IN THIS ISSUE: DEPARTMENT HIGHLIGHT CHAMPIONS YEAR IN REVIEW BUILDING TOMORROW, TODAY PROJECT HIGHLIGHT COMING IN 2026
DOZER DAY Dozer Day KC 2025 brought together future builders, families, and plenty of hands-on fun! The weekend was filled with meeting young builders, sharing activities, and talking about how the roads and projects around them come to life. We even caught up with a few familiar faces along the way!
A NOTE FROM MATT As we wrap up this year, I’ve found myself thinking a lot about the people who make Superior Bowen what it is. This has been an incredible season. Not just because of the work we completed, but because of the people who showed up every day to make it happen. We faced big projects, long days, tight timelines, and plenty of unexpected challenges. finding solutions and delivering the kind of quality our clients rely on. As winter approaches, the pace changes, but the work remains just as important. These next few months give us a chance to catch our breath, take care of our equipment, invest in training, and get ourselves positioned for what’s ahead. There’s a lot of opportunity on the horizon, and with this team, I have no doubt we’ll step into 2026 stronger than ever. But before we look too far ahead, I just want to say this: thank you. Thank you for your hard work, thank you for your commitment to safety, and thank you for showing up for each other. This company is only as strong as the people in it, and this year you proved (once again) that we have something special here. I hope you take some time this season to rest, recharge, and spend time with the people

SITEWORKS DRONE TEAM
Drone technology elevates our SiteWork with faster, safer, and more accurate project data from the start. At Superior Bowen, we’re always looking for smarter ways to build better, and drone survey technology has quickly become one of the most valuable tools in our toolbox. It’s transforming how we approach our sitework projects by giving us faster, safer, and more accurate information from day one. With the latest drone hardware and mapping software, we can gather detailed aerial data in just minutes. This gives us real-time progress updates, dependable topographic models, and precise material measurements that help our teams plan and work more efficiently. Instead of spending hours on the ground collecting data the traditional way, we’re able to capture everything we need from above with exceptional accuracy. Drone surveys also give us a clearer picture of material quantities. Their volumetric measurements make it easier to track soil movement, verify
quantities, and keep projects running smoothly. This level of insight strengthens our project controls and improves communication with owners and partners. Another major advantage is the photography. Our Drone Commander, Chad Byers, captures high-quality images that showcase our work from perspectives you simply can’t get on the ground, all while collecting the technical data needed for the job. These visuals help us tell the story of our projects and highlight the expertise and effort behind every phase of construction. Above all, drones help keep our teams safe. By reducing the need for personnel to enter hazardous or hard-to-reach areas, we limit risk while still gaining a clear, comprehensive understanding of site conditions.

AIDEN HALVORSON CONCRETE LABORER
STATE TECH OF MISSOURI VISIT TEAM
KYLE GREENWOOD IT SUPPORT SPECIALIST
“On his way home from work, Aiden passed through a Superior Bowen job. While sitting at a stoplight, he noticed a construction sign blow into a drive lane. Aiden made sure he pulled off the road to adjust the traffic control and reached out to the proper management so the situation could be addressed. Thanks for taking the time to make it right, Aiden!”
“I want to give a shoutout to our amazing volunteers who visited State Tech of Missouri yesterday! They led two lunch-and-learn sessions with 100+ students in degree paths that align with our career opportunities, answering questions and meeting individually with students to discuss our company and career paths. Thank you all for taking time out of your busy day to help us build a strong talent pipeline with the next generation!”
“Kyle consistently provides prompt support to helpdesk tickets and always ensures the issue has been addressed fully. I appreciate the sense of urgency from him as our job is so dependent on the functionality of all the apps we work in every day. He has also gotten to know several members of the accounting team and it’s been a great bridge to strengthen crossdepartmental relationships. I’m so happy to have Kyle on the team!”

