A Letter from the Editor
Ed’s Letter Hi and welcome to Issue 35 of Supernal Magazine. This has been an extraordinary effort, and I realised as I sat at the PC banging out these words that we are closer to reaching issue 50 than I dreamed we would. It’s been such a beautiful ride so far! I was asked the other day why I started Supernal, and what have I got out of three years of working on the mag voluntarily? It was a good question from a fellow journo struggling with the state of media affairs here in Australia.
Anthony Kilner
Without the team of like-minded souls on board to help me, none of this would have happened and honestly, ‘thank you’ is not enough for this team. They are the ones that are opening my mind and teaching me. They are unique souls! We are starting a fundraising program to keep Supernal moving. We have some great advertising packages, and our figures for readership are growing steadily. Will you jump on board? Please share the mag on social with your friends. Donate via the button below, or take out an advertising package that will suit your budget! We are here to spread the word!
My first thought was before the mag, I thought “On the full moon of every May is Buddha’s I knew a bit about journalism and how it works birthday celebrations. It is said that the veils – I’ve been in it for 25 plus years. I also thought between Earth and the spirit realm are thinnest I was pretty worldly on matters of interest and at this time and that Buddha blesses the earth/ spiritualism – I kept up with current affairs and humanity with consciousness - to elevate news, I work in the spiritual field, I’ve even consciousness at this time.” – Freya Sampson. authored two complete books and been a part of three co-authored books. It was to help raise the consciousness around the globe with love and positive intent and to push boundaries of the mind and spirit to the greater good.

For those that follow, practice and teach Buddhism, though, the month of May is special as it is recorded that Wesak or Vesak occurring on the full moon is the celebration of Buddha’s birth, passing and enlightenment!
“We sometimes need reminding that our mums and dads, family and especially those who are foster kids and our pets, family are everything!” Freya Savitri Sampson has penned a great read on this subject, and while it only touches on the basics of Buddhism, it might be enough to get readers looking into it as a philosophy worthy of living! While talking about Ascended Masters creating miracles, ShirleySienna has offered a six page tribute to just a few of the Ascended Masters available to help us mere mortals. I found reading this that my consciousness expanded as I was drawn into their essence. Now I have another journey to delve deeply into these etheric beings. Our continuing journey into understanding reincarnation is covered in Part I of Jane Offer’s personal journey into the world of lives upon lives. Yours truly has put together some information in the form of an interview with ex-Buddhist monk Dr Nick Ribush. His story from dope-smoking, muso doctor to becoming a Buddhist Monk and publisher is fantastic. ShirleySienna and I also interviewed him for Supernal Radio. The way he talks candidly about his journey is nothing short of amazing and had us both enthralled for the length of the interview.
We have some incredible columns this month once again to enjoy. There is some very thought-provoking information to absorb. I also want to acknowledge Hollie Mariconte for supplying Supernal readers with updates on the Northern Rivers Flood Recovery. We interviewed Hollie for an upcoming radio show regarding her role to showcase just what is and isn’t happening in that area of Australia – they are still needing help! Please take a moment to read her story and see the bigger picture. Finally, I want to acknowledge all Mum’s out there and hope you had a great day with your kids, animals and family. We sometimes need reminding that our mums and dads, family and especially those who are foster kids and our pets, family are everything! We hope you all have a Supernal May and through the continuing guidance of Buddha and the Ascended Masters that it continues to open our collective consciousnes’ positively and happily!

Northern Rivers NSW - Recovery By Hollie Mariconte I’ve talked to people to better understand how they feel right now, and many are worried about where they’re going to be next week. Some residents who owned their homes returned to them, regardless of the state in which they remained. They pitched tents in their yards or camped inside their empty, damp homes. With nowhere else to go, this is really their only option. Two months after severe flooding ravaged the towns of Northern Rivers NSW, people are still living in tents, cars, garages and emergency housing. This is the harsh reality of what people are going through and will continue to endure for many months. Perhaps for many years to come! If you’d never been to these towns before and had to drive through them now, you’d probably say: “What floods?” The rubble has been cleared, the houses have been washed down, and some businesses are opening up, however if you look at it more closely, you would realise that the houses are empty, the interiors have been stripped back to framing, there are practically no people and the towns have lost their hustle and bustle. It’s a very sad situation to see when you know what these towns looked like before.

Some people who were tenants received only a three-week stay in emergency housing. If the rental crisis before the floods wasn’t severe enough, it is now. There are simply not enough housing options, and the possibilities that arise are far from an affordable price range, with some rentals charging $750 - $1,000 per week! Pensioners who spent their entire life savings on campers and caravans lost in the floods, have nowhere to go from here. They have literally lost everything they own and depend on a fortnightly pension to survive. How are these people supposed to afford rent in this current economy? Grants and charitable organisations have distributed funds to the people who qualified. Some people used the money to purchase used

cars to travel from A to B. Just to give a perspective, these towns are 30 to 40kms away from the next, and unlike our capital cities, public transport is not an option. Jo Smith, a resident of Woodburn NSW, lost her rental accommodation in the floods and is currently in emergency housing with her family. Jo budgeted part of the grant money and put it towards a used 4WD. Unfortunately, this car is unreliable and has already broken down too many times. With an 8-monthold baby on board, she has already been stranded, needing a tow truck and walking kilometres to the nearest town. Unfortunately, tow trucks cannot transport children. This is only one obstacle among others for the family, as they struggle to separate themselves from their children from previous marriages. As a result, Jo, her partner and the baby are forced to move further West to find affordable housing, leaving behind their other children with whom they share custody. It’s a huge sacrifice to make, yet their choices are few and far between. Jo said: “We’re just kind of trying to stay as resilient as possible, but
realising that resilience only lasts for so long.” Jo was paying $450 a week for rent in Woodburn, and finding something in this price range just won’t happen now. She works as a cleaner for AIR BNB in the Northern Rivers, and it is assumed that one third of Evans Heads consists of AIR BNB accommodations, many of which are available; unfortunately, there are no affordable long-term rentals. Jo believes that the communities are no longer as they used to be. “Those houses are empty right now while people are sleeping on the sides of riverbanks in tents, families with children staying in the area, so their children can still go to the local school.” This disaster is far from over, and without affordable housing and support, these residents of the Northern Rivers are literally homeless. This is not the best position to be in, particularly with rising interest rates and the cost of living. They must not be forgotten, they need our support, and no matter what situations arise in the world, we must first look after Australia and all Australians! Image Credit: Hollie Mariconte, Jo Smith

From farm trucks parked on the well-worn path to take away food waste for their animals, to the abundant supply of fresh fruit and vegetables being unloaded from Brett’s ute for needy local families, the scene in front of me was busy and happening. As my eyes scanned the boxes being vigorously packed in their humble garage by a cheerful bunch of volunteers, I noticed there was everything the average Aussie family would need for the week from fresh goodies, toiletries, dairy and meats, school supplies, and even the latest edition of popular monthly magazines and it was all free. Ascended Masters By ShirleySienna
Mary & Christ Child
Living spiritually conscious and conscientiously studying spiritual-isms for decades, I find it non-applicable to try to give a number to or name ‘all’ the Ascended Masters. This is because I believe the Masters are a unique and encoded pattern of neurolinguistics relayed to any individual who enquires into or is invited into this designated realm of thought-provoking consciousness! Personally, I have felt a deep recognition and connectedness to the Masters for decades. I realise I have been privy to some amazing old texts, books and experiences that perhaps would benefit me to revisit.
“…I have felt a deep recognition and connectedness to the Masters for decades.” Great synchronicity and unfoldment have many an Ascended Master beneath its surface. The energy of associating with their wisdom seems to open a door to vast information, perception and perspective. It is very different from working with spirit guides, the Angelic fraternity, or fraternising with loved ones in the spirit world.

