, supporting comfort, safety and productivity over long shifts. Whatever the weather, an integrated heating and air conditioning system distributes pressurized, filtered air through multiple vents to maintain a comfortable working environment.

Cleaner, safer worksites with

integrated dust suppression

In response to the increasing scrutiny and regulation demolition operations face around dust creation, the EC950 High Reach comes complete with an integrated dust suppression and cleaning system. Dual water spray nozzles effectively control airborne dust, while a highpressure washer helps keep components clean during operation. The result is a cleaner working environment for those in the cab, on the jobsite and in the local community. The system is also designed to keep key components clean, helping to improve machine longevity and reduce maintenance requirements.

Bored In Baltimore

Each morning, Joe, the terminal manager, and me, his assistant, would both go out on our lot to wake the drivers.

A food wagon came onto the premises each morning, and most of the drivers wanted to be awakened so they could get something to eat for breakfast. Although Joe had knocked several times on the driver’s side door of Willie’s truck, the driver had not responded. Joe pounded loudly on the door for the third time and hollered, “Goddam, Willie, if you can’t hear me, you must be dead!”

After waking the last driver on the back of the lot, I headed back up front when I saw Joe frantically waving to me. Although his hands were wildly pointing at the truck, Joe couldn’t even talk when I reached him, so I climbed-up into the tractor. Separating the privacy curtain, I found that Willie had died. His autopsy found that he had died in his sleep from a heart attack. Poor Joe was terribly ashamed of himself by saying Willie must have been dead if he could not hear him and it took Joe quite a while to get over Willie’s passing.

The previous evening, Willie had joined several other drivers in the drivers’ lounge for a low-stakes poker game. These frequent gatherings provided some entertainment for the fellows who didn’t want to go out on the town. The drivers who had played cards with Willie said that he had his usual $150 to $200 in his pocket. Hoping to return this money to Willie’s family, I contacted the coroner’s office to inquire when I could retrieve

TRUCKS

his belongings. According to the two coroner’s office employees who removed Willie’s body from his truck, the driver’s wallet had various items in it, but no cash was found.

For some strange reason, I never received a reply to the nasty letter I sent to the coroner’s office, and I never could learn the names of those two worthless scoundrels. I’m afraid it was Willie’s bad luck to have died within the Baltimore City limits. I also hope the coroner’s office now employs a better class of workers.

Sorry, Willie. You were one of the really good guys who didn’t deserve to be treated this way.

A week after Willie’s death, we asked a driver to drive Willie’s truck back to our home office, some 300 miles away. Davonne answered, “Oh, hell no! Willie done died in that truck and his ghost might still be in there!” Well, it took an awfully lot of negotiating, including what could have been best described as hazardous duty pay, but Davonne eventually agreed to the assignment. As he left the terminal, his parting words were, “Now I’m gonna do this for y’all, but I ain’t stopping for nothing after I leave here!”

He kept his word, and I’m sure Davonne must have broken every speed limit along the route, because he made the trip in record time.

Upon arrival at the home office, he was observed jumping out of the tractor and literally running away from it.

Mack Trucks Launches New Vocational Models

Mack Trucks has unveiled two all-new vocational trucks and showcasing the next generation of their purpose-built lineup.

ConExpo marked the global debut of two all-new Mack vocational models, which were introduced at an exclusive event ahead of the show’s opening. Engineered for the demands of modern vocational operations, the two new models deliver enhanced performance, advanced connectivity and an elevated operator experience – reflecting Mack’s continued investment in purpose-built solutions for the vocational market. The booth lineup reflected Mack’s broad range of voca-

Davonne later told someone he had pulled the privacy curtain closed, and that he hadn’t even looked back into the bunk during his whole trip. Yep, I chuckle every time I think of Davonne.

As I previously mentioned, many WMTS drivers spent at least one night each week in Baltimore while waiting to load early the next morning. It sometimes happened that a few drivers would have to layover twice in one week. When they laidover, most drivers played cards or watched television, but some drivers enjoyed Baltimore’s night life.

TC was one driver who did not mind staying in Baltimore, which was mostly due to his fondness for a couple of ladies at one of the clubs close to the terminal. (Truth be known, TC probably planned most of his twice-per-week layovers.)

Although I never observed him in his element, I heard that he had a “way with the women,” because evidently, they loved his muscular 6’3”, 220 pounds physique. And yes, I know he was a smooth talker, since he always tried to sweet-talk the dispatchers into giving him better loads than he had been assigned. After he had spent a night out, it wasn’t uncommon to see TC brought to work early the next morning in a car driven by one of his lady friends.

TC was accompanied to the club one evening by a newly hired driver named Henry. Henry was young, and he was completely TC’s opposite, as he only stood 5’5”, weighed about 125 soaking-wet, and he was so naïve that it seemed to drip from him. Poor Henry also had a speech impediment each time he began a sentence. It was something be-

tional solutions engineered for the construction industry’s most demanding applications. In addition to Mack’s new vocational trucks, the display highlighted Mack’s continued commitment to purpose-built performance, durability and customer productivity across a variety of jobsite environments. Each truck is designed to meet the rigorous demands of construction operations, combining Mack’s proven powertrain technology with advanced driver assistance and connectivity features.

tween tsk-tsk and t-t-t. I’ll just call it tk-tk-tk-tk-tk-tk.

