At the start of the race runners will run along the picturesque Hollywood Broadwalk for miles as the sun comes up. A quick U-turn takes athletes back heading north on the Broadwalk with a good opportunity to see how your friends are doing amid magnificent views of the Atlantic Ocean. The course takes runners to North Surf Road to again run parallel to the Atlantic, running through a shaded tree tunnel before starting a second loop, until reaching nearly the end of the Broadwalk and Harry Berry Park. A beautiful finisher’s medal for both the Half Marathon and 5K plus lots of snacks await at the finish line! As an added benefit you will also get a close up tour of the best that Hollywood Beach has to offer. Both races are also a part of the very popular South Florida Half Marathon Tour! Can I Walk The Event? Walkers are welcome at all of the Elite Events! There is a 3.5 hour time limit for the half marathon. After 3.5 hours, the course will open up to traffic. At that point, you must obey all traffic laws as if you were a pedestrian. You will still receive your finisher medal as long as you are close to finishing after the 3.5 hour time limit. Police, Volunteers, and race crew will be dismissed after 3.5 hours. All of the finish line and event equipment will be cleaned up after 3.5 hours. Important Information Early Packet Pick Up: Friday Jan. 14th, 2022 - Location TBD Race Day Packet Pick Up: 5:30 a.m. - 6:10 a.m. Time Limit: 3.5 hours Water Stops: There will be water and gatorade about every 2 miles or less. Awards Pick Up Since the event timing technology allows for live results, you are able to receive your award as soon as you cross the finish line. After you’ve enjoyed the complimentary post-race refreshments, report to the awards area where one of their team members will present you with your finish results and award. The event will be held Saturday, January 22nd, 2022 between 6:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. The National Anthem and
Pre-Race Instructions start at 6:20 a.m. and both races start at 6:30 a.m. The starting line will be at North Beach Park 3601 North Ocean Drive Hollywood, Florida 33019. Parking There are only a little over 1,000 parking spots close to the race venue and start. It is highly recommended that you carpool, bike or stay at a nearby hotel. There is limited parking north
of the Park available on the side streets at the Hollywood Beach daily rate. All athletes parking on the side streets must exit to the north (right) to East Dania Beach Road/A1A only. There will be free parking inside Hollywood North Beach Park but space is limited to about 300 spots. We expect this
lot to be completely full by 5:55 a.m. at the latest, so get there early! There is also parking available at the Garfield Garage at Charnow Park at the Hollywood Beach daily rate. Restrooms are available at Charnow Park. After the event all athletes must exit south (left) on Ocean Drive/A1A only.

We were so enchanted with one another, that Maggie Black, our teacher, would separate us at the ballet barre. Once we began working together, singing, dancing and acting, we realized what a perfect fit we were and decided that was what we wanted to do exclusively.” Michael adds, “We just clicked from the first moment we started to dance together. Everything flowed. The hardest part of choreographing for Melinda was that everything she did looked so beautiful, it was hard to choose what to keep in and what to discard. It’s a happy problem I’ve gotten used to over time. As legendary director Joe Layton told us at Radio City Music Hall, “This girl! Even when it’s wrong it’s right!” In 35 years of highs and lows, successes and failures, injuries, triumphs and heartaches, we’ve spent 5 nights apart and eaten about 10 meals apart,” says Kessler. “It may not be for everyone, but we love being together pretty much all the time. Holiday Shopping Tips: From the Hollywood Police The holidays are a joyous time to spend with loved ones and many of us enjoy exchanging gifts and donating to charitable causes. While we continue to navigate the Pandemic, many people have chosen to stay home and shop online, however with shipping deadlines creeping up, many people are hitting the stores to finish up their holiday shopping. Unfortunately, crowded stores aren’t all that shoppers have to be aware of. There are a high volume of thieves and scam artists who want to take advantage of the holiday spirit of giving. Here are some tips from the Hollywood Police Department to help you ensure your purchases and donations don’t end up costing you more than you expected: Shopping in Stores Do not buy more than you can carry. Plan ahead by taking someone with you or ask a store employee to help you carry your packages to the car. Consider alternate options to pay for your merchandise, such as one-time or multi-use disposable credit cards or money orders. Wait until asked before taking out your credit card or checkbook, an enterprising thief would love to shoulder surf to get your account information. Tell a security guard or store employee if you see an unattended bag or package. The same applies if you are using mass transit or walking to and from your car. Baked Tomato Goat Cheese Dip Recipe courtesy of Marzia Aziz of “Little Spice Jar” Prep time: 10 minutes Cook time: 20 minutes Servings: 4-6 • Nonstick cooking spray • 2 cups RAGU Simply Traditional Sauce • 3 cloves garlic, divided • 1/4 cup fresh basil, chopped, divided • 1/8-1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes • 1 log (10-10 1/2 ounces) goat cheese, • softened at room temperature • 2 teaspoons olive oil, plus additional • for brushing, divided • 1/4 teaspoon fresh thyme • kosher salt, divided • pepper • 1 large baguette, sliced on bias • blistered tomatoes, for serving (optional) Position one rack in the upper third of the oven and one in the lower