The Masters have their abodes, and they often tend to assist you in accessing their various domains. Lord Koot Hoomi, aka Kuthumi, in connection with Lord Sananda, aka Master Jesus, will take you to his etheric library during the hours of sleep or meditation. The Lord and Lady Meru, situated near, or over Lake Titicaca, worked with me many years ago whilst I was discovering the vibration of the Crystal Skull Collective. This urged me, I believe, in cahoots with Lord Kuthumi to open my wellbeing centre, ‘The Temple of Illumination’. I realised this following a dream in a sudden epiphany that made the months of information and experiences make so much sense. I stood and wondered why I hadn’t
put it all together more along the way yet also understood that it was to be ‘after the fact and hindsight’! The Temple of Illumination is Lord and Lady Meru’s abode, yet my mind was blocked from connecting this to allow me to follow an unbiased course of action and let it unfold. I have also been connected to the Lords Maitreya and Hilarion, giving evidence of their association and existence. Maitreya revealed himself in a channelled painting I made in 2008, appearing in the very last layer at the centre of the painting. Hilarion chose to confirm himself as a part of my ‘entourage’ via my grandson, a crystal skull and a deck of oracle cards. There are things that happen which cannot be argued, conjured into being

s In-Deed Master Hilarion or imagined truth. It is far more significant and stranger than fiction when working with the Masters of Illumination and Ascended progress. Master Djwal Khul became for me, an intrepid being of dreams and vision, and imbued himself into the living soul energy of our cat Phoenix, known as Phoenix Master DK-Angel Cat, as unlikely as that may sound. However, I am sharing this information, so you understand that they are ‘Ascended Masters’ and work from a level of spiritual ascension that takes many lifetimes, incarnations, spiritual progressions and dedication, so basically, anything is possible. Certain Masters have made their presence repeatedly felt over years of sitting in circle. I feel that our individual and group resonation causes this, as nothing is random. All is a previous plan that is only revealed in the moment.
These non-denominational Initiates and Adepts incarnate over generations and interact from the spirit world and yet are able to vibrate and work with those inclined on an extremely physical and three-dimensional level. I encourage you to discover and learn from them as it can be a deep and meaningful journey that will hold you well in gathering wisdom and spiritual understanding beyond the superficial. They are ready to assist you the moment you ask, which is really the moment you understand they are already there! Here are the masters I chose to share as they are well known. The following information is from my own experience, channelling, intuition, and other published sources. Master Jesus/Lord Sananda - He is awakening and strengthening the hearts of humankind. Stimulating the ability to express unconditional
Master Kuthumi love and forgiveness and enabling the healer within. Encouraging understanding and utilising the power of the word and enabling spiritual growth in our current lifetime helps us see past the lower planes of existence and gain the highest form of perspective from our ‘illumined being’.
“Encouraging understanding and utilising the power of the word and enabling spiritual growth in our current lifetime…” Master Lady Mary, Mother of Jesus - A well-learned individual, educated in the times of the Essenes. She serves to initiate and hold us safely in the space of the Motherly and Divine Feminine Wisdom and inner strength to face the trials and tribulations of human consciousness and incarnation. She cradles you in her ‘mantle’ and loves the child within.

His strong association with Master Jesus enables you to reach the highest teachings in his library. You are literally taken on a voyage to access this during deep meditation and sleep. His vibration allows you to access the reaches of the mind, develop self-awareness and become a mystery school initiate. “A point I make here is that, over lifetimes, many Masters appear to be overlapping in their incarnations and spiritual identities.” Master Ragoczy - From amethyst to gold, the crystal known as Ametrine, a mix of amethyst and Citrine, will assist you in blending your own beautiful aura with his energising, calming and harmonic vibration. A point I make here is that, over lifetimes, many Masters appear to be overlapping in their incarnations and spiritual identities. Ragoczy was also known to be an incarnation of St Germaine, aka Compte de St. Germain, who guided me through many years of spiritual advancement and adventure. Ragoczy also specialises in the alchemy of transforming disharmony into harmony, unconscious presence into conscious awareness, behaviour and action. He works with melody and sound to heal and calm to bring peace to humanity. He strives with us to become more flexible as a race of beings. Beginning with the individual, the family, the community, and the world, he encourages the simple, less rigid way to attain life’s real qualities and entertain the ‘mystique’.
St Germain is the Ascended Master who, over many lifetimes, continues to walk the Earth and could easily be amongst us now. He is the alchemist who turns lead into gold. He often acquaints himself with the higher educated, the wealthy, or leaders in society or government. This is not to give himself the upper hand, for his love is for all. His mission is both to acquaint and to antiquate! The admiration he draws forth from these people comes in the form of poking their spiritual or soul vibration. This reduces the gap between those who consider themselves of ‘hierarchy’ and above the public. His alchemy works on a metaphysical and physical level. He is a very clever Master indeed.
intelligence and wisdom. In hindsight, perhaps that was St Germaine’s way of infiltrating a hierarchy that professes to oversee others’ spiritual development without them having the slightest idea he was doing so!
Many years ago, whilst continually under his guidance and synchronistic occurrences, I popped my hand into an old box of books in an antique shop and drew out a university text book with the alchemical and metaphysical teachings of St Germaine. That was a gobsmacking moment as it was an actual book of education. I loaned it to someone in the upper echelon of the spiritual union, thinking I would share this rare and unbelievable information. However, they let me know pretty quickly they didn’t understand it and, unfortunately, they never returned it.
Lord (Master) Maitreya – He is the divine source who engineers the energising of the Earth and controls the solar system, or should I say ‘soul-are system? He awaits the raising of our level of consciousness and willingness to find the power and presence of spirit in our life. A most joyous occasion, and you will forever be rewarded for your effort. The gift of understanding is the reward, of course!

Be the flame; see yourself in the flame of pure, high vibrational divine love!
He may lead you on the path to feeling and knowing the fundamental purpose of being incarnate, a spirit within a form. He encourages you to release attachment to old ideas and be imbued with the strength of Divine Love.
Venetian Master Paul Master Djwal Kuhl - I feel him to be so close to the earth plane, easily accessing our dimensional vibration on a one to one basis. He led me to journey into the ethers, to the hidden valleys in the mountainous ranges of Tibet and showed me the Masters and the Initiates of the Masters in human form, humble servants of the creator.

encourages us to share our gifts with others, especially in volunteer and welfare work. Although his wisdom comes very simply and easily, do not underestimate its power. He has successfully attuned it from the complex and infinite frequency and pattern of the cosmic codes to wisdom, words, and experiences within which humans of Earth can vibrate. Lord Maitreya
Be humble and be your own Master, respect and utilise the abundance of the Earth Mother and be useful to all, says Djwal Khul.
“She is a master of overall human needs rather than human wants!”
Master Djwhal-khul Master Kuthumi
Lady Nada - a very popular Master indeed, seen in many oracle decks. This is her way, she says, of spreading her divine love in modern times to the enthusiasts of the psychic and spiritual realms. However, do not take this lightly. She is a master of overall human needs rather than human wants! She offers us the ability to remove falsity and discover the truth, which is sometimes scary and brings reassurance that when you find your brave heart, it will serve you well. Working with the Diamond Light, Lady Nada advises us to be non-judgmental in attitude, to release ourselves from criticism of self and others.
Lady Nada is a most intense and powerful force in the guise of feminine beauty. She filters her energy into your being from the throat chakra, liberating the individual whilst consoling and supporting throughout the process. Lastly, I dedicate passage to Master Hilarion, or Lord Hilarious as my grandson, over a decade ago, then aged around nine said, when I asked him the name of the large quartz crystal skull I had gifted him.
“Hilarion is the Master Healer, you will find him popping up on healing boards, and in the cards, anywhere you can think of.” Hilarion is the Master Healer, you will find him popping up on healing boards, and in the cards, anywhere you can think of. He loves synchronicity and will confirm his presence time after time. On questioning said grandson a little more, I decided to open an oracle deck, the Ascended Masters. I had not done so for some time, and when I did, there he was sitting on top, no need to shuffle! He proceeded to appear in various unexpected ways for weeks to ensure I knew he was on a mission, and a short time later, I understood why. He is my go-to for support, understanding on an

parents, were understood by psychologists and programme creators, the disability term could become a greater adept and ability program, enabling much learning to be received by the participants, and all involved.
He reminds us that our spiritual self is innocent and pure, remaining so through incarnations, and assists with cleansing and healing as we traverse life. He is a light in the darkness, and the brightness of his love shines within you.
True disability is feeling at a loss, and the spiritual task set for parents, carers and program organisers is to align with this higher frequency and assist in the participant’s assimilation with society, without lowering their unique vibration.

