the time has finally come: the second edition of our magazine is ready! SUPPASSION became PUREPASSION for legal reasons, and we think so this name even more appropriate.

We are immersed in the unforgettable sound of the jungle. A sound that will never leave us as nature lovers, adventurers and SUP paddlers. The beauty of the biodiversity, the breathtaking nature, in short: unique experience that we were able to experience there. We let ourselves drift, left the sounds of the city behind us and embarked on a very special journey. Of course with unique paddling tours on the Rio Negro in the Brazilian Amazon region, the largest body of water and the largest contiguous rainforest on our planet.
We learned about the life of the indigos, observed rare animals and enjoyed freshly grilled fish.
A typical Amazon River ship with simply equipped double cabins, dining room, a sundeck and a great crew. That was our home for the time.
On the edge of the Brazilian jungle on the banks of the Rio Negro, small river communities live in harmony with nature in simple conditions.
The magic of these places and the special energy that emanates from them captivates us pulled. The friendly locals are happy about every visitor and are always hospitable.

We were able to experience how the indigenous population lives today according to their customs and traditions in an authentic indigenous village in the Amazon.
We greeted the rising sun while doing yoga on a SUP board with the sound of tropical bird calls. And we connected with the element of water during SUP yoga and trained the deep muscles. Here you find your inner and outer balance.
With our experienced local guide, we explored the rainforest in a very special way. On this excursion through the impassable area, our guide showed us the diversity and sophistication of nature, exciting places and various survival techniques.
We learned about plants that help as a natural mosquito repellent or that are used as a basis for medication. We experienced the harmony between nature and animals and the importance of preserving this Amazon rainforest.
When a paramotor pilot meets a kite surfer and standup paddler and the two travel together, the result is one thing: excess baggage!!! And in order to move around and explore the country, you need a car that is not too small. „Mexico! Wasn‘t that the country where the T2 was still being built until 1995?“ it immediately popped into our heads... and after some searching on the internet we soon found one that made our hearts beat faster. And so our new travel companion T2, known in Mexico only as a station wagon, is simply named after the city where it was purchased: Cancun.
Papers, insurance and a complete overhaul of the vehicle, which when purchased ran through every red light despite braking, were the first actions of the trip, which also improved our Spanish skills at the same time.
And after a week of bureaucracy, the time had come: music on, windows open and off we went! Viva la Mexico with a hippie feeling. Yucatan & Quintana Roo offer the
best introduction to Mexican vanlife for beginners, because you don‘t have to worry about safety, at least in these states. The roads are straight and well developed and there is hardly any traffic outside the cities. German and English driving licenses are valid.
We notice that the Bulli doesn‘t just have a fan base here, because thanks to social media, the Mexican station wagon community has also become aware of us. We get an invitation to the station wagon day in Tuxtla Gutierrez! February is National Kombi Day, a day for fans of the legendary Volkswagen bus.
We go through the city in a convoy with 40 station wagons and we are part of the community thanks to our turquoise-white “Cancun”, built in ’75. Afterwards there will be a celebration with a picnic and live music between the buses.
With “Cancun” we explore 7 states and travel around 15,000 km through Mexico in 3 months. Here we kite, fly and standup paddleboard in the Caribbean, in the mountains of Chiapas, on the beaches of the Pacific in Oaxaca. We end our trip in Veracruz, where “Cancun” begins its journey to Europe separately from us by ship. See you again in Bremerhaven! This is how “Cancun” comes to Germany - because traveling connects people.
Kathrin Borgwardt grew up on the Baltic Sea and discovered her enthusiasm for water sports at the age of 14 on an old windsurfing board. When kitesurfing emerged in 2000, she was living in Egypt as a diving instructor. Here she swapped the surf sail for the kite and from then on commuted between the worlds.
For 10 years, Kathrin Borgwardt actively took part in competitions such as the Kite Tour Asia and the Kite Tour Europe.
She was and is always on the go and her thirst for adventure is far from quenched. True to their motto “At home in the world”.
Packed to the rafters with kites, SUPs, paragliders and paramotors, we often took the VW bus to the most distant destination that could be reached by land: to Tajikistan for the highest kite race in the world. Or from Prerow across Europe, Turkey and Iran to Oman. Or in the classic VW Bulli T2 across Mexico.
She has been running the Darss kite school in Prerow from May to October for 20 years now. The rest of the year the Philippines serves as a base for kiting and standup paddling.

I got into water sports at a surf and yoga camp in Morocco. That‘s when I realized that I really wanted to do something that took place on the water, that I enjoyed and where I had contact with people. Then I looked at what there was in Berlin. That wasn‘t much at the time.
I then came into contact with a stand up paddle manufacturer from Hawaii and that‘s how I entered the SUP world. That‘s where I got to know the first boards. In Hawaii they primarily had hardboards, and they were true works of art. Great designs that I really liked.
When I stood there on the SUP board for the first time, I was so amazed by the unity between body and board that was formed through balance. I was also fascinated by the new perspective with which one perceives and rediscovers the environment and nature. And I thought that something like that could be done wonderfully in Berlin. There is a lot of water here and a lot to see.
So I set up the Stand Up Club Berlin with my business partner. Initially very small, but mainly through word of mouth we have grown steadily with each passing year. Our length on the Spree at the Badeschiff was of course perfect. We were in the middle of Berlin and we had a great team right from the start.
From the beginning I also had the idea of getting into SUP yoga. But there was no such training in Germany at the time. So I went to Bali in 2015, did the SUP yoga training there, and was the first in Berlin to offer SUP yoga.
And that was my destiny. Watching what SUP yoga does for people, how you wind down, how you are in the here and now and have to exert your body in order to be able to let go of your mind. And everything is accompanied by the sounds of nature. Anyone who would like to experience this is very welcome. I look forward to every contact and every visit. Hope to see you. Ciao.