Henry evidently liked what he found during his first visit to the club with TC, because he couldn’t wait to go again the following week. The morning after his second visit, he had this great-big, wide grin on his face when he came into the office to get his pick-up slip for his load. I don’t know why none of us asked about his “big time” last evening. Maybe we were too polite? I’m not really sure. Anyway, Henry picked up his load of steel and headed south.

The president of WMTS possessed a mischievous sense of humor. One of his best examples happened the next afternoon, when he informed the home office

The all-new Mack Anthem was on display, equipped with Mack Protect Premier, Mack’s most advanced driver assistance system, which offers active steering capabilities with lane keeping assist, sidecurtain airbags, blind-spot support, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking and more.

Mack also highlighted the Mack Anthem 6x4 Day Cab, Mack MD6 4x2, and Mack TerraPro 8x4. SP

dispatchers that he needed to speak with Henry when he made his “empty” call.

Henry called sometime later and his call was transferred to the president, who became very serious and said, “Henry, some woman called here around lunch today, and she said that she would have called you directly, but she didn’t know how to get in touch with you. She said she was terribly sorry, but she had gone to the doctor today because she hadn’t been feeling very good. The doctor told her she has a fatal disease and that she doesn’t have but about six months to live. Henry, she said she was afraid that she had passed it to on to you. She said there is not a cure at this time, but she wanted you to know

about it because you are such a nice boy. She said she wanted you to know while you still had some time left.” When the officer finished telling Henry about his fatal disease, the president said that Henry did not miss a beat, as he replied, “tk-tktk-tk-tk-tk Well, sir, tk,-tktk-tk-tk-tk, TC gonna die too!” SP

Brigade Demonstrates Latest Vehicle Safety Solutions

Brigade will be demonstrating its cutting-edge range of commercial vehicle safety solutions when it attends the Atlantic Heavy Equipment Show in Moncton, New Brunswick between March 26th – 27th.

The show brings together professionals from the heavy equipment, roadbuilding, forestry, snow and ice clearance and municipality sectors across Atlantic Canada and beyond, to share industry insights, best practices and innovations.

During the show, Brigade will be helping fleet managers navigate appropriate safety solutions to ensure their operators are confident to proceed safely. These include AI HFR cameras, its Backeye 360° AI HFR camera, and Backsense Radar.

Backsense heavy-duty radar proximity sensor systems are designed to detect objects in blind spots, significantly increasing site or on-road safety. They detect stationary and moving objects, providing the driver with in-cab visual and audible warnings.

TRUCKING

Backsense Radar sensors are available in fixed detection range models and fully programmable models allowing custom detection areas and the ability to calibrate-out fixed objects or bodywork.

Brigade’s 360-degree camera features cutting-edge AI-driven human form recognition (HFR), which is capable of identifying humans in vehicle blind spots. The intelligent camera system aids manoeuvrability by providing drivers with a complete 360-degree view of their vehicle in a single image. The system merges images from four cameras positioned around the vehicle and creates a ‘bird’s-eye view’ of the vehicle and its surroundings, delivered to an in-cab monitor.

Manitoulin Transport

Opens New Moncton Terminal

Manitoulin Transport has announced the opening of its new 23,000 square foot terminal in Moncton, New Brunswick.

The new facility strategically located at 200 Babineau Blvd E in Moncton significantly enhances the company’s service capabilities throughout the Maritimes and reinforces its commitment to the region.

The Moncton terminal marks a major milestone in the Atlantic provinces, designed to meet the growing demand for reliable and efficient transportation and logistics solutions. This modern facility with 22 dock doors will serve as a key hub connecting the area with Manitoulin’s extensive national network.

“Moncton is a vital economic gateway for Atlantic Canada and our new terminal is a direct response to the needs of our customers in that region,” says Jeff King, President of Manitoulin Transport. “This expansion will allow us to provide faster transit times, increased direct service points, and improved customer service.”

The Moncton terminal represents the newest strategic expansion in Manitoulin Transport’s ongoing effort to deliver unparalleled direct service nationwide. This initiative further reinforces the company’s long-standing commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction. SP

within a pre-defined zone and reliably inform the driver visually and/or audibly of their presence. Algorithms train the system to recognize human beings and zone out other distractions, reducing false alarms and keeping ground workers in the vicinity safe.

Brigade’s award-winning Backeye 360° has been a bestseller for the company since its launch.

For operators who prioritize safety but are concerned about the cost of adding AI systems to their vehicles, Brigade’s recently launched AI Human Form Recognition Box is the perfect solution, transforming existing vehicle camera systems into intelligent pedestrian detection solutions without the need to replace existing hardware and bridging the gap between traditional

camera technology and AI safety systems.

“By enhancing our cameras with AI technology, we offer operators even greater assurance that they are using the safest solutions available,” stated Warren Di Marco, CEO of Brigade Canada. “Our innovative systems not only keep drivers safe but also provide critical support. We understand

the adverse weather conditions and rough terrain in which vehicles in the heavy equipment sectors operate and our products are built to withstand extreme temperatures and poor visibility.

“We hope to welcome as many people as possible to our stand at the Atlantic Heavy Equipment Show and look forward to demonstrating our state-of-the-art solu-

tions which address the issues of heavy equipment operational safety,” continued Di Marco.

Brigade will be attending Atlantic Heavy Equipment Show at the Moncton Coliseum, 377 Killam Drive, Moncton, NB E1C 3TI, Canada between March 26th and 27th. Find them at Booth 333. SP