The Masters are working with these children, with all children of the world.
Footnote In my introduction, I refer to the term ‘pattern of neurolinguistics’; from the human level to the higher spiritual levels, these Masters entertain trance and provoke thought patterns that bypass and surpass the considered norm. This is also similar to being labelled as neuro-diverse. This is a newish label for a disability programme for children and adults considered to have behavioural, mental and emotional tags such as ADHA, ADD, CAPD and Autism, which is of course important, yet perhaps spiritually incomplete. I wonder if programmes of higher education and spiritual understanding, such as looking into the human design, numerology and the divine blueprint of these kids and their

Wesak
Buddha’s Birthday By Freya Savitri Sampson Custodian Eartheart
The full moon in May marks perhaps the most significant celebration in the Buddhist calendar. Buddha Jayanti is the celebration of the birth of Prince Siddhartha Gautama, who upon his enlightenment, whilst meditating under the Bodhi Tree, transformed in consciousness and from that moment became Gautama Buddha, thus in the process of his enlightenment (god selfrealisation) Prince Siddhartha Gautama died. This is why Wesak or Vesak is the celebration of Buddha’s birth, passing and enlightenment.
Under the Bodhi Tree Bhudda’s becoming occurred over what are known as the three-watches or phases of the night.
20 20
Supernal Magazine
During the first phase of the night, when his mind was calm, clear and purified, light, knowledge and insight arose within him. He saw his previous lives, at first one, then two, three... then in multiples - thirty to fifty, growing to 100, 1000 and beyond. As he continued his practice, during the second phase of the night, he witnessed how beings die and are reborn, depending upon their Karma. feature When is Wesak? Many cultures celebrate Buddha’s birthday at slightly different times according to their tradition, April - June full moons each year, this prompted the formalisation of a date for Gautama Buddha’s birthday, a decision that was made at the first Conference of the World Fellowship of Buddhists (W.F.B.) held in Sri Lanka in 1950. Whilst festivals at this time in the Buddhist world are a centuries-old tradition, the resolution that was adopted at the World Conference is as follows: ‘That this Conference of the World Fellowship of Buddhists, while recording its appreciation of the gracious act of His Majesty, the Maharaja of Nepal in making the full-moon day of Vesak a Public Holiday in Nepal, earnestly requests the Heads of Governments of all countries in which large or small number of Buddhists are to be found, to take steps to make the full-moon day in the month of May a Public Holiday in honour of the Buddha, who is universally acclaimed as one of the greatest benefactors of Humanity.’ Prince Siddhartha Gautama it is said was born 563-483 BCE in Lumbini, Nepal. The exact date for Buddha’s Birthday is based on the Asian lunisolar calendar. In many cultures this, combines the lunar and solar components, so the date of Lunisolar calendars indicate both the moon phase and the time of the solar year, being the position of the sun in the

If the sidereal year is used (sidereal calendar) instead of the solar year, then the calendar will predict the constellation near which the full moon may occur. Vesak occurs when the Sun is in Taurus and we have either a Scorpio or Sagittarius Full Moon - considered by many to be the most powerful Full Moon of the year. The Sun’s transit through Taurus exalts the Moon. Taurus, which is ruled by Venus, who is considered the spiritual ruler of Earth. Venus is identified with Mother Mary, the World Mother. May being the month of Taurus, is therefore the month of Mary. Venus appears in the west as Quetzalcoatl, the feathered serpent god, who brought enlightenment to the Mayan culture and in the east she is the goddess Maya, mother of the Buddha.

Gautama Buddha’s Message for Humanity At the heart of the Teachings of the Buddha is contained in the teachings of the Four Noble Truths. The Noble Truth of Dukkha (suffering) The Origin or Cause of suffering The End or Cessation of suffering The Path which leads to the cessation of all sufferings The First Noble Truth is the Truth of Dukkha, which has been generally translated as ‘suffering’, however it has a deeper philosophical
meaning. Birth, old age, sickness and death are universal, all beings are subject to these unsatisfactoriness. Separation from beloved ones and pleasant conditions, association with unpleasant persons and conditions, and not getting what one desires - these are also sources of suffering and unsatisfactoriness. The Buddha summarises Dukkha in what is known as, ‘The Five Grasping Aggregates’. Herein, lies the deeper philosophical meaning of Dukkha for it encompasses the whole state of being or existence. Our life / the whole process of living is perceived as a flux or changing of energy, comprised of the five aggregates. Form/Physical process Feeling Perception Mental Formation Consciousness
When we train our minds to observe the functioning of mental and physical processes, we will realise the true nature of our lives and will see how it is subject to change and unsatisfactoriness. As such, there is no real substance or entity or Self which we can cling to as ‘I’, ‘my’ or ‘mine’ (ego). When we become aware of this truth, we naturally want to get out this state. It is at this point that we begin to seriously question ourselves about the meaning and purpose of life. This will lead us to seek the Truth with regards to the true nature of existence and the knowledge to overcome unsatisfactoriness. From the Buddhist point of view; the purpose of life is to put an end to suffering, and all other forms of unsatisfactoriness to realise inner peace, real happiness. The Second Noble Truth explains the Origin or Cause of suffering. Tanha or craving is the universal cause of suffering. It includes not only desire for sensual pleasures, wealth and power, it also includes attachment to ideas, views, opinions, concepts, and beliefs. It is the lust for flesh, for continued existence (or eternalism) in the sensual realms of existence, as well as the realms of form and the formless realms. Conversely there is also the lust/craving for non-existence (or nihilism).

These are all forms of selfishness, desiring things for oneself (even at the expense of others). Not realising the true nature of One’s Self, one clings to things which are impermanent, changeable, perishable. The inability to satisfy one’s desires through these things; causes disappointment and suffering. Craving/lust is a powerful ego-mind force, present in all of us. It is the root cause of our suffering. Craving is that which binds us in ‘Samsara’ - the repeated cycle of birth and death. The Third Noble Truth points to the cessation of suffering. Where there is no craving, there is no becoming, no rebirth. Where there is no rebirth, there is no decay, no old age, no death, therefore no suffering. The eradication of craving/lust is how suffering is ended, once and for all.

on one hand and self-torture on the other. It consists of Right Understanding, Right Thought, Right Speech, Right Action, Right Livelihood, Right Effort, Right Mindfulness and Right Concentration. The Noble Eightfold Path can be summarised into three stages of training; morality, mental culture and wisdom: Morality/good-conduct is the avoidance of evil, unwholesome actions, which are tainted by greed, hatred and delusion. It is the performance of good/ wholesome actions, which are free from greed, hatred and delusion, and which are motivated by unity, lovingkindness and wisdom.
The Fourth Noble Truth explains the Path or the Way which leads to the cessation of suffering. It is called the Noble Eightfold Path.
The purpose of moral restraint, is to free one’s mind from remorse/guilt. The mind/ conscience that is free from guilt is calm, tranquil, and ready for concentration with awareness.
The Noble Eightfold path avoids the extremes of self-indulgence
The concentrated and cultured mind, is contemplative and
analytical, capable of seeing cause and effect, and the true nature of existence, thus paving the way for wisdom and insight. Wisdom in the Buddhist context, is the realisation of the fundamental Four Noble Truths, which provide a proper sense of life purpose/direction. The message of the Buddha stands today as Immutable Truth, as it was when first enunciated. Immutable Truth can be recognised easily, as it is unaffected by time, or by the expansion of knowledge over time.