third. Preheat the oven to 375 F. Spray a small, round baking dish with nonstick cooking spray; set aside. Add sauce to a small bowl. Grate in two garlic cloves then add 1/8 cup basil and red pepper flakes. Stir to combine then pour sauce into the baking dish. Smash goat cheese into a ball. Place the ball between two sheets of plastic wrap. Using your hands, flatten cheese into a thick, round disc about 1 inch smaller in diameter than a baking dish. Remove goat cheese from plastic wrap and place in the center of the sauce. Polenta Bites • 1 tube (18 ounces) polenta • 1 1/2 teaspoons olive oil • 1 jar (24 ounces) RAGU Chunky Tomato, • Garlic and Onion Sauce • 1 package (8 ounces) shredded mozzarella • 2 sprigs, rosemary, de stemmed and chopped • 3 basil leaves, chopped • 1 block (8 ounces) hard Parmesan cheese Cut the polenta into slices. In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat; fry the polenta slices 10-12 minutes on each side until crispy and golden brown. In a saucepan over medium heat, warm the sauce. Place the polenta slices on a tray and sprinkle with mozzarella. Place 1/
2 teaspoon warm sauce on each slice then sprinkle with chopped rosemary and basil. Grate hard Parmesan onto each slice for topping. Christmas Conflicts Study Finds Holiday Family Gatherings Fall Into Drunken Arguments If Hollywood holiday blockbusters, like “Home Alone,” “Elf” or “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation,” are anything to go by, the festive season of family feuds is upon us! On a serious note, many people consider the holidays a difficult time of year to come together in high spirits with relatives from near and far as there’s almost always an argument that ensues. This time of year, the internet is filled with tips and tricks on how to avoid or resolve family conflicts during a time that’s meant to be overflowing with joyous spirits and holiday festivities. But, when alcohol is involved, things can get even more boisterous around the dinner table. • 38% say family arguments • involve the presence of alcohol • Politics is typically the main reason • for family arguments over the • Christmas period • 4 in 5 have at least one extended • family member who annoys them American Addiction Centers, a leading provider of addiction treatment and resources, conducted a survey (3,405) to find out how families deal with alcohol-fueled feuds over the holiday season. It was uncovered that almost 1 in 4 (23%) of Florida family gatherings involve drunken arguments over the holiday season - above the national average of 21%. In fact, of all the joy-depleting family feuds there have been in the family over the
years, the average Floridian said 38% of them involved the presence of alcohol. It seems that families in Delaware were most affected by these alcohol-fueled family feuds, with 1 in 3 stating these types of arguments generally
take place in their household over the festive period. Comparatively, households in Hawaii tend to keep the peace with just 5% of people who said they experience family gatherings featuring drunken arguments over the season. Talk
about harmonious holidays! Of course, bringing together close and distant relatives of different ages and varying mindsets has the potential to end up badly, especially when alcohol is involved. In fact, an overwhelming number of people (81%) said
they have at least one extended family member who annoys them. And when it comes to drinking, over half (57%) of respondents said they also have at least one extended family member who becomes confrontational or argumentative when they have alcohol at gettogethers. The occurrence of drunken arguments affects some so drastically that 68% said they would consider an alcohol-free family Christmas in order to avoid these festive-dampening feuds. Some say politics is among the top topics you should definitely avoid discussing over the dinner table - and for good reason: one-third of respondents said politics is typically the main reason for family arguments over the Christmas period. Longstanding family tensions (29%) and money (17%) were also significant contributing factors to family bickering. Additionally, 17% stated that taking games too seriously is the root cause of arguments over the holidays. There’s no rivalry like a sibling rivalry, so it seems: 5% of people said this is the main cause of their holiday arguments and lastly, 3% of people said their family tends to argue over the cooking! We have all been under a lot of stress the past couple years, so let’s take this study as a learning tool to avoid conflicts during this holiday season. Be mindful, be thankful and sober.

Heredia said some insurance companies throughout the years charge more by increasing homeowners premiums even when a hurricane or other natural disasters do not hit South Florida. She said 90 percent of the time, the payout is not efficient enough to cover the costs for repairs when the insured files the claim directly with their insurance companies. “The insurance companies treat you this way: you get $20,000 but you have $50,000 worth of damages. That’s why homeowners need a public
adjuster to make sure they get enough to cover all of their damages to their homes,” she said. Heredia said before Hurricane Irma left South Florida in its path of destruction in 2017, which was the last major storm since Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Wilma in 2005, the insurance companies increased homeowners’ premiums each year. After Hurricane Irma made landfall, some insurance com-
panies took too long to settle a lot of claims, delayed the claims process until or denied some claims. Heredia said PICC works as fast as possible on behalf of their insured. Heredia said some insurance companies won’t cover damaged old drain pipes in homes that were built in the 1960s and 1970s and some limit coverage on water damages.
