SUNY POLY
Academic Success & Advising Graduate Students
The Academic Success & Advising Center also has a Writing Center! Can I get writing help if I can’t physically visit the Writing Center?
We offer both in-person and online tutoring hours; you can make an appointment using the TutorTrac scheduling system for either an inperson or online tutoring session. TutorTrac distinguishes between online and in-person sessions. (Online tutoring sessions commonly use Google docs and Google chat). TutorTrac is available at tutoring.sunypoly.edu.
What help is available at the Writing Center?
• Discussion of assignments at any stage of the writing process; • Review of outlines, concept maps, brainstorm activities, and other prewriting tools; • Reading of rough drafts and offering suggestions for organization and clarity; • Answering questions about structure, development, and content; • Guiding students toward improving their grammar; • Directing students to MLA and APA citation guides and websites. We explain the format when necessary and discuss completed citations; • Discussion of revisions. Writing is an ongoing process; students should work toward continuously revising their work. • Use the “research help” option to make an appointment with a librarian.