Heartfelt Change By Anthony Kilner
“…there were two major changes in Nick’s life where his heart energy exploded from him…”
You don’t have to be perfect to be a monk! It’s the impression ShirleySienna and I got while interviewing Dr Nick Ribush (pronounced Ree-bush). ShirleySienna suggested it as the name of the story, however its way too long. Heartfelt Change is relevant as there were two major changes in Nick’s life where his heart energy exploded from him and he knew what course to follow. One was with music and the other was his first foray into Buddhism in Nepal at a monastery in Kopan. The interview, linked in the story, runs through a major part of Nick’s journey into Buddhism. We’ve selected a snippet of this information for the story however it doesn’t do justice to hearing Nick recall his stories from a child born in Melbourne,

Camberwell 1944 through adolescence and into adult hood as a practicing doctor. Dr Nick was born in Melbourne (1941) to Russian Jewish immigrants from Latvia and grew up in Canterbury speaking mainly Russian until he went to school and began to learn English properly. At a young age, mid-teens, Nick decided he was going to become a doctor. He graduated from Melbourne University Medical School in 1964. Nick explains his heritage in detail in the video, however his father wanted to be a doctor before coming to Australia and while that didn’t work out for him, he encouraged his sons to go down that path, consciously or otherwise, with Nick’s brother also graduating from med school in 1968.
Melb Uni Jazz Band 1960 In the meantime, Scotch College was the home for Nick’s schooling prior to uni. In 1958 Nick’s world changed on several fronts. On a personal level, his father passed away, it was his last year at Scotch and the epiphany above all was finding jazz music. Prior to this Nick’s world was classical and opera and he wasn’t keen on it at all.
“It was like my first religious experience!” Nick heard some jazz at a friend’s place and he was taken by it. One Friday he and a friend went to the Melbourne Jazz club in Burnley, Richmond, where it was being staged at that time. In Nick’s words, “I really got off on it!” He explained that, “It was like my heart chakra

Graduation 1964 opened although I didn’t describe it as that then. It was like my first religious experience!” Nick decided he wanted to learn how to play jazz and that set off a lifetime of jazz loving fun. I could write a book on the adventures of Nick, however after a time working at Prince Henry’s, followed by a gap year at the Heidelberg Repat before heading back to Prince Henry’s, he decided to specialise in kidney disease. This part of his interview is very open and honest. From here he decided to work in a clinical situation and scored a job at Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane. Aged 29 at this stage and far from Melbourne, his life changed again.
He met his girlfriend and eventual travel partner Marie. It was around this time Nick got into smoking dope and started looking at the world differently. He couldn’t quite understand why analgesics, alcohol and cigarettes were legal and weed wasn’t. There is a huge story just in this part so I’ll leave the audio for our listeners and won’t spoil the story for you. This is a thought-provoking quote from a text written by Dr
“Physical disease is symptomatic of an unhealthy mind, and while it must be treated, the underlying mental cause must also be eradicated.”
Nick in another article. “One of the axioms of medicine is that, while it is necessary to treat the symptoms of a disease, it is more important to treat its cause. This is my reply to many who regard a medical doctor’s becoming a monk as some kind of loss. Physical disease is symptomatic of an unhealthy mind, and while it must be treated, the underlying mental cause must also be eradicated. This can only be done through the practice of Dharma, which alone offers the possibility of a perfectly healthy mind. Before one can dispense this ultimate remedy, one has to achieve it in one’s own mind. This is the way to be of greatest benefit to others.” With adventures in Bali and further travels east Marie and Nick ended up in Nepal. It was 1972 and the world was a

It was a book called Buddhism, by Christmas Humphreys. It was a start and ultimately led him to Kopan and the monastery. While the book wasn’t really that good, according to Nick, it was a big catalyst to his becoming a publisher – the heart expanding moment!

In Nick’s words, “We wended our way there through the beautiful rice fields of the sparsely populated valley, nothing like it is now, and climbed the hill. Nobody seemed to be around but there were a couple of notices on a bulletin board. One was for a ten-day Goenka Vipassana course; the other was for the Third Kopan Course, starting 28 October 1972. Marie enthusiastically suggested we do the short one, but since the Kopan course was only 300 rupees for the month, much cheaper than staying in Kathmandu, I insisted we do that.”
Yerpa Tibet 1993
This led to the fulfilment of the second heart opening moment, meeting the teacher, Lama Thubten Zopa Rinpoche, and the teachings made attending the Kopan course, the most important event of my life. Eventually this phenomenal journey saw Nick become ordained as a Buddhist monk. After this course Marie (who became the nun Yeshe Khadro), and Nick worked on the transcripts from previous courses and produced the first book of teachings by Lama Zopa Rinpoche. Since then he has been a student of Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche and a full time worker for their international organization, the Foundation for the Preservation of the Mahayana Tradition (FPMT). Nick lived and breathed being a monk for 12 years – 1974 to 1986. During that time he has travelled the world supporting Buddhism, including setting up Tushita, a meditation centre in New Delhi, and eventually heading up Wisdom Publishing in the UK, spreading the teachings of his Lamas. He still does this today. In 1974 Nick played a pivotal role in setting up the Chenrezig Institute in Queensland, one
“Eventually this phenomenal journey saw Nick become ordained as a Buddhist monk.” of the first and still one of the largest Buddhist centres in western world. Just this story alone is amazing how everything aligned to make this possible. I asked Nick about leaving the monkhood becoming a lay person. In his words: “After Lama Yeshe’s spectacular Six Yogas of Naropa teachings at Istituto Lama Tzong Khapa, near Pisa, Italy, over the winter of 1982– 83, I led a two-month editing retreat in which seven of us took on various projects editing some of Lama Yeshe’s other tantric teachings. During this time, the director of Wisdom Publications in London quit and Lama Yeshe asked me to leave my job running the Tushita Centre in New Delhi and take over Wisdom, which I had co-founded with him at Kopan in 1975. At first Lama showed some reluctance, saying, “London is not a good place for monks and nuns.” In fact, at the start there would be just three of us there, two nuns — my ex, Yeshe Khadro, Robina Courtin and me. Still, in the end, I went there to begin my next adventure. “Up until that time I had always worn my monk’s robes and had lived in Nepal and India, where everybody understood what a Buddhist monk was. But in London, I thought that I would have more credibility as a businessman running a publishing company if I wore lay clothes. So that decision was the beginning of the
slippery slope back into lay life. Since we didn’t have much money, I finished up living in a sort of squat with other laypeople, leading what was basically an ordinary life: wearing regular clothes, going to the office every day, and returning in the evening to a home in which there weren’t any other Sangha. So, over the next three years I began to think more like a layperson than a monk, which caused me some conflict. “I have to blame my weak mind primarily, but the conditions were also stacked against me, as Lama had predicted. How I finished up disrobing is a long story, but I figured I’d rather be a good lay practitioner than a bad monk. So in 1986, I returned my ordination to Geshe Wangchen, the resident teacher of our London centre, and that was it!
The one special part of Nick is that while he’s lived away from Australia for a long time, 50 years, he hasn’t lost that larrikin side to him – of the boy that grew up in Melbourne, found jazz music around the time the Beatles and The Rolling Stones were growing names in the music scene. Please check out the websites and books Nick is involved in to bring about awareness of Buddhism to the world. “Wisdom Publications continued to grow and establish itself as one of world’s premier Buddhist publishing companies, and in 1989 we moved to Boston, as the prospects for greater success seemed to lie in America.” This interview with Nick was totally fascinating and I admire him for his honesty and very frank way of chatting. I’ve met many people over the years and as I say in the interview he talks so monkilly! He reminded me of the gentle souls of the older monks I worked with in India. It was a special interview in more ways than one.