CHET MCDANIEL INVENTORY MANAGER
MILES GRANTHAM PLANT LEAD
“The past few years in Montabella, I’ve walked by our SB SiteWorks crews every morning. I’ve watched as our employees come into the neighborhood early, drive safely, and park in smart locations. Our employees are always polite and friendly with their vests on. The consistency of all of these things, especially the safetyrelated items, when they don’t know anyone is watching is quite impressive.”
“I want to give a public shout out to Chet! On Friday, Cristo Rey’s Corporate Work Study Program leader, visited the shop for our annual review of the partnership. Over the past three years, Chet has consistently provided a variety of assignments that stretch Samuel while creating an environment where he feels included and part of Team SB. His disciplined, professional approach and positive attitude make a real impact!”
“Miles has done an exceptional job with his team keeping the Hickman plant running with virtually no downtime, even in the face of minimal maintenance. His long nights spent troubleshooting, rebuilding, and finding creative solutions have been critical to keeping operations steady. Thanks to his dedication and work ethic, the plant consistently met customer needs with reliability.”

PROJECT HIGHLIGHT THE ROCKS AT ROELAND PARK
The Rocks at Roeland Park is transforming a former community landmark into a modern, sustainable mixed-use destination. At 4800 Roe Parkway in Roeland Park, Kansas, a major redevelopment is officially underway at the site of the former Roeland Park Aquatic Center. Once a longtime community landmark and gathering place, the property is now being transformed into The Rocks at Roeland Park, a mixed-use development designed to bring new energy, housing, and amenities to the area. The project will feature a 287-unit Class-A apartment community, a sit-down restaurant, and a multi-level parking garage — representing one of the largest private investments the city has seen in recent years. Superior Bowen is proud to partner with Brinkmann Constructors on this exciting
development, providing comprehensive SiteWork services that support the full buildout of the project. From the estimator’s perspective, this project represents the culmination of almost two years of steady pre-construction work. Discussions began in June 2023, and throughout that time the team worked through evolving plan sets, multiple redesigns, value-engineering alternatives, and repeated estimate updates to ensure alignment with expectations. This sustained effort on the front end played a major role in advancing The Rocks to the point where it could successfully move forward, demonstrating the importance of persistence,
collaboration, and adaptability during early project development. SiteWork operations are well underway and include the excavation of approximately 12,600 cubic yards of material across the site. A significant portion of this work requires rock breaking, with Metropolitan Concrete Recycle on-site to process material for reuse within the project. This sustainable approach reduces waste and minimizes offsite hauling, aligning with Roeland Park’s emphasis on environmentally conscious development. The development is being constructed to achieve Green Globes or LEED Silver– equivalent standards, underscoring a long-term focus on sustainability and efficiency. Redford Construction will be installing new sanitary, storm, and water utilities to support the future development, while BC Hardscapes will be constructing modular retaining walls across the site to accommodate varying grades. CS Carey completed early-phase clearing and tree removal to prepare the footprint for initial earthwork and grading activities.

As SiteWork advances, Superior Bowen’s team, led by SiteWorks Superintendent Mike Huffmaster, will continue working closely with Brinkmann Constructors and the project’s skilled trade partners to safely and efficiently deliver each phase of construction. With vertical construction expected to span more than two years, The Rocks at Roeland Park is poised to become a signature addition to the community: a modern, connected, and thoughtfully designed destination that blends high-quality living, recreation, and sustainable development on a once-underutilized site.

NEW WEBSITE LAUNCH For the past year, our team has been building a new website that truly feels like Superior Bowen. It reflects the work we do, the people who do it, and the values that guide us every day. We look forward to sharing it with you at the start of 2026. More than anything, we hope it becomes a place where you can get to know us better — what we do, what we stand for, and what makes us who we are. The website isn’t the only thing getting an upgrade. We’re also launching a new employee store with madeto-order gear. You can expect to see it by Bring Backs, and we’re excited for you to explore the new options.
