TELL US A BIT ABOUT HOW EQUALISER BEGAN In 2017 the founding residents Slowcook, Lucy Locket, TamTam, Luce, Zoya and Carlos came together to set up Equaliser. We started to promote inclusivity in the party scene in Leeds. We felt a need to diversify the decks and celebrate the talent of female, trans, non-binary, POC, LGBTQ+ DJs. Things have come a long way since then!

WHAT HAS BEEN THE MOST EXCITING PART OF STARTING UP EQUALISER COLLECTIVE? We’ve had so many exciting moments in Equaliser! We have seen our DJ workshoppers who have never touched a record in their lives progress to playing their first club set! Another highlight was our summer party with Yaeji. The vibes were high and we really came together as a collective.

WHAT MAKES EQUALISER ESSENTIAL IN 2020? Our residency with Natural Selection for Season 6! It’s such an exciting opportunity to showcase our talent in the city. We are also collaborating with Sable Radio to run a new series DJ workshops, check out our fb page and sign up!

HOW DID YOU GET INVOLVED IN NATURAL SELECTION? TamTam put forward the idea of a residency with the Super Friendz crew and it was a no brainer to make it happen! We can’t wait to collaborate more.

FINALLY, WHO ARE YOU MOST EXCITED ABOUT AT SEASON 6 FOR NATURAL SELECTION? We are excited for a different Equaliser resident to have the opportunity to showcase their unique sound each week.