Reincarnation – Experiences By Jane Offer The concept of many lives, reincarnation, has been my belief for as long as I can remember. It has brought me derision and a lack of understanding, even from my own mother. When asked by a client in my early 40’s, “Has she always been like this?” My mother’s reply, “Well, she’s always been odd?” It was the first time it was spoken out loud and made sense of her approach to me in childhood.
“I spent hours lost in the memory I could see and feel, willing them to come and collect me and welcome me home.” My earliest memory was of waiting for a family of two brothers and one sister and fully engaged parents, from whom I believed I had been separated. I spent hours lost in the memory I could see and feel, willing them to come and collect me and welcome me home. This of course, did not happen and as I grew older and understood the

connection, the memory faded into normal thought, far and distant. I must say I look forward to reconnecting with them at some point in spirit form – who knows when! My fascination with the Bible and the stories therein was stimulated from my first day at school. I hadn’t heard any of it before, yet I could sense a deeper meaning behind the words. I was convinced of a hidden message and that it was being ignored. That early experience was magnified aged eight by joining Sunday School. Mine was not a religious family, and I rather suspect this was the perfect way for my parents to have a peaceful afternoon, free from my constant questions. I was obviously under the wrong impression, as the experience was short-lived. I remember the day I was sent home for entering into a ‘discussion’ with the teacher regarding the story of the feeding of the five thousand. I listened to her interpretation and offered her my ‘correct’ version. It was 1954, so a child’s
opinions were not sought or welcome. Rather snippily, I thought, she asked me how I knew that. “Well, I was there!” was my reply. As you can imagine, it was not received with openness, and I was removed forthwith, never to return. Many years later, I went to Israel and stood on the spot where this event supposedly happened – a profound experience I will never forget. This began my next step, based on my growing awareness that reincarnation was the only sensible idea to interpret the meaning of life. Science says we are the most sophisticated life form on Earth, so what would be the purpose of living a life that ended with no specific outcome, only procreation. That is the reason for animals and plants, yet for us humans? Surely there is more to it. Also, religion talks of returning to Heaven, to God, indicating to me that if we are to return there, then surely that is our place of origin. And so, the search started. Over my life, I have engaged in diverse Past Life remembering’s:
feature
s of Far Memory deep meditation, inspiration flashes involving places and people, past life regression and random events that have become part of the tapestry of my physical experience. My first adventure was meeting Jenny Cockrell, author of Yesterday’s Children, recording the events from her childhood, where she remembered very detailed and intimate details of a previous life in Ireland.
“…the BBC picked up her story and took her to the Irish village recognisable from the maps she began drawing at 6-years old.” Jenny spoke of her children and how, on her death, they were separated and placed in an orphanage by their father. Eventually, the BBC picked up her story and took her to the Irish village recognisable from the maps she began drawing at 6-years old. On this first visit to Ireland, the village had not changed, and its layout matched her maps exactly. The researchers also took her
to Dublin’s Rotunda Hospital, where she identified the room where she died, information backed up by the hospital records. More amazingly, she met five of her children, some of whom were unaware of the existence of any siblings. She was 45 at the time, and they were well into their 80s, and as they discussed memories of their childhood with their reincarnated mother, they agreed that with her knowledge of their lives, she was who she purported to be. This event led me to read The Search for Bridey Murphy, a book of similar past life experiences by Virginia Tighe, with details endorsed by records and people surviving from that life. Many books on Near-Death Experiences give accounts of people who have moved close to death, an experience my grandmother had way after my early explorations. Many are written by doctors and researchers, reporting on experiments concerning these events. The largest of its kind was based in Southampton University in 2008,
involving 2060 patients from 15 hospitals in the UK, USA and Austria. Books such as Life Beyond by Hans Holzer, provide evidencebased support for the reality of reincarnation, and Dr Michael Newton founded an Institute dedicated to the same principles. Whilst these are interesting, there is certain doubt cast by many on the hypothesis: Do the individuals have a religious belief in an afterlife? Is it drug-induced, as some doctors believe? Is it based on their own reading or research? These questions are largely answered by books on children having these experiences, many too young to have been externally influenced.
“On investigation, it became clear that she had entered the Inter-life, the place between lives.” During this time, I came across Brian Weiss, an American psychiatrist, hypnotherapist, and prolific author who

specialises in Past Life Regression. He had no belief in reincarnation until he worked with one of his staff, who had a condition that was not responding to treatment. He suggested hypnosis, and immediately the patient began giving information that was not within her physical experience. On investigation, it became clear that she had entered the Inter-life, the place between lives. His future work became based on the knowing that reincarnation is, for him, a reality. I had the privilege of attending a seminar and again received a past life regression that healed a persistent shoulder injury influenced by a past life experience.

regressions delivered by a spiritualist minister who was also a hypnotherapist. I had two profound memories, one very short, as I was overcome by fear at what I was experiencing and he pulled me out very quickly; a situation that can still generate a vague fear. The other, minutely detailed, had me living in London with an aunt, uncle and cousin who had taken me on at the death of my parents. I was able to give details of the streets around St James Park with great accuracy, a place I had never visited. He also randomly asked for specific dates and years, which I supplied more quickly than my mathematically challenged brain could possibly calculate.
“Years later, I met a girl who felt we had a past life together, and she proceeded to tell the same story…”
Years later, I met a girl who felt we had a past life together, and she proceeded to tell the same story, from the viewpoint of the cousin, she was to me in that life. The details matched exactly, yet I had never met her or had any mutual contacts. This incident was mirrored in a deep meditation group. One of the participants apologised to me for her negative actions causing me harm in the past life she had remembered in her meditation. She told the story, and the details matched exactly what I had also seen. I had never met this lady either! On another adventure, I volunteered for a Jewish psychiatrist who didn’t believe in reincarnation. Over several sessions under hypnosis, I told him the stories that were playing out in my mind. It was similar to watching them on a large screen, graphic and detailed but with no emotional connection to any of them: it was simply telling a story. He researched the details, which
were verified, yet they had no connection to me. This led to my understanding that the lives we remember spontaneously have a connection to the purpose of this life. Those forced are simply meaningless memories, at least for this lifetime.
“The last professional regression I experienced verified the information and added much more to the Sunday School incident, some 40 years later.” The last professional regression I experienced verified the information and added much more to the Sunday School incident, some 40 years later. When I was brought back from the hypnotic state, the therapist and I were both in tears with the overwhelming feeling of peace and joy generated in the room.
“A random event was my final confirmation that we meet people from other lives for a purpose…” A random event was my final confirmation that we meet people from other lives for a purpose, and they are not necessarily close to us in this life. One day, we were driving along our street, having just left home, when I noticed an elderly lady walking slowly carrying a heavy bag. As we drew level, she dropped a £5 note. We stopped the car, and I picked it up, following her up the road. Without me calling out, she turned, looked at the note and then straight into my eyes. “You did it right this time, and the debt is paid.” Her words struck deep into my heart. Before I could reply, she turned on her heel and moved off. I looked towards the car in confusion and then back to her - she was gone – just disappeared! There was
nowhere for her to go, no paths to houses, only a grassy bank leading to fields. Over the long period of my life, I have learned not to question, simply accept events such as these. Little did I know these 40 years were a preparation for a much more impactful set of experiences, which were just about to come to light. I’ll cover more on this in the June 2022 issue.

