Geneseo is a midsize, public, undergraduate, liberal arts college located in the Finger Lakes Region of Western New York. Widely regarded as New York’s Public Honors College, we’re noted for our high selection standards, our rigorous core curriculum, and the impressive success of our graduates. We are ranked #2 among all regional public colleges in the North (U.S. News & World Report) and we’ve just been ranked the #1 “Best Value”—a combination of quality and price—among the 500+ public colleges and universities in the nation (Kiplinger’s). Geneseo is one of only 24 communities nationwide to be recognized as a National Historic Landmark.

A study conducted on behalf of the National Science Foundation and the National Institute for Health determined that Geneseo ranks #10 in the nation among Primarily Undergraduate Institutions in the number of graduates who have earned PhDs in math and science in the past decade (2000-2009).

Proportion of all credit hours taught by full-time faculty, 13 of whom have won national awards for teaching excellence. No courses are taught by graduate students.

Geneseo is the only public undergraduate college in New York with a chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest and most distinguished honor society in the country.

Geneseo students are eligible to enroll in up to two courses per semester at any of the 12 colleges and universities that comprise the Rochester Area College Consortium — including the University of Rochester and the Rochester Institute of Technology — at no additional cost.
