Andreas Christensen’s SuperOne: A Self-Sustaining Platform Revolutionizing Gaming

If you’re the founder of a business, one priority is making money. Another is making the business sustainable. Finding gaps in the market enabling you to supply a product to meet demand is a sure-fire way of being successful in the short term. But it will last a fairly well-defined amount of time. That’s step one. The golden rule to continued success is finding a way to be sustainable — moving away from a total dependency on economic fluctuations, rival competition, and the fickle nature of consumers or users. Need proof of this? Look at Napster as an example. Napster was originally founded in 1999 as a pioneering P2P file-sharing service that allowed users to share digital files, usually, songs encoded in MP3 format, over the internet. It was a ground-breaking service at the time, and at its peak, the Napster service had about 80 million registered users. However, the company soon ran into legal difficulties over copyright infringement and was forced to cease operations before relaunching with a paid subscription model. This enjoyed only modest success: in August 2020, Napster was sold to virtual reality concerts company MelodyVR for $70 million. And what about boo.com? Boo.com was a British company that launched in 1999 and sold branded fashion products over the internet. It went out of business while awash with stories of lavish corporate lifestyles and lack of proper management. Startlingly, its bosses spent $135 million of venture capital in just 18 months and Boo.com was unsurprisingly placed into receivership in May 2000 before being liquidated. The list goes on. Kozmo. Flooz. GeoCities. Broadcast.com. WebVan. Friends Reunited.