Sacred Sites - Alchemy
Wesak Valley
By Freya Savitri Sampson Custodian Eartheart Not all visits to sacred sites are physical. For several years, based on the Legend of Wesak (Vesak) Valley, by esoteric Author, Alice Bailey, I facilitated a special group journey in an etheric Merkabah to the Wesak Valley on Buddha’s Birthday. To do so I followed the basic outline of Alice Bailey’s description of the Wesak Legend. Participants were arranged seated in concentric circles and particular order. Working together with sound healing musicians, or playing crystal bowls myself, the Shamballa energy is anchored and passed through the group, who are following particular guided breath work techniques. The whole journey was guided like a meditation. Chanting and the sacred sound took people out of their mind and ego vehicles, into their heart and soul frequencies, before the Merkabah vehicle can be built. Shamballa energy acts as the rainbow bridge, by which we astral travelled, to the Wesak Valley in Tibet. It also enabled
the group to receive high frequency light codes for their personal Spiritual Mission for the year to come. Upon our return from the Wesak gathering and ceremony, we delivered blessings to special locations on our way home. The following text has been condensed from The Legend of Wesak by Alice Bailey. According to tradition, at the opportune time of the full moon in Taurus, Buddha comes to the Wesak Valley - in the foothills of the Himalayan-Tibet ranges, to bring spiritual energy from Shambhala, to the assembly for distribution of his consciousness blessings throughout the world. Approaching the time of the full moon of Taurus, pilgrims from all over the world gather, amassing a group of great beings; Custodians on Earth of God’s Plan for our planet and for humanity. They arrange themselves in concentric circles, in preparation for great service. In front of a flat rock, are disciples of The Three Great Lords: The Christ, Who stands in the centre, The Manu, Who stands at His right; and The Lord
of Civilization, who stands to His left. These three face the rock upon which rests a great crystal bowl, full of water. As the hour of the full moon approaches, stillness settles. Ritualistic movements take place, in which the grouped Masters and Their disciples of all ranks take up symbolic positions, and form on the floor of the valley such significant symbols as the five-pointed star, with The Christ standing at the highest point; of a triangle, with The Christ at the apex; or a cross, and other well-known formations, all of which have a deep and potent meaning. This is all done to the sound of certain chanted words and esoteric phrases, called Mantrams. The expectancy in the waiting, onlooking crowd becomes great. The chanting and the rhythmic weaving grows stronger. The participants raise their eyes towards the sky. Minutes before the time of the full moon, a tiny speck is seen in the sky. Nearing it grows in clarity, until The Buddha is seen illuminated, with his hand extended in blessing.

“The effect of this great Invocation is universal or cosmic, and serves to link us up with that cosmic centre of spiritual force…”
When Buddha arrives exactly centrally over the rock, hovering in the air above The Three Great Lords, the great Mantram, used only once a year, at The Festival, is intoned by The Christ, and the entire group of people in the valley fall upon their faces. This Invocation sets up a great vibration or thought current which is of such potency that it reaches up from the group of aspirants, disciples and initiates who employ it, to the Being we know as God. It marks the supreme moment of intensive spiritual effort throughout the entire year, and the spiritual vitalisation of humanity and the spiritual effects last throughout the succeeding months.
The effect of this great Invocation is universal or cosmic, and serves to link us up with that cosmic centre of spiritual force from which all created beings have come. The blessing is poured forth, and The Christ, as the representative of humanity, receives it in trust, for distribution. The whole ceremonial blessing, from the time of the first appearance in the distance until the moment The Buddha fades from view, takes eight minutes. The Buddha’s annual sacrifice for humanity (for He comes back only at great cost) completed, He returns again to that high place where He works and waits. Year after year He comes back in blessing; year after year, He and His great
brother, The Christ, work in the closest cooperation for the spiritual benefit of humanity. In these two great Sons of God have been focussed two aspects of divine life, and they act together as Custodians of the highest type of spiritual force to which our humanity can respond.

Sacred Sites - Africa’s Greatest Mysteries

Such wisdom is passed only to a select group of wisdom keepers. One such man, our very own Sanusi of the highest order, Baba Credo Vusamazulu Mutwa, carried the secret knowledge of our continent and worked tirelessly for the 99 years of his life to bring this truth to light. Right now, there is a great awakening happening, both

All my life, I have felt a strange living resonance in Africa. As a child, I had a sense of the continent being connected to the Earth’s centre by an umbilical cord, an anchor of profound stability for me in my life. I was born in the ancient goldfields of Johannesburg. That too seems to have imprinted in me an awareness of a conduit of spiritual enlightenment and life force itself, directing my adventures toward those golden places in Africa which are rich in this alchemy of spirit and truth. Gold resonates among the highest mineral frequencies on Earth.
Exactly 20 years ago, I began my search for truth in earnest. I enrolled in archaeology and geology courses and bought several books I was drawn to because of my interest. Books by authors in South Africa who clearly shared an unspoken calling; Baba Credo Mutwa, Michael Tellinger, Dean Liprini and Linda Tucker. Over the course of the next ten years, I came to meet and work closely with all of them in their respective fields toward uncovering Africa’s great mysteries. From Dean’s work in the past few articles, we have learned that there is a profound diamond light grid that plays out along the southern tip of Africa, precisely mirrored at the exact same latitude north. Much of Dean’s work is based on the experience of Baba Mutwa, whose knowledge of Africa encompasses our history to the very beginning of time. Michael Tellinger’s research endeavoured to uncover the history of gold mining in Africa, tracing the story from the Sumerian tablets to a vast area of inexplicable stone circles in

This coincided with the arrival of the sacred white lions there in the early 1990s and an immersion into the Lion Shamanism Africa through Baba Mutwa. Where are we going with all this? Credo Mutwa told Linda Tucker, “Ma’am, all knowledge in the
world is connected. It is all from one great source. There is nothing the ancient Egyptians knew that we do not know.” He tells us that African legend, as with Egyptian mythology, speaks of Leonine Star Gods coming to Earth to seed humanity. There is a fundamental belief across the continent that events on Earth are connected to events in the heavens: As above, so below. Delving into Egyptian history, we learn about ‘Zep Tepi’, directly translating as ‘First Time’. It is the ancient Egyptian phrase denoting a genesis moment, which prompted civilisation into the Golden Age and was marked by the divine positioning of the pyramids of
Giza, reflected both on Earth and in the heavens. Interestingly, the information written about this ‘First Time’ coincides with a longitudinal line running through the entire African continent laying at 31 degrees 14 minutes east. It is the prime meridian at the centre of the Earth’s landmasses, which traces from Egypt, along the Nile to the equator, passing through the Great Zimbabwe ruins, the Timbavati, through Adam’s Calendar overlooking the Barberton Valley and down to Durban. “A great river flows under the African continent, a river that is said to lead both into the future and back through the past.” - Baba Mutwa Baba tells us that an unbroken seam of gold originally ran deep inside the Earth, reflected directly above in the heavens as the Milky Way. This will be the focus of my following few Sacred Sites articles.

Reflections The Power of Suggestion By Jane Offer
There is a great social movement, based on the idea of being inclusive. Millions of dollars are spent in research and planning ideal ways to ensure the various sections and subsections of the community are treated in an inclusive manner. It appears that in the workplace, schools and society at large, there is a plethora of politically correct directives, which are constantly shifting to accommodate the speed at which our community is changing.
“There is a great social movement, based on the idea of being inclusive.” However, over the past months, the meaning of ‘inclusive’ has changed and appears to mean ‘defer and agree, otherwise, you are wrong’. Certain choices have rendered a vast number of the population to be excluded from even the very core of their life, their family. Anger and outrage have abounded on both sides, yet, from their

