Term 3 2026 Term 3 2026

Open Evenings Open Evenings

As we stagger (heroically, it has to be said) towards the end of Term 3, it feels only right to acknowledge the weather has done its best to test our collective resilience. Grim skies, sideways rain and horrendous viruses doing the rounds it’s been one of those terms.

A huge thank you to everyone who has stepped in, covered lessons, juggled timetables and kept the SupaJam wheels turning, and to all the students, parents and guardians for your hard work and commitment. The care and community shown during these weeks has been brilliant and never goes unnoticed.

On a much sunnier note (metaphorically at least), Nick and I are beyond excited about the launch of our new SupaJam Earls Court college. It’s starting to feel very real, and there’s something special about seeing a new space take shape. As soon as we can share photos, you’ll be the first to see them. Trust me
it will be worth the wait.

Meanwhile, Swanley. What a transformation. Walking into the new college now makes us genuinely proud a world away from our extended residency in portacabin purgatory (great name for a band). To the Swanley staff and students who endured nearly three years of “character-building” conditions (freezing winters, boiling summers and creative use of extension leads), thank you. Your patience and positivity were heroic. Now we just need to fix the leak in the Hub and it should be semi-normal once more!

Over the next few weeks we’re expanding in Wandsworth and Canterbury to create additional space ready for the new academic year (earlier if possible in Canters). Leases are being prepped as we speak more room, more opportunity, more noise (the good kind).

Nick and I are really looking forward to getting off office hell and around the colleges more, spending time with teams and students, and soaking up the energy that makes SupaJam what it is.

For now, thank you for your passion, resilience and relentless dedication to our SupaJam community. Have a truly well-earned and very happy break.

Careers and next steps Careers and next steps

We wanted to start this edition of ‘In The Mix’ with a huge congratulation to all our Level 3 students who have applied for university this year! 16 out of 16 SupaJam students who want to apply for uni submitted their application on time with strong personal statements and great references from their teachers. We’ve already had 9 conditional offers! We’re expecting many more to come in over the next few weeks.

Our Careers Lead Nat Morgan wanted to give a big thank you to all the staff who supported getting these applications in. We’re so excited to see what happens for these students next!

16 out of 16 students who wanted to attend university Next have applied! 16 out of 16 who wanted to attend Next have applied!

During the first week of March we’ll be hosting Pathway Mornings across our colleges to celebrate National Careers Week! Each college will be inviting local provisions to host a stand to let our students know about the next steps they could take. There’ll be colleges, universities, charities, apprenticeships and so much more The stalls will be running all morning with refreshments available and acoustic sets provided by our students.

This year, for the first time ever, we’ll be hosting industry panels as a part of our pathway morning This will be a great opportunity for students to ask professionals their burning questions and find out what routes they can take to make their dream careers a reality.

We’ll send more reminders closer to half term but there’s no harm in students starting to prepare questions now!

National apprenticeship week National apprenticeship week

National Apprenticeship Week took place this year between the 9th-15th February. It was a great opportunity for SupaJam to highlight alternative paths to university. We celebrated the week by participating in the workshops made available, taking students through the ‘Apprenticeship Toolkits’ and hosting guest speakers from local provisions to give our students a proper introduction to the world of apprenticeships.

Big Life Adventure Big Life Adventure

Last week, we had the exciting opportunity to interview the lovely team behind Big Life Adventure, Nicki and Alexa, about their interesting spin on a brand new social media platform for people living with disabilities and autism. It’s safely designed with the users’ safety and protection in mind using their built in AI to monitor and disregard mean or hateful comments and posts to make it a safe environment.

In the podcast, we discussed different topics including the monthly fee (which is currently ÂŁ8 a month, which includes up to 2 guides which can be friends or family to help you on your journey) and what that helps with, how their built in AI system works and what their hopes are for the future of the platform and where they see it going in the future.

In the podcast interview, we asked a series of questions to the Big Life team and had a mix of opinions and answers to help explain what they do and why they are so passionate about it. Keep an eye out for the podcast!

Enrichment Showcase Enrichment Showcase

On Tuesday 10th February our Brighton students hosted a showcase which highlighted the incredible work they have done this term during their enrichment curriculum. During the showcase, students put on live performances of songs they’ve written, presented posters and digital artwork they’d created and shared recorded samples from EPs they are currently developing.

The event was a brilliant opportunity for students to celebrate their creativity, build confidence and share their progress with peers and staff in a supportive environment. The room was filled with a great vibe as performers took to the stage, visual artists spoke about their creative process and audiences got a behind-the-scenes insight into the projects that everyone has been working on this term It was a fantastic reminder of how enrichment activities allow students to explore new skills, collaborate with one another and bring their ideas to life.

InclusioN Day InclusioN Day

Our recent Inclusion Day brought students together for a dedicated day of learning and reflection all focused on understanding one another and celebrating the diversity within our college community and the wider world. Students took part in an interactive treasure hunt around the college and a quiz designed to help them explore different needs, experiences and perspectives.

Through teamwork and problemsolving students discovered practical ways they can support each other, challenge assumptions and continue to create a more welcoming environment for everyone. The day sparked thoughtful conversations and gave students the chance to reflect on how small actions can make a big difference It was a positive and engaging reminder that inclusion is something we all play a part in every day and one that highlighted the difference inclusion can make to someone's confidence and sense of belonging.

A generous donation A generous donation

Sadly a former resident of Newport Court (an old age care home in Canterbury) passed away recently. He had a huge passion for music and very kindly donated 4 guitars, a MPC Key 37, a Vox looper and a microphone to SupaJam Canterbury His wish was that his instruments would get their full use and aid the progression of young musicians.

It was an incredibly thoughtful donation - we hope his family are comforted by the knowledge that the equipment will be cherished for years to come.

Canterbury hosted another one of the spectacular staff gigs in January. The scene was set in the cafe for an afternoon full of incredible performances as almost every staff member took to the stage for an outstanding performance. Staff gigs are always a favourite at SupaJam. Not only do they model resilience and confidence, they’re a fantastic way for our staff to show off the years of performance experience and their incredible passion for live music!