Martin‘s paddling story began by chance in 2012. He had never held a paddle before, but was immediately infected with the SUP virus. Six months later he founded a school, more for fun and to bring people closer to the fascinating connection between exercise and mental relaxation.
Martin is actually an engineer. However, his passion is working with people, so he prefers to use
his analytical skills to improve his customers‘ performance and technology. The growth he ignites in them is his motivation. He now has more than 12 years of experience in the personality development of children and young people, as well as as a trainer in various sports. He focuses on mental strength and the connection between body and mind. He has been training ambitious SUP kids and teenagers in Potsdam since 2018. The Havel Ra-
cers (photo above), as they formed as a permanent team in 2019, have since been able to claim several German championship titles.
More actions than words, that is his maxim. Vitality, energy and awareness are his core values. He does nothing without passion and creativity that always challenges the status quo and always radiates with positive energy.
Martin, known to friends and in the scene as Teichi, has been successfully taking part in SUP races since 2017. 2019 was his most successful SUP year to date. Teichi became overall winner at the Hamburg championship and at the SUP Cup Berlin Brandenburg, vice German champion in the SUP Technical Race Ocean on Fehmarn and achieved an excellent 20th place in the long-distance race at the ICF World Championship in China.
I am very lucky to have a great family and friends who support me in all my projects. I was born in a nice small town in East Germany. My parents and family supported me from an early age in following my dreams. It‘s not always easy being far away from them,
but Switzerland and Fuerteventura are now also places I call home.
I have met great people in the last few years and SUP has changed my entire life. My passion is teaching, coaching and promoting SUP.
In 2019 I became a mother to my daughter Vaimiti and she is definitely the center of my world. Being a mom, an entrepreneur and an athlete isn‘t always easy, but it‘s worth it. It motivates me to train and be the best paddler and person I can be for them too.
In my coaching and training camps I share my experiences with other paddlers. We grow and learn better together.

I‘ve been doing yoga for 20 years, so it was only the logical consequence to move it to the water after I tried it for the first time. Both water and yoga are said to have a certain “healing” potential: a double effect.
For me, this relatively new form of yoga is the best combination of deep muscle and core training, becoming one with nature and finding inner and outer balance. The sore muscles afterwards always tell you that you have done something good for your body.
SUP yoga is easier than you think when you have a SUP yoga teacher who can safely guide you into the yoga poses on the stand up paddle board. My yoga program is tailored precisely to the wobbly yoga board, special SUP asanas let you stay up and keep your balance. Your deep muscles work more effectively than on the floor in an indoor yoga studio. Take your yoga practice to the next level! But you still have to ex-
pect a wet bottom. But that‘s the beauty of outdoor training on the element of water.

A short sequence from a TV advertisement in the late 1980s stuck with me: a young couple sat on the runner of a catamaran and sailed into the sunset. A dream. My dream.
Unfortunately, I didn‘t have access to water sports either in my childhood or in my youth. Something like that wasn‘t really on the agenda for school and recreational sports. Only when the wall came down did I use the new opportunities to catch up on everything and fulfill my dreams.
With the first training salary in 1990 I got a catamaran license. And after a short time I bought windsurfing equipment and was now much more flexible in choosing the area with less material. After successfully completing my studies as a trained designer, I became interested in fluid mechanics and design in shipbuilding. I got this love of water from my grandfather. He was a sailor and told me a lot about the sea and the Masurian lakes.
At the end of the nineties I noticed the first kite surfers. I was thrilled because now the material became even more compact and for me this was the start of a kitesurfing passion that has now lasted more than 20 years.
In 2006 I saw the first pictures of surfers paddling while standing. Stand up paddling was born. I knew immediately that this would be a new trend and a perfect addition for water sports enthusiasts. Surf in the wind and paddle in the calm. Brilliant.
So in 2010 I decided to open the first SUP station on the Elbe. From then on I gave courses and
worked as a tour guide. So you can say that I have accompanied the SUP business in Germany from the beginning and helped shape it to a certain extent.
I quickly made a name for myself as a good salesman and ended up working for many well-known surf brands.
In 2013 I took part in the SUP World Cup in Hamburg and was thrilled to see how big the SUP scene already was. So in 2014 I decided to create my first SUP collection. At that time it consisted of 3 boards and 2 paddles. The demand for my products grew constantly. My goal was - and still is - to make the best inflatable SUP boards. All GTS boards are extensively tested for material and riding characteristics. Only when everything is perfect do I offer them to my customers.
In 2017 I had the idea that SUP also has potential in saving people. I had developed two special boards for the DLRG water rescuers, which have since become the standard in water rescue. The German water rescue service and the Bavarian Red Cross are also among our customers.
I can say with complete confidence that I am happy with what I do. And thanks to my team at GTSports, we will continue to create great and innovative products in this area.
Maybe we‘ll see each other sometime. On the water, in the showroom on Eiswerder Island in Berlin. Or on one of my Amazon tours? I would be happy.
All of our inflatable boards are made in DOUBLE LAYER construction (2 layers of PVC fabric). And since the materials are thermally bonded together, we can completely avoid the use of adhesives in production. Not only is it lighter and more durable, it is also better for our environment.

Our SUP station is ideal for beginners, recreational athletes and families - but we also have the right offer for advanced users. Near the city of Berlin, on the island of Eiswerder, our station is located in the historic walls of an old fireworks and ammunition factory - just a few meters from the banks of the Havel.