This raised emotional state, whether idealistic or from a fear-based aggressive stance, creates emotional responses that are triggered in the heat of the moment. Unfortunately, self-righteous outrage allows no time for reflection. Let’s face it; it is difficult enough to hear our own inner voice, so it can be almost impossible to find it when being harangued by a person’s words with which one vehemently disagrees. The result: neither listening to the other, neither agreeing with the other, nor allowing the other to cut across their own views for fear of being seen as wrong. Our impulse to reduce opposing viewpoints to nothing, often feels justified and that justification is sought wherever it can be found. After all, why would we want to check our own ideas against logic or
compassion when others validate us through similar thinking? There is no space allowed to discuss and share or come to the idea that maybe both are correct in their own beliefs. So, the slightest collective reinforcement redoubles the outrage, whether on Facebook, Twitter or from our group of like-minded people. This can be dangerous territory and will, without fail, lead to one section or another of society being vilified or oppressed. A situation is often created through hearsay, lack of information or understanding of another’s views and choices, based on life experiences from both sides. How often have we fallen under the influence of others’ beliefs simply because we just wanted to fit in or be seen as ‘one of the guys’? In our youth, this approach is all too familiar, as no one wishes to stand out from the crowd or run the risk of ridicule or, worse still, rejection. We choose to believe what we are told rather than think it
health and wellbeing
through, often believing stories about another that we know in our hearts are false. Yet we go along with it.
“We learn it is better to think first and act later, to listen to our gut feelings and to disregard information that does not sit well with us.” As we generate an attitude of compassion and tolerance, we become tired of the game and aspire to live life to our own beat in the best way we can. We learn it is better to think first and act later, to listen to our gut feelings and to disregard information that does not sit well with us. This story, told by Senator Gerard Rennick*, graphically illustrates these dilemmas and gives us pause for thought. “One of my friends told me about a powerful lesson in her daughter’s High School class. They’re learning about the Salem Witch Trials and their teacher told them they were
going to play a game. “I will come around and whisper to each of you whether or not you are a witch. Your goal is to build the largest group possible that does not have a witch in it. In the end, any group found to include a witch will receive a failing grade.” The teens dove into grilling each other. One fairly large group formed; however, most of the students broke into small, exclusive groups, turning away anyone they thought gave off even a hint of guilt. “Okay,” the teacher said. “You’ve got your groups. Time to find out which ones fail. All witches, please raise your hands.”
And that is how easy it is to divide and control the thinking of an individual, a group or a community by simply shunning, scapegoating and dividing. Note: Gerard Rennick has been an Australian politician and a Senator for Queensland since July 2019. He is a member of the Liberal National Party of Queensland and sits with the Liberal Party in the federal parliament. Doubtless, his thought process for this story had a more specific focus, yet it also serves a broader purpose. Its inclusion does not indicate a political bias of either the writer or the Magazine.
No one raised a hand. The kids were confused and told the teacher he’d messed up the game. “Did I? Was anyone in Salem an actual witch? Or did everyone just believe what they’d been told?”

Pathways to Conscious Health
Illness as Healer By Dr Catherine Fyans Recently I had the flu. Yes, an ordinary ‘flu’, as I’ve had many times prior to 2020. I chose to avoid getting on the bandwagon of a wannabe label by having a grossly inaccurate test. I did not want to add to the hysteria. I self-isolated while I waited for my body to recover and that was enough. Having said that, I do not actually believe that anyone ‘gives’ us an illness, or that we ‘catch’ it from someone else. I know that, personally, it is a certain type of emotional stress, part of my internal milieu, that makes me vulnerable to experiencing un-wellness. This time, exactly as before, I had ignored the emotional cues until my body kindly reminded me of what I needed to address. Hindsight is a wonderful thing!
“I chose to avoid getting on the bandwagon of a wannabe label by having a grossly inaccurate test.” We’ve got it so wrong regarding illness causation. Our medical world is fixated

on physical cause and effect and hunting down the supposed enemy to annihilate it into oblivion. As if! I know it doesn’t actually work that way - it’s good for the sickness industry though. The wisdom of my body decided to find a way to slow me down, to do some long overdue emotional processing and inner reflection that I had been way ‘too busy’ and distracted to give time to. As I surrendered to this wisdom to naturally heal, which it did quickly and completely, I addressed the inner turmoil that instigated the un-wellness. With that, and some much needed time away from the fray, the insights came. During the process, I also knew that my immune system received a nice work-out and toxins, physical and, particularly, emotional, were being expelled from my system. Illness will flush to the surface what needs to be acknowledged and released, for that content is much better out of our system than remaining hidden, where it continues to exert its insidious deleterious effects by stealth.
The body knows before the intellect, so we are well advised to tune in. Labels and diagnoses are intellectual constructs that are superfluous to the experience of unwellness. Our bodies gift us with being reliable reflections of what we hold in our vast unconscious minds. Essentially, all illness is an opportunity to address the ‘shadow’, those deeper, hidden aspects of our consciousness that are begging to be acknowledged and integrated. Many would be confronted by these notions, as they go against what we have been programmed to believe about health, and many prefer to remain comforted by the belief that they can defend against, or attack, the perceived enemy without. In current times, this defending against the dubious invisible enemy is officially encouraged, if not enforced, to an unprecedented degree. This is aided by a heavy dose of government sanctioned psychological ‘nudging’ that has manipulated people’s primal survival fears to have them unquestionably comply to this extremely myopic,
health and wellbeing unilateral approach to health care. When people are gripped by survival fears, to the extent that their more rational pre-frontal cortices are all but shut down on the matter, they will not be receptive to more expansive understandings of illness manifestation.
“People argue that acknowledging consciousness-related factors regarding illness manifestation is a blame game.” People argue that acknowledging consciousnessrelated factors regarding illness manifestation is a blame game. Over the years, I have often heard, “You are blaming me for my illness!?” as though they, themselves, have nothing to do with what goes on in their own bodies. It’s an interesting perspective. Exploration of these areas is not about blame at all; it is about awareness, insight, self-responsibility and, potentially, a much deeper knowing of oneself. However, when people are gripped by the victim stance, they will not be interested in self-responsibility. We have collectively decided that all illness is erroneous, malign, harmful and an aberration of nature. I beg to differ. Nature does not get it wrong; we are just very good at misinterpreting it, especially when it comes to matters of health. Proponents of the problem-reaction-solution and
fix it models, upon which most of modern healthcare is based, would not embrace these concepts in any way. llness and pain gain our attention when other indications do not, yet can also be a great distraction from the machinations of our minds. When we are focussed solely on the physical, as our medical culture encourages us to be, we get further away from the contents of our consciousness that contributes to the illness experience. It takes some re-training to alter our gaze.
“…we can take care of the details of our physical symptoms and needs, while maintaining a bigger picture perspective.” We do need to support the body while we attend to the
related mental and emotional factors within. There are always physical factors because we are in a physical world. However, we can take care of the details of our physical symptoms and needs, while maintaining a bigger picture perspective. We can tend to the micro while acknowledging the macro. Either, alone, will probably not cut it. To quote Swiss psychiatrist, Carl Jung - “We are not so much meant to heal our illnesses but rather our illnesses are meant to heal us.”

21st Century Child Parenting
The Magic of co-regulaTion By Olivia Sinco A fancy word for a simple technique, co-regulation is defined beautifully by www.relationshiprestoration.org as: “The way that the nervous system of one individual influences the nervous system of another.” If I can hold a state of calm, happiness and contentment, then children around me will come to feel this too. In energetic terms, co-regulation is simply law of attraction.
Co-regulation is happening all the time, whether we’re aware of it or not. The real value behind becoming aware of and practicing it, is to build better relationships with the children in our lives, influencing them in a way that is beneficial for their wellbeing and development.
There may be tears, children in the hallway refusing to move, staring out of the window, running away or just playing. Now here is where law of attraction kicks into play, because I know that in order to create the right conditions to have children co-regulate with me, I must not pursue them. It appears that many children are accustomed to being pursued at home. If I spend my day chasing the co-operation of every wayward student, I would leave work drained, because they seem to feed off of the chase. It simply isn’t effective.
Imagine a busy five-yearold’s classroom on a Monday morning. There may be up to eight children who, for

them feel safe and motivated to want to join the class and learn. And so ‘Card Club’ began. I put on a timer for 10 minutes and bring out four packs of kiddie cards that can be used for the games Snap, Fish, Old Maid and Memory Match. All the stragglers are invited to play.
“Of any strategy I’ve ever used, card games are by far the most effective. Why? Because I love to play cards.” Of any strategy I’ve ever used, card games are by far the most effective. Why? Because I love to play cards. If, on these Monday mornings for example, someone suggested that I take out a game of Battleships
health and wellbeing can exhibit extremes of emotion at the drop of a hat and, if I don’t hold my own balance properly, I’ll be swayed by their ups and downs and join them in a negative place. For parents, whatever it takes to hold that unshakeable feeling of happiness, that’s your strength. It becomes a discipline.
“When the truth is, taking care of our own happiness and having them join us in it, is the real point of power.”
to entice our dysregulated students back to the mat, it simply wouldn’t work. I hate Battleships and can’t last even a few minutes without getting bored. The success of Card Club, at dramatically lifting the emotional state of students in minutes, is due to the strong positive emotional state it triggers within me. The students are co-regulating with me, and the speed and effectiveness of the energetic transference is magical to see. Whatever problem they have, playing together seems to ‘wipe the slate clean’, bringing them all back to square one.
the momentum of the games, my instigation of the process and holding space for it to occur is just the starting point.
The biggest surprise I’ve had over the first term of using it, is that what they want most is to play each other. All I have to do is sit by, watch the timer and help with some of the shuffling and dealing. I realise, it’s peer to peer connection that feeds
Cards aside, the basic concept of co-regulation is that I need to be in a very secure state of calm, in order to have children co-regulate with me, if I’m not, it can be other way around, where I may unintentionally co-regulate with them. Children
Over in the senior classrooms, the success of cards is just as evident. Using a regular deck, I’ll play one-on-one with a student who’s having trouble sitting still and, as with the younger ones, I’ve discovered that playing each other is what the older kids want too. I’ll often have 12-year-olds begging me that, if they do a good job on their learning, can they play cards together afterwards as a reward?
It’s probably the biggest misnomer of modern parenting, that taking care of our children’s happiness is the goal. When the truth is, taking care of our own happiness and having them join us in it, is the real point of power. From an unshakeable state of contentedness, we have the strength and clarity to teach our kids that meeting their needs is more important than satisfying their wants. We remain energetically in charge in a way that benefits the entire family.

