Only a tiny percentage of grapes from its 350 acres of vineyards go into wines produced under its own label, but those wines exemplify the excellence of this spectacular Rutherford property. The 2007 Round Pond Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon recently garnered a 94 from the Wine Spectator for its powerful, layered character, and the vibrant 2009 Round Pond Rutherford Sauvignon Blanc, the first from recently planted Sauvignon Blanc vines, received a 90 from the same publication. In addition to one bottle each of these wines, the high bidder and three friends are invited to visit Round Pond Estate for a tour and tasting when next in the Napa Valley.