A New Earth – Now
What Buddha’s Astrology Shows Us! By Melanie Dufty
The Buddhist Wesak Festival or Buddha’s birthday is celebrated at the May full moon, marking the birth, enlightenment and death of the great master Siddhartha Gautama Shakyamuni. It’s said we are showered at this time with extra blessings from both Buddha and a host of Ascended Masters.
“All eclipses are harbingers of change, ushering in evolution.” 48 48
Supernal Magazine
The details of his birth are unconfirmed, however it’s understood he was born under strong Taurean energy, hence the Wesak celebration in May, when the sun is in Taurus.
It’s no coincidence that the essence of Taurus concerns mastering non-attachment and the practically-divine art of living, both fundamental concepts in Buddhism.
Wesak Eclipse This year Wesak falls on May 16, on the full moon in Taurus’ partner sign Scorpio. It also happens to be a total lunar eclipse that extends the transformational energies of this Wesak. It’s the third eclipse in the current cycle of seven, taking place across the axis of Taurus and Scorpio, which began November 2021 and ends October 2023. At a lunar eclipse, the shadow of the Earth falls across the face of the moon bringing unconscious feelings to the surface. This allows for culminations of emotional cycles that have run their course, helping us let go of what no longer serves. The Scorpio energy brings themes of transformation, death, and rebirth, which is ultimately about enlightenment and, with the Wesak blessings and powers of a total lunar eclipse; this is an ultrahelpful time to release the attachments holding us back from fulfilling our soul purpose.
astrology
“To be attached to something or someone, there must be two separate things; that which is being attached to and the person who’s attaching.” The Themes All eclipses are harbingers of change, ushering in evolution. Eclipses are triggered by the movement of the moon’s karmic south and north nodes, or past and future destiny markers, which are currently moving through Scorpio and Taurus respectively, in essentially the same timeframe. The current eclipse cycle pushes the evolution of these two signs, bringing forward the transformation of their themes around money, resource management, refinement of values and lifestyle choices, and issues of power and control. Thus economic and resource management will continue experiencing upheaval, especially with the planet of shake-ups and liberation, Uranus, still moving through Taurus in the coming few years. The personal realms of life where we carry Taurus and Scorpio in our natal charts, is also up for some serious change through the full eclipse cycle. We’re purging what’s no longer needed in connection to our Scorpionic past, as this is where the south node is transiting. This purging connects to themes around power and control, the way we
manage and share money and resources, sexuality and deep intimacy, the ‘devil inside’, our fears and secret shadows. With the positive future energy of the north node simultaneously moving through Taurus, we’re pushed to build stability and practical sustenance. It also allows us to embrace a more enlightened value system that transcends attachment to material possessions, sensual overindulgence and other people.
Taurean Qualities of Buddhism The sign of the holy cow or bull helps us create true higher meaning and value in a grounded and practical life, requiring non-attachment. On the way to mastering this, unevolved Taurus is acquisitive and possessive. These Taurean higher principles are easily seen in Buddhism. Its Four Noble Truths are based on non-attachment, with the fourth truth being a series of practical rules and methods for living life. The ability to find Nirvana requires us to master non-attachment, which can be seen as the realisation we are all One.
To be attached to something or someone, there must be two separate things; that which is being attached to and the person who’s attaching. In non-attachment there’s unity, as there is nothing to attach to when we have unified with the universe. In a much bigger perspective than Wesak or the current eclipse cycle, the Earth and those humans who are ready, willing and able are in the intense throes of entering an era of unity after about 12,000 years of experiencing separation. In this context, the teachings of the Buddha and this year’s extra potent Wesak are more helpful than ever, as we are at push-point to find unity in our Earthly existence. The art of living with Taurean mastery is designed for us to progress in leaps and bounds over the next 17 or so months.

To Be or Not To Be By ShirleySienna
“To be or not to be.” the opening phrase given by Prince Hamlet in William Shakespeare’s play. In the speech, the prince contemplates death and suicide, bemoaning the pain and unfairness of life, yet acknowledges that there may be a worse consequence.
“In the speech, the prince contemplates death and suicide, bemoaning the pain and unfairness of life...” With the global planetary alignments and cosmic events impacting Mother Earth, including a Super Black Moon Eclipse, and various retrogrades that tend to create inner human havoc, we ask ourselves what to do? If we follow the calendar of galactic consciousness, perhaps we can find a way to handle the

It’s all in the name of liberty from May 2, Yellow Planetary Seed, guided by the power of free will. Much has been infiltrating our psyche, and it may be feeling quite overwhelming at the same time, however this is not intended to give license to avoid personal responsibility and retrospect. ‘I perfect in order to Target Producing Awareness I seal the input of flowering With the Planetary tone of Manifestation I am guided by the power of Free Will’. This is the eleventh moon of the 13 Moon year. It’s spectral and enhances the
power to dissolve, release, and liberate. ‘One day at a time, one step for mankind’ could be your motto. The calendar is perpetual motion, an energy unto itself. A clock set by ancient timekeepers, so advanced in both theory and practical persuasion that leaving it in stone for us to decode and apply, was simply to make sure it didn’t erode under the influence of thirddimensional warped time and ignorant civilisation.
“Known as the ‘Lord of the Dance’, a master of a form of ascension that oversees the endless cycles of time...” Lord Shiva, seen by many as a God of Destruction, gets a bad rap, for deconstructing is necessary if we are building the new. Known as the ‘Lord

of the Dance’, a master of a form of ascension that oversees the endless cycles of time, marking its pace with drum and footsteps. Shiva’s birthday is said to be celebrated in the month of the Hindu calendar Maagha, which coincides with Gregorian January/February. It’s month number 11, which nicely aligns in this piece of prose in accordance with our current moon of spectral tone and liberation, the 11th Moon of the Solar Year. There are many calendars in this world of occupied thought and division. Time and date, are just an inflection of culture and civilised ideas. Do a little study to see how inspired we can be by different global references, rather than just focusing through one’s own lens, which can be quite distorted with a narrow view. You may skip merrily through the kin days or drag yourself, depending on your personal experience however, please take to heart that each kin has a meaning and awareness schedule intrinsic that can balance and enhance the practice of living, so unlike Hamlet, you may not sink too deeply into the conundrum of “To be or not to be.” A lot depends on how you utilise your own personal super power. May 30, Yellow Crystal Human sets the tone of the kin and the 28 day Moon; cooperation is key, and dedicating oneself to
universalising this energy is advised. ‘I dedicate in order to Influence Universalising Wisdom I seal the process of Free Will With the Crystal tone of Cooperation I am guided by the power of Flowering’.
“I am One, I am All, All are One, is a good mantra as the Serpent kin of crystal tone appears…” Kind yet firm, mindful yet carefree, heaven and earth unified. I am One, I am All, All are One, is a good mantra as the Serpent kin of crystal tone appears thirteen kin days later, June 12.
